following people when i haven't been posting anything particularly funny is rlly embarrassing for me i promise u this is not the limit of my ability man
Man oh man. This is almost a loaded question for me since it’s usually kinda rare that I find myself deeply relating to individual characters— I can always see little bits of myself reflected in characters I love, but ones that I HIGHLY relate to are more rare (and therefore more special lol).
Three characters that I identify with so heavily, I cry sometimes:
Abraham Woodhull and Robert Townsend as characterized in AMC’s Turn: Washington’s Spies, and Alexander Hamilton, as characterized in Hamilton: An American Musical.
It should come as no surprise that I, your local Townhull aficionado, have cried over Abe and Rob, but I honestly relate to both of these anxious bitches so much for different reasons. Robert Townsend is by far the most relatable, since his anxiety really reminds me of my own (especially before I was medicated and in therapy, it was ROUGH lmao), but there are aspects of Abe’s character that I really identify with too so!!
And I feel like y’all are gonna hate me but… Hamilton. 🤡 I deliberately did not want to bring Hamilton up on the Turn blog since as much as I love it, I feel like they’re just too different, even if they’re both pieces of Amrev media… Whoops.
But to dumb it down, never had I felt more seen than when I heard the song “Non-Stop” for the first time, like, “wait, it’s another loudmouth who writes way too much because they can’t shut the fuck up?” Just IMMEDIATE kinship with this stupid bitch, ahah. Jokes aside though this musical has helped me love parts of myself that I’ve struggled to accept, so biggest shoutout ever to Lin Manuel Miranda. And if we’re really being honest here I also find myself identifying with historical Hamilton way too much but we don’t need to get into that today 💞
