Wh-what do you mean it’s from a birthday cake

Women who understand the emotional stakes of a cheese plate
Fun fact!
Everything you'd use for an AI prompt could just be sent to an actual human person as bullet points of what you want for a commissioned piece.
Want art of a character that has certain features? Send that description to a real life human person with a payment and get beautiful art back.
Want to read a story that has a set prompt? Send the description to a real life human person with a payment and they'll write it for you.
Sometimes you just talk to a fandom friend and they add "but what if xyz...?" And then somehow between the two of you, you have the plot if not an actual fic! Interacting with real friends can be even better than a commission sometimes because it's a true collaboration with a fellow fan - and a friend who knows what you like.

It would have been harder to edit around, but omg the mama cat in the back becoming Bait in this situation???
😀😀 There he is!!!
hi this drives me crazy
canon is what happens in the text. e.g. merlin tries to poison morgana
a headcanon is a fact that you have personally made up as an elaboration of canon. it is your invention. e.g. i think morgana and gwen had a teenage lesbian situationship before the events of canon. or, i think modern morgana would love evanesence.
an interpretation is how one reads the existing text. it is not an invented fact nor is it a headcanon, it is a reading. e.g. i think merlin tries to poison morgana out of misplaced self-hatred. or, i think that one line was delivered with suppressed malice and shows a nuanced relationship.
fanon is the general fandom’s accepted headcanons and interpretations that elaborate or recontextualize canon. e.g. merlin is a badass waif and morgana is a bitch.
these are all different words with different meanings.
Also, for an interpretation to be valid it needs to be based on the text. It cannot just be a vibe. One can disagree on readings of the text, but if someone comes with quotes and/or historical context and you just have vibes, then sorry, your interpretation is inferior and may in fact just be a headcanon.
Oh thanks but what the fuck does any of that mean
I’ve seen quite a few of these in my time, but this one takes the cake.
This is fucking killing me
Golp: a roundel purpure.
Repeat this to yourself until it begins to have meaning
Okay then since some of you need to be reminded of this:
Roundels are circles in heraldry. They are named according to their color, which also has its own lingo. Let’s meet them!
Bezant: roundel or (gold) 🟡
Plate: roundel argent (silver) ⚪️
Torteau: roundel gules (red) 🔴
Pomme: roundel vert (green) 🟢
Hurt: roundel azure (blue) 🔵
Golp: roundel purpure (purple) 🟣
Pellet: roundel sable (black) ⚫️
If your field is strewn with roundels, you can describe it appropriately as being bezanty, hurty, golpy, and so on.

Ok so now that we officially have the Star Arch Dragon Xa's appearance......then what is this dragon???
Especially when it's more likely to be this one
It kinda has some of the loose elements (main and whiskers), even if it's not the final design. Kinda like how Leola's appearance on the celestial map isn't quite what it is when we actually see her
For anyone who hasn't seen them before, Hidden Search Operators are handy tricks you can use when you're either searching or filtering AO3.
summary: string is a generic way of explaining that you can search AO3 for a specific word that appears in a summary. You can do this from the search bar in the header, from the Any Field box at the top of the Advanced Search form, or from the Search Within Results box at the bottom of the filter menu.
Examples:
summary: Bruce
summary: "Bruce Banner"
summary: Bruce OR summary: Banner OR summary: Hulk
You need to put quotation marks around your search term if it is more than one word. The quotes make sure that the site searches for those two words together.
The other two operators listed work best in the Search Within Results box.
expected_number_of_chapters: 1 will return results where every fic has only 1 chapter currently posted.
You can use expected_number_of_chapters: -1 if you want results where every fic has more than 1 chapter currently posted.
otp:true will return results where there is only 1 relationship tag on the fic. If you want results where there are 2+ relationship tags (and no fics with only 1 relationship tag) then you can use otp:false
This page is so beautiful and honestly I hope it reaches and helps any new people that are just starting out on Ao3 because it's helping me and I’ve been using the site for 5+ years now
I saw your tags @jackdaw-sprite and I figured I could offer you some help? You've got a few options to find fics that are actually about your fave who is often sidelined.
My own personal go-to is to use the Search Within Results filter. You can find the filters by clicking/tapping on any tag. If you're on a wide screen like a laptop, they'll be on the right hand side of the screen. If you're on a narrow screen like a phone, you'll need to press the Filters button at the top of the page to open up the menu.
In that menu, scroll down until you're near the bottom. That's where you can find the box labelled Search Within Results. In that box, you can type
summary: Renhardt OR summary: Rendog
When you filter for that result, you'll get 19 fics with that name mentioned in the summary, and if the name is in the summary you've got MUCH higher chances of them being central to the fic.
There's also a way to find fics with a tag in the X position. Fan coders have had this same issue, and so they've created userscripts that you can add to your web browser (like an extension). Here are a few that might be helpful for you to try:
AO3 Actually Relevant Characters - Sorts and highlights works based on how relevant the tagged character seems in the work's tags and summary.
AO3: Prioritise my Faves - Hide work if chosen tags are late in sequence, or if blacklisted tags are early
AO3 Secondary Character & Pairing Filter - Replaces works with placeholder if the tags you want aren't the first few tags, with option to show work.
Editing to add: this version of the post has a syntax error in it. To remove oneshots with a filter, use
-expected_number_of_chapters: 1
This is, and I cannot stress this enough, extremely normal for literally any even vaguely creative person. I would argue even further that it's a sign of skill: you can prioritize ideas and sift through your thoughts for the best/most excitung ones. Many, many people never get to that second jar at all.
Thank you for this comment. It made the meme so much more uplifting adding that perspective.

Just had a thought about Terry, but
What if the green tips on his horns are "sprouts" where they're still growing?
Like when trees have branch buds
And then there's question on if it's unique to his specific horn type
Just gonna leave this here :3
OOHHHH!!! I had forgotten about that.
