被強制換上新版臉書 UI 後，逛臉書成了需要嘆幾口氣才能點開三、五則通知的沈重負擔。 最累的就是 [看通知] 這件事情本身。 https://www.facebook.com/notifications 在這次改版前，我習慣以將 notifications 頁面下拉到底顯示出最近兩天通知，有零碎的五分鐘、十分鐘或半小時時從頁底開始往上挑來看（，可上網的時間很少所以大部分會挑 status 或 photo 這一類跟朋友生活、感受相關度較高的通知先看）。忙幾個小時後有另一段零碎時間再打開螢幕，notifications 頁面還是停在同樣的位置等著我繼續開新分頁消藍點。 新版的通知跟右上角小鈴鐺合而為一連動，於是 notifications 頁面不再靜止了。下拉到底顯示最近兩天通知後，下次再回到螢幕時，臉書已經（自以為使用者都需要就）將通知「主動更新」成還沒往下拉的狀態。如果想從兩天前錯過的開始追就必須重新再一頁頁下拉直到最底。 與通知頁面合而為一的鈴鐺變成增加手腕負擔又浪費時間的設計，每點開一則通知，下一則都需要再次從頂部往下捲動。為什麼臉書會覺得使用者需要不停不停捲動滑鼠滾輪才是合理或舒適的瀏覽行為？ 有一晚下樓準備晚餐後直到隔天早晨醒來才又有一點零碎時間在小孩睡醒前開啟電腦螢幕，我習慣將 Chrome 工作管理員開著，那天一開螢幕看到放著臉書 notifications 頁面的分頁已經發酵到使用超過 1G 記憶體，我移動滑鼠到分頁上捲動通知，那個分頁就崩潰了。即使使用者只是開分頁放著，臉書也認為自己應該使用巨量記憶體，臉書還真是有臉！ -- 不過，身為只用電腦上網的少數族群，任何不便都不重要了。 愈來愈多公家機關也理所當然地只給 QR code 不再提供網址，彷彿宣告著「使用智慧型手機是身為本國公民的基本資格」。

精神疾病之間的隱藏連結｜MPlus

2018年，丹麥奧爾胡大學的精神病學專家奧萊格‧普拉納－里波在研究一個關於精神疾病令人困惑的事實：很多病患都有多重病症，例如焦慮加憂鬱，或思覺失調加躁鬱。他想釐清這樣具有一種以上精神疾病的普遍性，所以他找到一個數據庫，裡面有大約590萬丹麥公民的醫療資訊。他被眼前的結果嚇了一跳，因為無論症狀明顯與否，每一種精神疾病都讓病患更容易有其他精神疾病，普拉納－里波說：「我們知道共病的重要性，但我們沒有想到會發現疾病之間的關聯性。」這項研究再度提起困擾了科學家一個多世紀的基本問題：精神疾病的根源是什麼？

[備料] 鱈魚表皮抹點鹽 洗、切山芹菜、菠菜、洋蔥、牛蕃茄、蒜頭、薑絲 薑絲放到鱈魚上，蛋跟芝麻一起打散

炒蒜片時疏

把鱈魚放進電鍋蒸 （如果想吃蒸老了的鱈魚，煮米的時候就一起開始蒸也可以啊 XD）

繼續用煎過蛋、炒過菜的炒鍋煮洋蔥蕃茄湯

用煮湯的等待時間洗備料用具、清水槽菜渣、擦流理台

將湯倒入湯碗後洗炒鍋

從電鍋拿出白飯、鱈魚擺成自己看了高興的長相 我喜歡挑掉鱈魚中間的魚骨並把蒸魚湯汁淋到白飯上 （電鍋裡的水煮蛋是下午的零食，一起蒸省電）

雖然只碰水這麼一點時間，手指還是開始（輕微）脫皮了。 orz 這時就會想起曾經有個知道我不喜歡飯後面對水槽一堆鍋碗總會在開飯前就幫我把烹調用具洗起來餐後立刻洗碗的同居人。 之前到台中幫朋友陪貓時在臉書放了幾天東吃西吃的照片讓我娘看我的臉書時報平安用，沒想到因此聽說有些朋友覺得我一個人在台中那幾天比較像有在生活。 這陣子試著放一些「有在過生活」的一人亂食照到網路上，心得：「給別人看到自己有在過生活」比「過生活」本身累。

Losing a tool like Xmarks is really inconvenient. Uncertainty of using some social media is easy to pass relatively.

Opening up to other people about your chronic illness is challenging because you never know what response you’re going to get. 

Some people respond with skepticism and believe you’re being overdramatic when you talk about how severe your illnesses and symptoms are. Most people want to understand and mean well, but simply don’t know how to respond to illness. People often make unhelpful suggestions like “think positively” or “try probiotics” when what we’re looking for is some validation and emotional support. “Sorry, that sounds really hard” is a much better reaction than “you should try yoga,” but we hear the latter more often. 

Because dealing with chronic illness is so challenging, we need even more emotional support than the average person. Getting that from friends, relatives, and even mental health professionals is hard because so few people truly understand chronic illness. Oftentimes, our need for emotional support and social connection goes unmet, which adds to the already heavy burden of chronic illness.

臉書中的民主？ 從《黑鏡》Arkangel思考劍橋分析事件與反同婚公投 - 生鮮時書

這個四月發生了兩件事。 一，臉書5000萬用戶個資數據遭劍橋分析公司取用，並利用這些數據與川普競選團隊合作，操作了2016 年的美國總統大選，祖克柏為此出席美國聽證會受詢並道歉。 二，中選會通過下一代幸福聯盟所提的三項公投案，包括「你是否同意民法婚姻規定應限定在一男一女的結合？」、「你是否同意在國民教育階段內，教育部及各級學校不應對學生實施性別平等教育法施行細則所定之同志教育？」、「你是否同意以民法婚姻規定以外之其他形式來保障同性別二人經營永久共同生活的權益？」。若三項提案達28萬人連署，將正式進入全國公投。 這兩件事應該被視為某個更隱性問題所衍生的社會徵兆。在什麼意義上？在它們共有的社群網路中的政治性上。前者戳破了臉書作為民主中立的公共平台的幻象，後者揭露了臉書作為民主溝通的討論平台的困境。 臉書如何製造民主中立的公共平台幻象？ 在《黑鏡》第四季的Arkangel裡，母親找回失蹤的女兒後帶他到Arkangel公司植入家長監控設備，這個設備有兩個主要功能：監控與濾鏡。 一方面，母親能看到女兒眼中的畫面，另一方面，所有家長認為兒童不宜的物件都會在兒童眼中自動產生馬賽克。劇情轉折於監控設備開始產生反效果，母親在墓碑前的哭泣被馬賽克，上學路上有攻擊性的狗被馬賽克，就連外公發病暈倒在地的樣子也被馬賽克，導致延遲就醫。 監控設備使家長看見小孩所見的一切，小孩自身卻再也看不見社會現實。 在這裡，家長、Arkangel公司、小孩的三角關係，不就像祖克柏、臉書、用戶的三角關係嗎？一方面，為配合廣告營收，演算法盡量讓你看見你想看見的，這必須以用戶過往的所有資訊（貼文、通話紀錄、瀏覽紀錄）為基礎，這也是劍橋分析事件之所以可能的前提。 另一方面，為配合特定意識形態，演算法會過濾他們不想讓用戶看見的內容，如前陣子臉書封鎖發表批評中國言論貼文的帳號，或者查禁含有自殺訊息的貼文，這裡沒有真正的言論自由。 你看到的一切，是你想看到的以及他們想讓你看到的，這是臉書的監控與濾鏡。 劍橋分析事件進一步暴露了臉書說的與做的不同。祖克柏最常說的一句話是：「讓世界更開放、連結更緊密」(Making the world more open and connected)。但如果我們檢視祖克柏從臉書創立至今(2004-2018)的論述演變，就會發現，臉書創立初期的自我定位不是連結全球公民，而時提供大學生一個可以尋找親朋好友的平台。 用祖克柏自己的說法，臉書是線上通訊錄(online directory)，而不是社群網路(social network)。然而，從2009-2010年開始，祖克柏對臉書的立場大幅轉變，目標用戶從大學生改為全球性事業，社群被召喚了出來，更重要的是，祖克柏往後的論述開始頻繁使用分享(share)、開放(openness)、參與(participation)、連結性(connectivity) 這類自由民主的修辭，試圖使人們相信，臉書不只是一家科技公司，更是一個社會的民主討論平台。(註一) （註一：Anna Lauren Hoffmann, Nicholas ... Criminal Minds 有一集提到人大約在 14 歲開始形成音樂喜好。 對 14 印象深刻除了因為那是我查完校圖關於吸菸害處資料後決定就算將來因此病了也要菸成為我生命中可信任分享一切感受的對象而開始抽菸的年紀，也因為在 Dr. Reid 從他配有過目不忘能力的百科腦翻出這理論時我跟著回想著那個年紀聽些什麼歌才注意到自己國中時期不太聽中文歌。 影集中提到： 14 is when we start to make our own musical choices. Our cognitive development evolves at that age and we start to form our own cultural identity. We stop listening to the music that our parents put on and we start listening to the music that our friends listen to. And those musical experiences imprint on us. Our hormonal surges as teenagers may make the choices seem more personal and passionate. And later on in life we might experiment with other musical selections, but no music ever impacts us as much as that which we listen to at age 14. 我開始自己買音樂帶是小學六年級（12 歲），有三張卡帶：《優歡派對+小虎隊：新年快樂》與《七匹狼》是為了假裝跟同學喜歡一樣的東西而買來聽的，不過後來我有喜歡上七匹狼主題曲的前奏以及張雨生的歌喉，《甄秀珍：紅唇一生》才是純粹的喜愛。 為什麼連音樂喜好都要假裝？有一回說話課老師讓同學依座號序上台唱自己喜歡的歌，什麼歌都可以，我唱了甄秀珍的《今夜留一點愛給我》，下課時間便接受了一場人性洗禮，從此我學著假裝喜歡同學也喜歡的事物。人類對陌生事物的嘲笑與排斥在幼稚園與小學階段便俯拾即是。 因為長期記憶的最早事件追溯到未滿週歲前的幾個零星片段，於是我清楚自己的生命經驗不斷累積成傾向同意「人性本惡」的觀點。 去年贈出的舊卡帶裡頭，國中聽的是：The Cure, Guns N' Roses, Adams Bryan, Madonna, Bee Gees, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Roxette, Elvis Presley, Debbie Gibson, Paula Abdul, Tommy Page, John Lennon，而假裝自己像同齡「正常人」聽的歌則是從《中廣流行網》轉錄到空白帶上。 高中後，華語歌曲才又回到我耳畔，像是藍心湄、張國榮、Beyond、張雨生、張宇、梅豔芳、伍思凱、黃鶯鶯、周華健等歌手的流行歌曲。 那時候已經不太為了自己的喜好在別人眼中是否怪異而掩飾。應該說，對音樂喜好的假裝已經疲倦到無法繼續，只是也沒有到全然瀟灑，當我想哼英文歌時就跑到教室頂樓的無人空曠處，沒人聽到就不可能有人說我奇怪了。

One of my family members told me the other day that the acute symptoms she was experiencing from a cold were worse than my symptoms because I’m “used to mine.” 

Unfortunately, this is a common misconception. A lot of people don’t realize that we never fully get used to the pain, fatigue, and other symptoms that our chronic illnesses cause. No matter how well we learn to cope, our symptoms still affect us on a physical and emotional level.

So I reckon with the right level of support and the right attitude, this school should do all right by children like Joe and be a better school for having him. other parent: Thanks, Alison. That's lovely, but can we get to specifics? About Joe. And his behaviour. And what we can do about it. Joe's mom: We could. But we'd be wasting our time. Because, well, Joe's not going to be coming here for very much longer. We're going to find a school for him that's a bit more specialist. It's not going to be easy. But that's what we're going to do. school staff: I don't understand. When did you decide this? Joe's mom: When we realised that we were getting more out of the idea of him being integrated than he was. school staff: So what's this all about? I thought you were going to reassure the parents.
