âAnd I thank you for that. I think Iâm just a weeee bit too tired for bat-glares tonight. Or for the rest of my life.â
âI was over them by the first time I got oneâ
red-and-undead:
Brow still furrowed, he became slightly less tense at her touch. Maybe it was because before this he had been in a good mood. Maybe he was just too tired to stay angry for too long. Shifting his weight, he looked her in the eye. âI canât go back.â He then spat. âIâm dead. There is so much crap wrong with me that Iâm begging to keep under control; going back there will only make everything worse.â
Helena didnât quite know what to make of this situation. She knew that this would relieve Bruce in so many ways but she also couldnât imagine making Jasonâs life anymore harder after what he had already gone through. A few moments passed and she just wanted him to know that she was listening, that he had someone to talk to. Adding pressure again she looked into his domino mask, âI--- I know this is such a cliche thing to say but Iâm here for you....and I know weâve just got on first name basis but I wouldnât want any harm to come to you mentally....or otherwise,â she said sincerely, and after a few silent moments she smiled a bit, âItâs Helena by the way.....I guess itâs only fair you know my name too.â
mrcullenrow:
âHi, Iâm from the Wayne Industriesâ tech department.â
âYou called saying thereâs a problem with your software?â
Helena rolled her eyes, âWayneTech....I can never escape that man,â she scoffed audibly before returning her attention back to her visitor, âItâs not so much a problem as it is a complete crash I really need to recover what I was....working on,â what she was working on was hacking the GCPD crime database but he didnât need to know that.
red-and-undead:
His eyebrows knit together, and he looked at her looking slightly more pissed off. âMy family?â He scoffed. He then crossed his arms. âMy family did nothing after I died. I can forgive that they werenât there to save me, but you know what they did instead of avenging me? They replaced me. Some kind of love, there, huh?â
She could sense the hostility rising within him. She knew that she was only a few words away from never seeing him again and she couldnât figure out if that would be a bigger loss for her or Bruce. She shook her head at his words, âJason, no    its not that simple. Bruceâs heart still aches for you...to this day, he mourns you    they all do,â she explained, pausing briefly, âI know I wasnât really around when you were....alive....I guess, but I do know that Bruce has never really gotten over what happened to you, you have to believe that,â with that she gave his hand a light squeeze for reassurance.

She shrugged. âWell, I was about to go full Spoiler for one, but now I guess my night just opened up.â
Helena chuckled a bit, âWell trust me, I just saved you from days of sour looks from Bruce.â
thefirstbxtgirl:
âMore or less.â Barbara shrugged. Theyâd had a lot of success, but it wasnât hard to remember their failures as well. âIâm proud of him. Of all of them, really. Gothamâs never had so much protection.â
Helena nodded in agreement with what the redhead said. Biting her lip, Helena broke the silence after a few seconds, âCan I be honest with you Barb?â she asked but continued anyway, âSometimes I donât know if Iâm a help or a hindrance to Bruceâs cause..â
bewarebatspoilers:
She huffed. âHe thinks he can do everything by himself, like heâs capable- okay, maybe he is, since heâs the Batman and all, butâŠâ She bit her bottom lip. âFine, Lena. Iâll stay back.â
Helena smiled a bit, âI totally get how youâre feeling. There have been so many times where I feel like I have to help him out but they usually just end up in him icing me out for a day or too..â she explained before sighing, âanyway what are you up to Steph?â
red-and-undead:
âOh, believe me, Iâve thought about it.â His tone was bitter. Obviously, his feelings towards the dark knight were nowhere near as positive as they used to be. âBut Iâm not exactly happy with Bruce right now.â
Suddenly Helena had completely forgotten about the initial reason that the pair had even been together. She had become so familiar with the Red Hood and had not a single inkling of how completely life-altering his identity would be. Closing the distance between them, she reached for his hand, trying to be sincere with him. âListen, I canât even begin to imagine what youâve been through but Jason...you have a family, one that loves you..â
red-and-undead:
He shrugged. âWell, about as alive as I can really be⊠This is my second time around the bend of life, after all.â He stood up, then raising an eyebrow. âIs it really that shocking?â
Helena closed her eyes for a bit before opening them, as if she was expecting him to be gone once she opened them. Knowing it was a ridiculous idea she simply continued her conversation, âJason   have you told Bruce? You need to tell himâ
bewarebatspoilers:
âHey, itâs not as much âunannounced companyâ as it is âIâm going to kick this villainâs ass while youâre kicking another villainâs ass for the sake of your own sanity.ââ
Helena nodded in agreement, her lips pursed, âI guess I can see what you mean. Still, he still doesnât see things as clear as us, so if you wanna avoid a lecture, I suggest you let him handle it.â
bewarebatspoilers:
âAlready on it, Hun!â
âI wouldnât Steph, you know how Bruce is about unannounced company..â
red-and-undead:
âWell,â he began, sitting on the edge of the building and running a few fingers through his hair out of stress, âmy name is Jason Todd, and technically, Iâm a zombie.â
Helena froze at his words. Her breathing hitched when he was done speaking. Being somewhat in Batmanâs inner circle she had heard about him and she had known that he was arguably Batmanâs greatest failure. âJ-Jason Todd?â she asked, not being able to control the stutter. âYouâre alive..?â she subconsciously began backing away and she wasnât sure why.
âI swear that bat-signal is blaring 24/7. I donât even get the point of a signal if its gonna be on all day. If I didnât know any better Iâd think that Bats had his hands full....someone should give him a hand.â
red-and-undead:
He took a deep breath and grumbled, wishing he still had his cigarette to take a drag of. âWell, Huntress,â he looked her in the eye, âwhat do you want to know?â
She shrugged, not actually knowing what she wanted to know from him, she just knew that she wanted to know more. âHow about a name, I think weâve at least reached that point, donât you?â she asked with a brow raised, âafter that just feel free to let it all out...â
red-and-undead:
He looked at her with a raised eyebrow. âPlease, you donât want it. Itâs too depressing and Iâd hate to put a damper on this night.â
Helena rolled her eyes, âRed, we're two young....Iâm assuming, adults in the prime of our lives and weâre wasting a potential night of debauchery staking out a weapons shipment.....the night is damp,â she replied.Â
red-and-undead:
âWell, then good luck cracking everything else.â He stretched his arms out upwards. âThe rest of me is pretty complicated.â
At his words Helena took a break from her observation of the docks and glanced over to her partner for the time being. She could sense the shift in mood between them. After a few moments of silence she finally broke it, âWell give me a lead...â
red-and-undead:
âWay to go, detective.â He rolled his eyes.
She chucked a bit, âIt was one of my easier cases to crack, I assure you.â
