*There are a lot more learning websites out there, but I picked the ones that are, as far as I’m aware, completely free and in my opinion the best/ most useful.
Recently i got a 36/36 on the ACT math, do you want me to share how i did it, tips and study tricks??? (my composite score was meh, I’m going to retake it)
ok really quick, since i know the October test is really soon. i will go further on in a more detailed post, but this will have to do. I’m just going to be truthful, it going to be hard to raise your ACT score in a week or two weeks, it honestly takes a good solid month of practice to get up a few points. If you do not feel like you are ready you should think about moving your test to a later date.
1. PRACTICE: If you have not already, just do all the OFFICIAL practice tests that ACT has given out. I didn’t really use any other substitute like Barron’s and other books, but you can just find almost every single previously RELEASED ACT test online. So go do that. practice. practice. practiceeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
side note: also don’t cram, do one test every week so it’s spread out.
2. You have to have a good math foundation, i know it’s like obvious but this is to all of the middle school or ninth and tenth graders that are going to take the ACT, you just have to listen and do well in your school’s math class. The better you do at school, the better you score on the ACT math test.
3, CALCULATOR: there are tricks with your calculators. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE CASIO FX115, you are missing out. Please i know you may think that your Texas Instrument scientific calculator is fine, but the Casio calculator has functionality of a basic graphing calculator that is non existant on the Ti scientific calculators. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, and get it [ link ]
4. KNOW HOW THE TEST IS GOING TO WORK: the test doesn’t involve calculus or stats or whatever, it just basic math problems. Ok so the score i started out with on practice tests was around a 29/30-ish, and eventually around a 32, then progressively it turned into 34. I really did not expect a 36 on the real test. i don’t think i can answer every single type of problem that is going to be on the test for you guys, but there are probably a lot of posts in the internet on how the ACT math section works.
5. TIME YOURSELF. time is key, if you do not finish you are screwed.
6. LEARNNN: for the links #5 and #6, if you can learn all of those formulas and apply them to problems you should be fine
here are practice problem links:
1. act provides practice test questions: here
2. 2015-2016 released official ACT test: here
3. 2014 released official ACT test: here
4. how to efficiently do ACT math problems: here
5. THE HOLY GRAIL OF ACT FORMULAS : here
6. everything you need to know for the ACT: here
(don’t memorize complicated formulas, act gives them to you)
GOOD LUCK GUYS!! ask me questions for more details :) i will do an official post later on, but i have tons of homework to do right now.
