I just realized
Sukuna has oftentimes regarded the people he loves most as “wretched” and “disdainful” throughout canon
Like apparently, according to Japanese readers, when Sukuna was describing his mother as “wretched/pitiful,” even though the words WERE insulting on their face (and in spirit), they also apparently conveyed a lot of fondness and admiration and love. So, Sukuna both viewed his mother as wretched/pitiful AND loved her at the same time
And even though Sukuna didn’t love her (at least, certainly nowhere NEAR the extent that he loved his mom, Uraume, or Yuuji) and viewed her as annoying and disgustingly shameless and off-putting, Sukuna pondered a LOT about Yorozu’s philosophy of love and genuinely lamented the fact that she didn’t fall in love with someone like Gojo or Kashimo instead, who would’ve made her happier, which I think does indicate at least some degree of affection (esp. if we go with the theory that the woman shown as one of the people on the crossroads in the last chapter that showed when Sukuna was thinking about his past, which would show that he acknowledged her feelings, even if he didn’t return them). So, with Yorozu too, Sukuna both viewed Yorozu as disgusting/disdainful AND felt some form of affection for her at the same time
And then there’s Yuuji……… oh, the fathomless depth of feelings that he has for Yuuji……….. “This abominable righteousness, a refuge of the soul”……… Sukuna was enraged at Yuuji, hated him so much for challenging his deeply rooted ideals and outlook on life in a way that left him feeling defensive, since it’s very likely he took it on at least in part as a coping mechanism to deal with the grief and despair of the entire world outcasting and hating him from the moment he was born, but at the same time… he treasured it. Sukuna loathed Yuuji’s “abominable righteousness,” but he also loved Yuuji so much at the same time, and in his heart of hearts, he could quietly, genuinely confess to himself that Yuuji was the refuge for his soul……..
Oh, Sukuna

Actually, now that I think about it, Geto was an actual IDIOT 😭
That man wanted to kill off all the monkeys (humans and people with no cursed energy like Maki) and just leave all the sorcerers alive, but if he did, then all the sorcerers would’ve quickly died out too since there are just too few of them to sustain the population without humans. There were like, what, 30 sorcerers alive in the beginning of JJK?? If they had to rely on those numbers to keep the population going, there’d be so much inbreeding going on that SukuIta wouldn’t even be incest anymore 😭

Something that still sends me when it comes to JJK is how absolutely NO ONE other than Yuuji seemed morally outraged by Sukuna being an actual mass murderer, cannibal, and (VERY heavily implied) rapist?? 😭 Like every other character under the sun (Gojo, Kashimo, etc) had no issue with it at all and we’re just glazing him to high heavens, feeling extreme sympathy for him, and trying desperately to teach him the meaning of love so that he’d feel less lonely. Like YES, at the very end, Yuuji asked Sukuna to live with him for the rest of their lives, but 1) that’s his husband, so NTM on poor widowed housewife Yuuji, and 2) he did it AFTER he stopped Sukuna since he was trying to put a stop to his evil
The world of JJK is so hilariously amoral that even guys like Sukuna, who is a popular poster child of pure evil characters in anime, is treated like he’s done nothing particularly wrong, and it’s to the point that it makes Yuuji, the only genuinely morally good character, an extreme outlier. And honestly, that maybe makes Yuuji even MORE insane??? Even MORE of a freak???? Because not only is Yuuji’s morality absolutely ALIEN in that verse where everyone’s amoral and prioritizing your own selfish interests over the wellbeing of the world is portrayed as a morally praiseworthy thing (Kamo’s decision to ditch the final battle, for instance), but Yuuji maintains it throughout the entire series, and then falls in love with Sukuna anyway???? He makes Gojo, Kashimo, etc look like your Average Joes 😭

Sukuna during the last fight was SO FUNNY when it came to Yuuji, and I wish we got to see Uraume’s reactions to it 😭😂 Like
Uraume, seeing Sukuna tank a whole bunch of dismantles and Black Flashes from Yuuji: 😱
Sukuna, coughing up blood and grinning like a fool when Yuuji beats him tf up: Heh 🥰😏 Looks like the brat can use these techniques after all 🥰😏❤️ What a strong wife I have

All things considered, I’d like to imagine that Uraume would actually really, REALLY like Yuuji
Yeah, they held a LOT of disdain for Yuuji at the start because Sukuna did and because Yuuji got in Sukuna’s way, but after seeing that Yuuji is the refuge of Sukuna’s soul, after seeing how he inspired Sukuna to change and actually heal from the hurts of his past in a way that left Uraume crying genuine, heartfelt tears…… yeah, I imagine that they’d come to really like Yuuji a lot
Like, because they know that even though Sukuna deeply loves Yuuji and finds comfort and solace in Yuuji’s presence as the “refuge of his soul,” he would almost NEVER seek out Yuuji’s presence on his own without an excuse since he struggles to admit his feelings to even himself, so Uraume would be the one to find ways to bring them together instead, so that Sukuna could enjoy Yuuji’s presence without needing to sacrifice his pride

JJK dudebros are unironically better shippers than the rest of the fandom, I fear 😭
Not only did they come up with the “SukuIta divorce proceedings in Higuruma’s domain” idea (along with basically calling Yuuji and Blobkuna’s entire interactions with each other super gay), but they also came up with better crackships too????
Before I peeked in on Reddit to see what THAT side of the fandom was like, I’d never expect dudebros to be such ride or die Hakari x Uraume shippers LMAOOOO

I think that the difference in reaction between Western and Japanese fandom to the SukuIta Waltz art is so fascinating
While the western side of fandom is adamantly choosing to interpret the art as platonic/familial and saying that anybody who got romantic vibes from it is disgusting (which, I mean, they can do them, I guess, even though it makes me VERY worried about what their idea of healthy family dynamics looks like since I’d find it EXTREMELY CONCERNING if any uncle danced like that with their nephew IRL, considering the fact that Sukuna and Yuuji’s crotches were pressed together and everything……)
The eastern fandom seemed to be absolutely blindsided and shocked, not just by how romantic the art is by itself (which shows them waltzing together on CHRISTMAS NIGHT, OF ALL NIGHTS), but by the quote too, since the words that Sukuna used are…… well, to put it lightly, VERY heavily emotionally charged. Like I knew it wasn’t just SukuIta shipper lenses when I saw Japanese non-shippers (as in, people who either don’t ship SukuIta or don’t do shipping at all) saying that it all looked very romantic

I was just thinking……. If Hana really had died and Yuuji ended up becoming Angel’s next vessel to try to take Sukuna down, Sukuna would’ve absolutely LOST IT out of jealousy 😭😂 Nobody is allowed to be inside HIS brat’s body other than HIM!!!

Sukuna pretends like he hates/is not interested in Yuuji, but I just KNOW that if Yuuji died at anyone else’s hand or ended up romantically with literally anyone else but him, Sukuna would’ve been screaming, crying, throwing up, and crashing out in the WORST of ways LMAO

The ending of the SukuIta date in 265 is SO funny to me because Yuuji is the perfect stereotypical passive-aggressive wife and Sukuna is the perfect dense husband 😭😂
Like at the very end, Yuuji laid out such subtle barbs against Sukuna, like a peeved midwestern housewife who wants to criticize his husband but doesn’t want to say anything directly since it’d cast him in a “naggy” light
And it took Sukuna a good long while to process it actually 😭 Like you could practically see the spinning beach ball of death just whirring in his brain and hear the Jeopardy theme playing in the background until it finally clicked and he went all “wAIT A MINUTE….. WAS THAT /PITY/??? WAS THAT PITY FOR /ME/?????”
Like yes, OBVIOUSLY, Sukuna 😭 I’m glad you finally got with the program!!!
Domestic spats in the SukuIta household would be absolute TORTURE as a bystander, I just know it 😂Hide full question

Actually, JJK dude bro fans were absolutely cooking because they said that the Sukuna vs Yuuji and Higuruma fight in Higuruma’s domain expansion should’ve been SukuIta divorce proceedings instead
Imagine Sukuna losing half of his assets (his cursed energy and Ten Shadows summons) and the house (Malevolent Shrine) in the divorce to Yuuji 😭
Bro would be raging so hard his freak out after 265 would look tame 😭😭 But I bet he’d also be (begrudgingly) furiously aroused by the sheer ruthlessness of Yuuji using their lack of a prenup against him

Actually, upon further reflection, Yuuji definitely surpassed Kenjaku in the Freak Off competition
For all of Kenjaku’s weirdness, they only slept with human beings (or at least, human-appearing beings)
Meanwhile, Yuuji pretty much wanted Blobkuna to annihilate his pussy
Kenjaku is downright VANILLA compared to Yuuji 😭😂😅

The Winter Waltz art had me absolutely FLOORED because……… well, even from a non-shipper perspective, it makes SukuIta seem…….. legitimately canon??? Like before that art, I was perfectly satisfied, since SukuIta had the same amount of sexual tension and shippable interactions a lot of other non-canon slash ships have in most other shounen series, so I was more than fed
But then, that art came out and I was completely shocked because….. now, just legitimately speaking…….. SukuIta seems…….. perhaps actually potentially canon??? And I say that objectively rather than in a shipping way…….. I’m still just very surprised…….. like even Japanese speaking non-shippers we’re raising their eyebrows at just how……… romantic the art is, because it’s HARD to see that art in a platonic way, especially with Sukuna’s quote and the overall context of it being a romantic dance on the Japanese equivalent of Valentine’s Day
Like. With Yuuji canonically not ending up in any het ship at the end of the series, with Gege VERY heavily implying that Ozawa had no chance with Yuuji romantically because Yuuji’s still stuck on Sukuna, as is shown with him reminiscing about Sukuna in the snow, with Sukuna’s quote about Yuuji being the refuge of his soul, with Yuuji’s plea to live the rest of their lives together and Sukuna being inspired by Yuuji to change…. It just. Feels canon. Especially since Gege clearly has no issues with LGBTQ people or relationships, as seen with Kirara, Uraume, Hakari/Kirara, and Gege canonically saying that Mai is bisexual. (Or with incest for that matter, since Mei Mei x Ui Ui is shown not as a bad thing, but as something that makes Mei Mei more sympathetic since she killed that corrupt elder at the end to protect her brother, Gege canonically said that Mai’s first love was either Megumi or Maki, Megumi thought of Tsumiki when he talked about his type in women, etc)
Like now, it feels like the most canon confirmed ships of the series are Mechamaru/Miwa, SukuIta, YuutaMaki, and Geto X Gojo (not my taste personally, but Gege clearly has preferences)
And I’m still just stunned because out of all of the ships I have, SukuIta was one of the absolute LAST I’d ever imagined becoming even so much as pseudo-canon. Just. Woah

I am actually frothing at the mouth over the idea of the SukuIta Winter Waltz Art getting animated….. perhaps even getting integrated into the story itself, like during their date in Yuuji’s domain expansion……. Maybe it’ll happen right near the end, and we’ll see Sukuna’s little scowl slowly vanish as he watches Yuuji laugh in delight, his face soften in quiet fondness……. Maybe we’ll even hear Sukuna’s secret inner monologue, the only moment where he’s 1000% honest with himself, a quiet little “this abominable righteousness… a refuge of the soul” in the deepest depths of his mind while he gazes at Yuuji’s smiling face in an admission he would otherwise never even dare voice to himself…. Before remembering himself a moment later and tossing Yuuji aside, beyond furious with himself for his “””loathsome””” little /feelings/, and then going on his “I understand but this made me feel nothing” rant of denial that he does right before Yuuji threatens him to free Megumi…. I feel like it’d be such a good way to explain just WHY Yuuji was so convinced that Sukuna wasn’t completely evil at the very end of the battle, why Sukuna too was capable of love……
And considering that Gege couldn’t write the story 10000% the way they wished because of stress and health issues, it makes me wonder if they would instruct Mappa to include more SukuIta scenes in the anime, the kinds of scenes that they themselves perhaps wanted to add but couldn’t because of their limitations while working on the manga……
