Murdoc grew up almost fearing touch. He grew up basically fearing being hit, either by his dad, brother Hannibal, or school bullies.
But as you came around as the band's support and unofficial manager, Murdoc got closer to you, slowly, very slowly. He would do small things, small enough you didnāt notice right away. Such as going out of his way to be in the same room as you. Sitting on the couch scheduling the band interviews? Murdoc would be in another chair, tuning his bass and working on a song.
One morning, Murdoc was in the kitchen with you. You made him his typical coffee, black. In that ugly chipped mug, with pentagrams he refused to throw away. Your fingers grazed his just slightly as you slid him the mug. That simple touch shot through him like a bolt of lightning. Simple, warm, sweet. Like something almost clicked. Something deep in his soul (if he had one clickedā¦ he wanted more.
It started small. He would bump your foot with his under the table, almost like playing footsies. When he looked over from his food and saw your silly little smile? Priceless. After a little while, he got a little closer, such as sitting on the same couch as you more often.
One night, as the band was all together, watching āDawn of the Deadā for what felt like the 75th time. (By 2Ds request) Murdoc started to get sleepy. As his eyelids got heavier, he leaned towards you. As his cheek hit your shoulder, he shot up and back, scared a bit to get that close. You didnāt really react. āWhat was thatā¦?ā You asked, turning your head towards him.
āNothinā¦ā He grumbled, not wanting his bandmates to catch him leaning towards you. (As if they havenāt caught him catching glances at you plenty of times)
āYou sureā¦?ā You asked, āI donāt careā. You reached to place your hand on his shoulder.
He blinked. āDonātā¦ touchā¦ā.
He didnāt want your touch, so you pulled back. He was a bit surprisedā¦ you listened. He averted his gaze, a slight bit of tears welling up in his eyes, remembering times he had been taken advantage of, even after he told them no. He took a deep breath. āI'm going ta bed. Migraineā.
You nodded as he got up. āAlright, good nightā.
Murdoc rubbed his eyes as he walked away. How could you just be so simple and sweet to him? Listening to him when he said no to sleepy touches? God, he wanted it, but he couldnāt with his bandmates around. As he lay in his bed, he tossed and turned for a while. Being torn between wanting to remain tough and wanting to be held.

The next morning, you were up early as usual. Murdoc stumbled down the stairs toward the kitchen. Nobody was down there besides the two of you, goodā¦ He sat at the table as you poured him his coffee, another chipped satanic mug. As you slid it over, Murdocās hand rested over yours, tight. Tight enough you couldn't pull away easily. āWhyre you so damn sweet? Makes me sick,ā He grumbled.
You paused, blinking. āSweetā¦? Iām just being nice? My natural self, I suppose?ā You replied.
He sighed, releasing your hand. āIāve never once really been touchy-feelyā¦ but you, make me want more. God, sometimes I just want a hugā¦ā
āYou serious?ā You said, walking over from the coffee pot on the counter and over towards the table, opening your arms slightly. Giving him the option to hug. Or not to. āCāmere?ā
Murdoc hesitated, glancing around to see if any of his bandmates were around. He didnāt want to ruin his ātough leaderā image. Nobody was around, so he slowly stood up, wrapping his arms around you. āI canāt remember the last time Iāve done thisā¦ not with someone willinglyā¦ā he mumbled against your shoulder.
āWhat? Just a hug?ā You asked. He nodded against your skin.
āDoā¦ do you mind holding me for a while longerā¦ā he hesitated. āFeels niceā¦ā
āNoā¦ noā¦ I donāt mind, youāre right. "It's nice,ā you said, swaying slightly as you hugged him. What a lovely morning. Could be the start of something niceā¦ something murdoc only dreamed of having: soft touches and warm love.

# Ryder Sinn Foxx
Ryder Sinn Foxx, born 11-15. She has short brown hair until around 16 when she got her dyed her hair a deep red and let it grow out. At around 13, she was caught in a house fire, and her firefighter cousin Gryphon saved her just before the house collapsed. Her and Mikey, her younger brother were the only survivors. But nobody seem to complain about the abusive parents that died in the house collapse. Ryder & Mikey ended up moving in with their uncle (now dad) Matt and Gryphon. Gryphon basically became the big brother. Mattās wife Alice ended up dying young of cancer. Ryder saw Alice as her only true mother figure, so her and Matt spent a lot of time grieving together. Since Ryder never really had a long term mother figure, she was basically raised as a son, and is happily tomboyish. She now in present time still lives w the 3 of them, including Gryphons wife Ivy, their son Will (nicknamed PB or polar bear) as well as Mikeyās girlfriend & Ryders best friend Roxy (Aka Rock Dog).
Ryder Used to date Roxys brother Markus Jan Stenfors. He was what she considered her āsoulmateā. Mark really helped Ryder open up again after being so quiet, closed off and rough after the fire. He was a punk rocker typa guy who loved D&D and taught Ryder to be shamelessly herself. To ignore peopleās opinions and just do what makes her truly feel alive and happy. Like after 2 years together, Markus died after being t-boned between a semi and a tree. Ryder was beyond devastated, but she has his sister Roxy so so they could grieve together and were not alone. After a while all of them decided to form their own little band, Team Voltage.

They mainly keep their instruments and stuff in the basement @ home where they practice and stuff. They r an independent band under their own label, Lighting Records:tm:. They also have their own bar/stage/hangout spot called Hydra Hideout where they typically perform. Its like an underground dive bar type place.

# Meeting Gorillaz / Lore
(Around end of Phase 1 - start of phase 2)
Ryder Spent a few years in the UK after Markusā death for a change of scenery. While at a dingy pub and talking to the bartenders, her red hair caught Murdocās eye. She was a bit intimidated by him at firstā¦ yk cuz hes green n got messed up teeth n shiz. Yet when their eyes met, bith having mismatched eyes, they staired in each-others eyes until he offered to buy her a drink, and they started talking. After a while they started talking about music, and she was quite interested in his band Gorillaz. He left her with a note when and where their next show was, and Ryder left him with her number after they were kicked out when the bar closed.
So Ryder went to the show and had a great time, and ended up gettinā pulled backstage afterwards w Murdoc. She got to meet the rest of his band and got especially along with 2D. Murdoc offered for her to comeback to Kong with them for the night, Ryder didnāt want to at first but eventually agreed. She ended up leaving pretty quickly when he showed her the winnebago and itās awful smell, so she opted to take 2D up on his offer to crash on the couch in his room instead. His room was messy, but not as gross as murdocs. That pissed him off and low key made murdoc jealous so he bit the bullet and cleaned up, just enough that an average person could handle the smell.
After a while of coming back between her apartment and Kong, around the end of phase 2 Ryder went back to Michigan, but agreed to keep in contact with Murdoc & Gorillaz. Yet when nobody ever answered her calls nā stuff after a while she got really anxious. How could not a single person say anything to her? Like she knows theyāre famous and all, but not even a voicemail? Suspiciousā¦ After doing a little research she started to panic, thinking they died. She really missed Gorillazā¦ but specifically Murdoc. He always made her laugh, piss her off, make her smile, everything. Her heart hurt even more. Losing Markusā¦. And seemingly now Murdocā¦
(Phase 3)
While on Plastic beach, Murdoc started to think of Ryder. The way she was weirdly sweet to him like nobody else was. He started to miss her, and he wonder if she would miss him tooā¦ but nobody ever missed Murdoc, if anything people were happy when he was gone.
When Gorillaz escaped from plastic beach, Ryder & Murdoc still thought about each other. Russel was the one who really noticed murdoc acting differently, seeing a lot of notes of his n stuff mentioning āRedā. āI miss my Red. Will my Red ever want to see me againā¦?ā Etc.
When they got a chance to reunite, Ryder tackled Murdoc into a hug and thats when they agreed to be a couple, strictly in private though. He would kill anybody who learns that he has a soft spot for having his hair played with/his head pet. Murdoc calls Ryder, his Red. And Ryder calls him Muddy/Mudsy and he hates it, lovingly.
It all started when you had gotten back from a day out. You dropped your bag with a soft thud by the front door. It was quieter than normal at Kong. Almost abnormally so. 2D was out with Noodle getting ice cream, and Russ was asleep. That only leaves Murdoc. After a while of boredom and pacing around the living room, you decided to check on him. The light was on in the front of his Winnebago, so he must be awake, right?
You knocked a few times softly on the door before opening it. Murdoc sighed, not even turning to face the door from where he sat. He sat at one of the old, cracking leather seats. Hunched over slightly and wrapped in an old blanket with cigarette burns. As you stepped over, you got a look at what was in his hands, some sorta photo album.
āHeyā¦ā you spoke, knocking Murdoc out of whatever trance he was in.
āOhā¦ā he huffed, eyes looking at you for a moment before flipping a page in the album. āHey luvā¦ā
āMind if I sit?ā You asked.
āGuess not,ā he grumbled, pulling the blanket he had closer around himself. The photo album contained pictures of him and the rest of the band. Photos from the release of their self-titled album and Demon Days. Back when he was youngerā¦
You leaned over his shoulder slightly to look at the photos too. āReminiscing?ā
āGuess I am, luv.ā he nodded.
āNoodle was such a cutie when she was littler~ā you hummed.
āI mean, youāre right. But I'm not talkinā about her,ā he grumbled, pulling off the blanket and tossing it onto the bed, revealing himself sitting there, shirtless and in sweatpants.āIām not as good-looking as I used to be,ā he huffed slightly. Sure, he has a bit of a beer belly now and a little bit of grey hair, but he doesnāt look bad at all.
You blinked, shaking your head vigorously. āWhat? Murdoc noā¦ā You sighed, scooting closer, running a hand across his belly. āDonāt even start with any āunattractiveā BS. Youāve grown, changed even. But youāre still the same gorgeous man I met all those years ago.ā
He blinked at you, but didnāt make any moves away. āDonāt start saying shit just to try and make me feel better. I know Iāve bloody gained weight. Gotta start dying my hair nowā.
āA little weight isnāt a bad thing~ā you said, leaning forward to kiss him. He melted into your kiss. āPlusā¦ I think youāre still sexy~ even more now,ā you smirked, taking the photo album out of his hands, setting it aside before kissing him again, hands tangling into his dark, slightly greying locks. He tilted his head slightly to deepen the kiss, then pulled back slowly. āFuckā¦ā he panted slightly. āYou always make me so bloody softā.
āNoā¦ no, not soft, but your belly makes a great pillow.ā You chuckled.
Murdoc raised an eyebrow playfully. āYeah? Should we test that?ā He took your hands in his, leading you towards his bed together.

Murdoc was laying on the couch, half asleep watching some shitty slasher when you came home.
āoh hey luv~ā he said, turning his gaze from the tv over towards you as you flopped down on the couch too, your hair flared out against his belly. His eyes widened before closing briefly. āBad day at work?ā Murdoc asked, rubbing his sharp nails through your hair a few times. He huffed out a little laugh as you nodded again his shirtless skin.
āI gotcha luvā he hummed in his deep murdoc tone āwhiskey?ā He offered, reaching for the half full bottle on the dirty coffee table.
You shook your head, running your thumb slowly up and down his side ājust youā¦ warmā¦ Mine, Mudzā¦ā you said, pulling a blanket off the back of the couch and over your legs.
āMore for me thenā¦ā Murdoc smirked, taking a sip from the bottle, and pressing a quick kiss to the top of your head again before setting it back down. āDamnā¦ā he sighed āyouāre making me softā.
You smirked against his skin, poking his belly button playing. He poked your ear in return. He may be rough on the outside, but for you? Hes such a softie.
