Oh. My god. The way Venomous reacts when Boxman says that he "knew all the other villains hated him"

(which just makes this moment all the more...That Moment)

Just...thinking that he only told Boxman he hadn't been invited to the party out of honesty, and then trying to protect him (more than his own reputation - though still getting the secondhand embarrassment) the whole time.

I swear to Cob, I remember watching this ep for the first time. And I remember waiting for IT. Waiting for Venomous to lose his patience and scream at Boxman. Tell him how he didn't want him to come or how Boxman had forced his way into the party. How he's ruined everyone's time. Because that's the cliche we ALWAYS see.

And it never happens. He gets visibly annoyed here and there, but he never actually loses his patience. When Boxman is showing off ridiculous dance moves, he JOINS him so he doesn't feel left out. Even when the ship is being evacuated, he still offers to escape together. Despite having had a terrible night with Boxman, on purpose, making everything go wrong, he still refuses to abandon him.

And then hearing that Boxman intentionally ruined the party just to stick it to all the other villains for excluding him, absolutely blows PV's mind. Not only is someone not caring what people think of them a BIG thing for Venomous (look at Laserblast's self-esteem and the lingering effects), but he's highly impressed by Boxman's villainous potential, both his dedication to destroying heroes how HE wants and deciding that his fellow villains can go screw themselves if they don't like him.

I just, I have a lot of feelings about this moment.

I…never thought about any of this. Like, when He did try to deescalate, he stayed as calm as he could.

I guess that’s one more reason why Boxman Crashes felt…off to me.

Well, to be fair, that is a different setting. Boxman is living with him and, really, you never know someone until you live with them. Boxman, though it's mostly accidental, is messing and breaking a lot of things in Venomous' house, and then the whole house in particular. None of it is ruining things for heroes or evening the score with villains, it's just Boxman...being a nuisance. At least from Venomous' perspective, since he's trying to get work done, like experiments and meetings.

It's only when he sees the reason he's in love with Box in the first place, petty villainy and the thrill of excitement, that he changes his tune. It's easy for flaws/general annoyance to weigh down on any couple, especially in such close quarters. But like with most couples, it sometimes takes a reminder of WHY you like that person so much to be more forgiving of their faults, or even just why you were mad at them.

Hot take: Laserblast would have become a villain no matter what. Maybe not necessarily reaffirming himself as Professor Venomous (and even that could have taken multiple different directions than the one we saw). He could have taken on a totally different identity - or just straight up defected as he was.

But what I'm saying is that we've seen POINT, as an organization, have a long, sordid history of putting such incredible pressure on their heroes that it's inevitable that something will go wrong.

AND IT’S DONE! I thought of how their talk would have been like, and how I felt Venomous’s arc should have been finished better. This took hours to make, even though it doesn’t look like much. I hope you all enjoy this, and thank you to all who followed me as I updated. I hope you enjoy this!
