IDVJFIVDKCVKN YOUR ART STYLE IS JUST SO awesome!!! I'm not a big shipper in welcome home...but your Julaby art is still cute! and I ADOREEE all of the stuff you make. I was wondering what art app you use? if you use procreate do you have any tips on how you color, your blending and shading are gorgeous!! <3

AHHH TY THAT'S SO SWEET <33 I use clip studio paint so unfortunately I can't help you there wahh,, But I did try using procreate just a smidgen and the techniques are pretty much the same for me so!

for cleaner art I usually follow :

sketch

flat colors (with some gradients)

multiply layer for shadows

rendering (basically painting over the entire drawing for cleanup and more shading)

(sometimes I cut out the multiply layer for shadows and just jump to rendering)

In more "atmospheric" art I pull colors from around the piece and lean into reflective shading quite a bit, there's also ALOT of highlighting along the edges of things (like his hair and the paintbrush for example) especially with stronger lighting like this drawing

(In the background I also added blues and yellows pulled from wally but I'm focusing more on character shading here)

In art where I'm not using multiply layers I'm still pulling colors from around the character or background to tie things together

the majority of brushes I use are hard brushes with low pen pressure but if you're looking for something less choppy a good blending brush Is always nice ofc

Headcanon idea that Bea Joyful can see only things touched my light (reflected light included). She is otherwise blind.

At home the Joyfuls have glowing crystals in their cave, so even at night Bea is perfectly cabable of moving around her home without aid. Maybe she even carries a little flashlight with her when traveling.

This said, Sally is probably the brightest thing in her vision. The first time they meet, Bea is immediately smitten :)

Yes! (I look Delicately On my Own Icon of her...) She's the most Fretful Neighbor I think, always Worried! She never leaves her home, but that's alright! It is so comfortable, and Everyone else comes to her Instead! (Even Howdy will leave his Business for her, She is so grateful!!) She must get a lot from Howdy! But what does she exchange? Usually her feathers, a Cozy thought, something homemade! (Nest made?) How could you turn down a Physical act of love! In any case, she gets so much from him because she is So Busy!

Knitting, Sewing, Baking- She is not necessarily Good at them, but she will place out her Strange looking Doilies when Frank comes over to her house! (Of which he does often!) To place a teacup on! (How Decorative!)

She is also the largest of Her Family! (An assortment of Very Small, Very colorful birds!) Which was a surprise! She is also not any Particular sort of bird, she Resembles a bit of a Hen... an Ostrich... a Lorikeet... Who is she!! So many things!
