Hordak was always a goth twink
Why did Hordak get younger after he met Entrapta?
I’ll start with the s1. This is a story about two cadets, Catra and Adora. They and the military topic are the central objects. Viewers should look up from below at the Horde organization, through the cadets and peaceful people’s eyes. Hordak is the villain in this story, and the villain must look so that we understand who he is at first sight.

New locations, new characters, new plot.
From now on, Hordak and the Fright Zone are not something obscure and abstract. We see perspective from the inner side of the Horde: Hordak’s day-to-day work as a general and scientist. (This is already better than an cardboard character with the purpose to frighten with their presence in the frame). A little later Entrapta appears, and “Hordak-stuff” gets bigger.
Entrapta and Hordak become sweethearts. Crew-Ra changes Hordak’s scenario role. If before we were supposed to get negative energy from him, now we have to sympathize with him. Hordak is no longer the “Dark Lord”, we know him as a “Entrapta’s alien lab partner”
Because of Prime in s3 we learned that Hordak is not the main threat of the series. He’s a sick, skinny clone from a hive of other billion clones. His status has fallen for us. If the “Evil Master” from the first seasons is gone, then there is no sense in Hordak’s formidable, umm, unsightly? design anymore. Crew-Ra RETURNS his true looking: the thin emo goth. Hordak, when he was Prime’s top general and Hordak from the beginning of the show.
In the past, he really doesn’t look unattractive, muscular and old like in s1-2… 80s series Hordak vibes. He looks exactly the same as he looks in the s3: Thin, “elongated”, and young.
There is Hordak when he found baby Adora. BUT EVEN THEN HE DIDN’T LOOK SO GRIM AND MASCULINE! We have two proofs that Hordak always had such an attractive apperense. The opinion that “Hordak was beautiful but he got old” is wrong, because how do you explain the fact that he suddenly got younger in s3? He can’t rejuvenate magically. This means Crew-Ra specifically tormented him so that he looks more like bad guy. In order for US to perceive it as such.
Then Entrapta started Hordak’s development arc. After all, if it wasn’t for her, we wouldn’t know about the skinny defective Hordak, wouldn’t know that somewhere in space there is Prime that is truly evil. Due to the fact that Entrapta started Hordak’s arc, Crew-Ra had to remove “shackles” from him. Finally, they don’t have to torment his appearance for the sake of his line, because he is no longer the most important bad person in the series.
In general, If we talk about the biological Hordak’s looking, it is correct to say that he was always handsome man, even before he met Entrapta. But Entrapta’s merit specifically in this case is that she made a Domino effect. Thanks to this, the crew RETURNED Hordak’s emo-gothic exterior.
Entrapta appears -> we get Hordak’s flashback -> Hordak turns out to be a puppy against the Prime and he’s not the real villain in this story anymore->Hordak is sick, actually->say “goodbye” to the Hordak’s past design, which was an exaggerated attempt to show Hordak at least somewhat like a true warlord, not a rock vocalist from 2007
But… it is because of Entrapta Hordak learned friendship, love and free will. If something had changed in Hordak’s appearance because of Entrapta, it definitely was his hair. It became disheveled and unruly with every interaction he had with Entrapta! That’s where Entrapta’s contribution is 100%. I’ll leave some pics here at the end.
