Might even argue that the movie was a mistake, as whedon seemed to not give a shit about giving us all a proper final story.

But seriously hearing what kind of plans he had for the show - including an episode where inara gets gang raped by reapers being the FIRST story he pitched - and what he has done with the comics, I think having more episodes would ultimately have killed my enjoyment of the show.

Hell, I just rewatched it and it's not holding up so great. Partially because I've seen sci-fi with far better world building and less cliche stories, but also because I can't stop noticing how whedon treats his female characters. Sure, they're interesting, but so fucking many times the violence directed at them and the shitty treatment even from the good guys, is so fucking misogynistic, it starts to feel like whedon takes pleasure in it.

It's 500 years in the future in a new solar system, but apparently women have less status than now? And threatening to rape them - seriously what is whedon's obsession with rape - is the best threat you can think of? Even threatening male characters with the rape of one of the female characters?

Anyway, I still love the show buuut I feel less sad about it ending so soon and I guess I'm going to look if someone wrote a better actual ending for it that doesn't include the cheap shock deaths of Serenity.

This actually started because I was sculpting baby Asra, and got antsy waiting for the clay to dry, so I thought I’d try sculpting Julian. I didn’t really think I’d get anywhere, but ended up liking it enough to create the body.

I swear you can’t go into the Dragon Age tags without getting slapped in the face with another poster claiming they’re superior to others because of some choices they made in a fucking videogame.

Get over yourselves. I probably made all the ‘good’ choices according to these people, but I still think that doesn’t mean I played the game ‘the right way’ I just played it the way I thought the story would be most interesting to me.

Look, I’ll never get anyone who killed Anders in DA2 or gave up Fenris, BUT if that’s what they thought was the most interesting storyline, let them take those choices. Frankly I’m more upset at the lack of consequences to either of those choices (especially as they’re pretty character defining choices in my mind), than the idea that someone took them.

Obviously if someone in real life tries to pretend, for instance, that giving North Korean refugees back to the state - which a lot of countries do by the by - is morally justified, yeah, that is horrible and that person is horrible. But someone wanting to see what happens in a story when you pick the morally abhorrent choices is not immoral, no matter how desperately you want to feel superior over other players.

btw this is something I see a lot of criticism towards DA:I, that its most interesting stories are not the quests you get to play, but the ones you only get to read about (on the war table). And I agree.

BUT it’s an issue with a lot of writing. Don’t have your most interesting ideas take a backseat to a boring main story. Nightflyers had that same issue. BUT I would also count Doctor Who when it was under Moffat’s direction.

And Nightflyers joins a long list of scifi shows that have some interesting ideas, and suggestions, but decide to ignore them for the most generic and boring story lines they can think of...

And wtf was with that finale? It finally gets interesting, bringing in some new things I would love to see play out and then it just ends with nothing resolved... What?

That ending would have been perfect if they’d had any kind of skill to build to it, instead it’s just kind of farted out and left there.

My guess is they didn’t adapt the whole book and are saving the rest for a second season? Essentially that means they’ve cut out the climax of the story (because they need that for another season) and left us with an unfinished mess.

I did the Inquisitor takes the Well of Sorrows option for the first time on my Angry Gay Dalish playthrough last night and…. I think I hate Morrigan now.

Also It continues to be disappointing how much they make Lavellan inquisitors ignorant of their own heritage in there. Even trying to make him as knowledgable as possible it was mostly Morrigan and Solas explaining stuff with his interjections either ignored or disputed. :/

Someone described DA Inquisition as Dragon Age: Neoliberalism the other day on my twitter feed and as I play my Dalish Inquisitor and try NOT to automatically be a devout Andrastian who goes with whatever the Chantry wants only to have the few times that comes through accompanied by my companions complaining how horrible I am for it…. yeah, it fits
