Why are these two in love? We have not seen one single genuine emotional moment with these two to convince us that they actually care about each other beyond physical attraction and a professional relationship. It’s like their relationship is more an obligation than anything, like it just HAS to be a part of the story, even if both the audience and the characters themselves have yet to be given a reason to care.

I have never gotten/understood the Sonic/Sally thing in Archie. In SatAM I liked the two because they had playful banter with each other. In Archie it seems more like “They’re the two leads and they’re opposite genders. Of course they’re together.”

Not to mention Archie Sally is kind of a fun sponge.

I think this is quite a rare event. In HGSS Steven offers to trade you a Beldum for Forretress and…most people would just give him a random Forretress but if you give him one with maxed out friendship, you get to see Steven fanboy about Steel type pokemon and IT IS HILARIOUS.

I keep seeing reminders today of how women tend to be perceived as idiots, manipulative whores, or as shrieking harpies out to dominate everything.

I know that feeling. Recently wrote a long thoughtful post on the various artists of Betty & Veronica, what strengths and weaknesses each artist had.

(the dynamic movements and body language of Harry Lucey, the background gags of Samm Schwartz, the hair and makeup styling of Dan Parent etc.)

Most responses were cool. But then I got some old skeaze saying B&V were pin-up girls before they were characterized as regular teens, and they should go back to being pin-up art only. That they lose all appeal if the drawings aren't sexy enough. Ugh.

Had to take a break from that forum for awhile to avoid yelling.

Because obviously Mr. Basement Dweller can't handle fictional females being anything but erotic wish fulfillment fantasies. That they should have wants or dreams beyond pleasing Archie (or horny audience surrogates?) INCONCEIVABLE!

So I have no ideahow he'd deal with a female reader telling him how creepy and off-base he is.

But yeah, I hate when people classify women as stereotypes only. Don't care whether the steroetype is sluts, bimbos, b*tches, domestic goddess, manic pixie dream girl, etc. Those labels can be used for harmful, narrow viewpoints.

Women are PEOPLE. Even fictional women have characterization and depth beyond the quirky one or the nice one. It would be nice if all women got more respect.
