new chapter
no matter how hard i try i keep getting dragged back into salt and i hate it. i wish i didn’t feel the urge to defend myself or my friends but it’s so hard to let lies and slander just exist without refuting them. unfortunately, i cannot mentally take it anymore. i did a full sweep of my blog and deleted all the salt i found. i may have missed some and will do another sweep when i have the energy.
y’all have shown that there’s no getting through to you. you’ve called me slurs, invalidated my sexuality, shared my sensitive information, told me my trauma wasn’t real, sent me anon hate, spread the most vile rumors possible, trashed my reputation on the site i make my only money off of, privately contacted my friends and strangers who reblogged my posts to tell them lies about me, sent me death threats, denied my attempt on my life, told me it was a publicity stunt, then told me i should try taking it again, attacked my best friends and people who tried to stand up for me, repeatedly told the lie that i am pro-map and therefore indirectly invited p*dophiles to interact with me and my blog (which is intensely triggering), spammed my messages with hate and gore pictures/videos until i had to turn off pms, and the entire time you’ve been doing these things, you’ve been saying that I’M the one doing it in some attempt to manipulate people?
i don’t know what you want from me. no matter how many times you repeat those lies they will not become true, and i know that, and my friends know that, and that’s what matters most.
hope y’all find a better hobby,
honey

Letting your terf slip, Honey, oops. Didn’t even bother to explain because they knew they fucked up. Also Ft.Katiethewhiteknight
1. i am a lesbian but i’m not attracted to dicks. that’s just my sexual preference and i can’t change that, im sorry. that has nothing to do with the validity of trans women, it’s just my own personal sexual orientation that i CANNOT CHANGE.
2. nowhere did i say my issues w the lgbt community were about trans people. i was talking about joining lgbt spaces and feeling like the majority of ppl in there are just straight cis women saying they’re demisexual so therefore they have the same experiences as me as a lesbian. demisexuals are valid but we just don’t have the same experience if they’re straight.
this is so stupid, someone doesn't like dicks and doesn't want to get stuck in the ass with a fucking cock? transphobia. this is why I hate being in the LGBTQ+ community.
They used rubber bullets, tear gas, flash grenades and physical force the second there was a small gathering in the memory of a murdered black person
But when Trump supporters STORM THE CAPITOL the police stand by, they try to push back but barely. No state troopers, no militaristic police. Just domestic terrorism being allowed
Just more proof that the American police exists to uphold white supremacy and suppress black voices
I think you forgot to mention that your “peaceful protest” wasn't all that peaceful now was it? you know it, but hide behind a single incident of civil unrest because they’re on your opposing side. its funny how people lose their minds over something the right did, yet the months of never ending rioting and looting is peaceful.
posting a screenshot of your discord isn't doxxing. some of yall have never been harassed over the internet with your own address and it shows
I never said I was doxxed, just said that I got sent gore and was uncomfortable with my discord on a “callout” post, and kindly asked them to remove it.
ur totally right anon, pyroik is STILL in the wrong here. wow they got sent gore. im sorry that that happened but maybe don't go on a thread and act like an asshole to people for no reason ... like that's not just "sharing their opinion"? you reap what you sow lol
....
Hi! Cobweb here! I don't have a tumblr so I'm going to reply to this from my partner's account. It makes me sick to see people act like sending any person gore over their opinion on a video games issues isn't extremely fucked up. I do not support harassing or calling out Pyroik or anything like that. Pyroik doesn't deserve to have their online reputation ruined because they disagreed with me on an issue on a game. The feathers on Herbert weren't traumatizing real life people even if they were uncomfortable for some Natives, but sending gore to any person could very easily be traumatizing to that person! I hope others see this and know that Pyroik is Indigenous and allowed to voice their opinion on Indigenous issues. By silencing them you are still silencing a valid Indigenous opinion, whether or not Pyroik was rude on a forum post of a wolf simulator game. The amount of asshole Pyroik was is literally miniscule compared to the amount of asshole-ness it takes to send someone gore. It is sickening to know an Indigenous person was sent gore for voicing their opinion on an Indigenous issue. The thread was locked. The issue was already settled. Please drop the beef with Pyroik created by my forum post.
ty cobweb, whilst I was an ass that doesn't excuse being sent gore over my opinion, being smeared allover wd, and all over tumblr because of an opinion, you know, something that I think?

i dont condone you getting gore adn shit because that shit is gross but your discord is literally in your pinned post??
It's just the fact that they posted it without thinking about how it could imply it was intended to harass me, whatever they meant, you shouldn't just post peoples shit whether they have it on their blog or not.

HorseIsle: A study in message control
4th post from Ophelia, yes, 4th, have any been addresed? nah. will they? probably not, but its best to keep trying.
(thread started by Ophelia) Oct 17 2020 1:13pm
Hello, it’s me.
I was wondering if after all these years you’d like to stop deleting my posts?
We’re skipping the disclaimer at this point. I’m running out of ways to say “I’m trying to help you here, please listen to my professional advice.”
If admins think for a second that removing my posts is ending these discussions, you’re wrong. We have at this point completely flooded social media with screenshots of these posts. (did you even read the last one? It went poof pretty fast.) This discussion is not simply happening on your platforms anymore. (Should I mention the boycott petition going around, or is that too far?)
You may tell us to drop it as “this is not the place for that.” So, tell us, where is the place? Where is the place if you continue to remove our amicable discussions on these forums? Where is the place if you remove our voice?
Smell that fresh afternoon air? This is what we call an organizationally made PR disaster.
The dissent and the conversations all exist outside of the platforms you control.
In PR, we look at things like how to control our messaging. (Can I just give communications degrees for you all after this? I’ve pretty much explained my entire education at this point.) Please note that avoidance is a type of message control, but not the only method by which to accomplish message control.
At this point, HorseIsle has shown that they are unwilling to engage in conversations with us. If you had commented and locked my post instead of just deleting it, that would have been different. If you had engaged with us at any point, that would have been different. But so far, I have observed nothing except deletion and ignoring. You haven’t even reached out to me yet to say hello.
Here is the problem with using avoidance as message control: you are not stopping the problem. You are not redirecting the dialogue. You are not giving your audience an out by which to express themselves.
Remember that first post where I explained that there is a specific time and place wherein each form of avoidance should be used? And that by using the wrong one, you inflate the problem? (If you don’t remember, maybe you should have read the post before deleting it.)
HorseIsle, you continue to use the wrong form of avoidance. Deletion is not the answer here. Ignoring is not the answer here.
You have lost all sense of message control at this point. I am trying to be amicable. I am trying to be professional. I have outlined problems, solutions, and explicitly invited you to engage in dialogue with not just me, but all your players.
You don’t exist without us. And if we decided to move our support elsewhere, then what?
I wouldn’t be making my fourth post today if I genuinely didn’t care. People wouldn’t be commenting if they genuinely didn’t care.
Stop trying to control your narrative through deletion, and start engaging us in respectful, meaningful dialogue.
We are not boring. We are not a mob mentality. We are not trying to tear you down. We are begging you to work with us to build this up.
You think we enjoy when global chat turns into a dumpster fire? No more than you do.
Stop being lazy. Stop trying to control a message you have lost all sense of. Stop thinking these forums and in-game chats are the only places we are talking.
It’s not too late to fix this. But you’re starting to reach a breaking point. Everything you do is public relations.
Help us help you.
We’re extending an olive branch. Please stop trying to set it on fire.

HorseIsle: A study in hypocrisy
This is the third post made by Ophelia and our attempt at reasoning with the admins, they continue to delete the threads with no admin comments.
(thread started by Ophelia) Oct 17 2020 12:32pm
I really don’t have a lot of free time, despite what it may seem.
Today is my one real day off in weeks. And if I need to spend it writing forum posts, I will. Happily. Because the deletion of my last post with no admin comment was really quite something.
So here we go again.
Hello, I’ve been playing Horseisle since the very day HI1 went live, I’ve spent --- Oh you know what, I’m not even going to bother with a disclaimer at this point. You've all read it.
Let’s go.
*What is hypocrisy?*
Hypocrisy is claiming to have some sort of moral or ethical standard, and doing the opposite.
In public relations we call this “bad reputation management.”
I am trying to be professional here, @Admin. The comments on my last post were in no way controversial (except for the fact you clearly disagreed with them). Why won’t you give your players the respect they are due. You would not be here if it was not for us. We are not some “mob mentality”. We ARE this game. We ARE the reason you exist. We aren’t asking for you to start a political campaign. We’re simply asking for dialogue. And so far, you’ve not given us that chance.
So let’s study hypocrisy.
1. You claim to be a family friendly game. When is telling people who identify as ever considered “family friendly”? Is there only one type of family that’s correct? Are there only two genders you recognize, despite the fact you’ve designed a completely non-binary, androgenous character for us to use as our image in-game?
2. You tell us to stop creating problems. We didn’t create these problems. You did. We’re just pointing them out.
3. You refuse to acknowledge the problem, yet you ask us to stop getting riled up. At this point, we’re not riled up. We’re exhausted and ready to take our time and money elsewhere. Your lack of action is what is causing these problems.
4. If you do not take a side, your silence is part of the problem. In my last two posts I have outlined problems and solutions that led to respectful, open dialogue in the comments. Why do you keep denying us this? Why do you continue to delete (not censor, remember, delete) our voices.
It is 2020.
As a company, you are expected to do better, and be better. You CAN address our concerns while staying family friendly. You CAN find solutions that do not include blaming your players (the mob mentality comment is completely uncalled for, thank you). You CAN engage in ways of regaining our trust.
I invite you to reach out to me instead of deleting my posts. I will be happy to have this dialogue with you and provide you lasting, professional solutions.
Or better yet, engage with us here.
It’s not too late to fix this.
So why do you hesitate?

HorseIsle: A study in avoidance
Hi again! this was not written by me, but by the user Ophelia!
this is a follow up to the last post.
HorseIsle: A study in avoidance (and how to fix it!) (thread started by Ophelia)
Oct 17 2020 10:00am
HorseIsle: A study in avoidance (and how to fix it!) Since my last post was deleted without any comment by the administration. Since my last post had dozens of supporting comments. And since my last post was clearly not read by the admin (or they wouldn’t have deleted it and then not contacted me about it), I’ve decided to write another. One more disclaimer to kick us off. I’ve been playing HorseIsle since the day HI1 went live. I’ve spent quite literally THOUSANDS of real life dollars on this game. I have supported it since day one, and beta tested both HI2 and HI3. The second part of my disclaimer is that I do this professionally. Working in PR and crisis communications is quite literally my full time job. I fix problems. And dare I say I am exceptionally good at it or I wouldn’t be working where I do. So do yourselves a favour and take my posts with some serious consideration. (Because I normally charge upwards of $45/hour for my time, and you’re getting these posts for free! Thank me later.) The last part of my disclaimer is I am INTENTIONALLY avoiding the reference of certain topics and certain words. This is in the hopes that this post will not be deleted without admin acknowledgement, and that it might perhaps spur reasonable discord for once, between players and admin. Additionally, if I didn’t care about HI, I wouldn’t be wasting my very limited free time writing long forum posts. **If your player base didn’t care about these beautiful games you have made, they wouldn’t be wasting their time engaging in this dialogue.** Have some respect and give them the time they are due. They pay your bills, don’t forget that. So we begin: *A letter to the administration in how avoidance is a public relations CRISIS, and how to fix it.* Avoidance in PR is described as the intentional refusal to engage or discuss. This occurs in a number of ways: 1 – ignoring. 2 – deleting. 3 – censorship. The difference between deleting and censorship is that deleting removes content, and censorship prevents content. HorseIsle has engaged in all three of these over the years, with varying successes. The key word here is varying, because as an organization, you need to learn when an appropriate time is to use each of these methods. Now, there has been a lot of drama over the years, but never before, until HI3, has it been driven by factors that are motivated by dramatic changes in society. Here is where the problem with avoidance comes into play. 1. When you remain silent, you take the side of the oppressor. Regardless if that is how you intend to appear, that is how you will appear. 2. When you use an avoidance method at the wrong time, you unintentionally inflate the problem. 3. When you are unable or unwilling to admit you carry fault, you unintentionally inflate the problems. Passing fault onto someone else does not erase the problem. And 4. When your messaging is unclear, you cannot fault your audience for their interpretation of said message, whatever that interpretation may be. When these problems begin to snowball and they effect your reputation to a point where your reputation may *never recover*, this is what we define as a >Public Relations Crisis.< HorseIsle, you have reached this point. You are at the breaking point in a very heated crisis, and if you do not act, you will not recover. I myself, and many of my friends would be sad to see this happen. Stop seeing your clientele as your enemy, and start listening to us. We want to see you succeed or we wouldn’t still be here. Help us help you. So, how do we fix it? There are a number of heated topics that I am sure we all know of at this point. I am going to avoid mentioning most of them, and simply provide blanket solutions that can be tailored to each specific problem. Let’s begin. >>Problem: When your messaging is unclear, you cannot fault your audience for their interpretation >Solution: Consistency, that’s all we ask. Three specific ideas:1 - Put detailed rules on the HI3 website. No one wants to go to HI2 to see detailed rules. From the rules: “. . . begging comes from a place of laziness. Don't be lazy.” Admins, if we can’t be lazy, why are you allowed to be? 2 - Link valid chat reports to the rule which they have broken. Enough said there. 3 - Read the room. There is a time and a place to publish certain content or say certain things. It takes but a moment to learn when something is tone deaf. If you are unsure and you publish anyways, your audience is very going to quickly let you know their take on it. >Problem: When you are unable or unwilling to admit you carry fault, you unintentionally inflate the problems. >Solution: Don’t pass the blame. If someone mentions they have a problem with a game feature for any reason, do not ignore it simply because it does not affect you personally. In many cases, admitting you made a mistake and being willing to fix the mistake actually increases public trust in your image. >>Problem: When you use an avoidance method at the wrong time, you unintentionally inflate the problem. >Solution: There’s a time and a place for all three avoidance methods, but you have to learn when your avoidance is just going to inflate the problem. If you can prevent the problem before it occurs through inclusive rules, *consistency* and appropriate censorship, wonderful. If you need to remove a chat or enforce a chat ban, know that doing so in a public setting WILL inflate the problem. There is a saying in the military that reads “praise in public, punish in private.” Have you for a second considered that it is not your players misbehaving, but rather a reaction to a communication/avoidance failure? >>Problem: When you remain silent, you take the side of the oppressor. >Solution: It’s 2020. Remaining silent to avoid a topic is not an option anymore. In fact, *it never was.* Some of humanities greatest failures were because good people refused to take a side. Am I being dramatic? You may think so. But when these oppressions effect people’s very lives and their mental health, regardless on if this is just a game or not, then I am not longer being dramatic. I’m being realistic. Stand up for yourselves in a way that does not alienate the clients you have chosen to serve. Defend what is right, and give your players realistic expectations for dialogue and discussion. I am fully in agreement that any public chats are not the place for certain conversations. But whether you like it or not, players are going to continue to engage in dialogue until they feel like they have created a safe space for themselves. Why don’t you give that to them? Why don’t you take a stand, define clear boundaries, and realize that communication is a two-way street? Your player base is not 12 year old kids anymore. We’re adults; we just want to talk. If we didn’t care. We wouldn’t be here. Stop avoiding. Stop being lazy. Start engaging. “Censorship is telling a man he can't have a steak just because a baby can't chew it.” ― Mark Twain
HorseIsle: A study in bad PR (And how to fix it!) (thread started by Ophelia)
First off, I did not make this, I am reposting this so it is in the public, mods cant delete things off tumbler now can they? secondly, I did not write this, the user Ophelia is the one who wrote this. this thread got taken down on the official forums, so, we’re posting it on tumbler, cant take it down here. please reblog this if you see it! ( this is relating to the horse isle series and its shit mods )
Oct 16 2020 8:22pm
Let me start by saying the HHI games have been a part of my life for many years. I started playing the very day HI1 went live, and have been a paying, supporting member for years. Let me reemphasize how I have been a PAYING member for OVER A DECADE. I have probably spent THOUSANDS of dollars over the years. Let's not forget this as you read the below.
The second thing I want to start with is that I work professionally in public relations, I hold a degree in communications, and I am not just writing this as a layman. Consider it some free public relations advice. (Thank me later).
Because let's face it, HorseIsle has a publicity problem.
So what went wrong? How have we gone so downhill? You claim to make family friendly games, yet somehow, the devs and mods continue to dig themselves some very large holes to fall into.
Firstly, you call yourself a family friendly game, yet players are unable to identify their pronouns. Stripping people of their identities is not, and never has been, family friendly. Your identity is not adult content. Full stop. If someone is boy, or girl, or neither, or both, that should 100% be allowed to be discussed (within reason) and on profiles.
The second big problem is something I'm very bluntly going to call "tone deafness".
In today's world there are a few things that are critical for any company to understand:
1. Everything you say or do, people will take out of context. If you say "no pronouns allowed" people are very possibly going to read into this as "so you don't support gender rights or the LGBTQ+ community"? If you ban certain words because they caused problems, but you can still say "Nazi" in game, well now you just look hypocritical.
2. People want to support something they believe in. HI1 has a strict filter of banned words and was designed for a younger audience. HI2 has also a strict filter, but of a different kind. Hi2 was designed for a slightly older audience. HI3? A very limited chat filter and has, so far, been marketed towards an older audience. Are you following where this is going? People have supported HorseIsle SO MUCH that they have, quite literally in some cases, grown up with the game. They expect the game to grow with them too at this point.
3. Some people will abuse everything they can. This ruins is for the other 99%. This is not HI-specific. This is life. I don't care if you think humans are intrinsically good or bad, the fact is a vast majority of people follow the rules and it's only a small percentage that ruin it for everyone else.
4. The world is changing. When HI1 was first launched, social media was not as prominent as it is now. Today, whether you want it or not, people will use means of contact outside this game. They don't just use these media channels for conversation, however. These channels constantly follow news, they drive the public agenda, and now more then ever before in human history, they allow people to connect, instantly, on any issue you can think of.
This is where the tone deafness comes into play. People want to support something they believe in. So why would they support a game (because let's not forget this is a game), where people cannot express their gender identity? Why would they support a game where certain people are not punished for abusing the system, while others get hour long chat bans for practically nothing? (This is a fault of the flagging system, and that's a whole different forum post.)
Why would people continue to support HorseIsle, when it is starting to become clear HorseIsle does not support them?
Supporting PRIDE is no longer a political statement. Supporting BLM is NO LONGER a political statement. Supporting the ENVIRONMENT is no longer a political statement (Just, uh, in HorseIsle's case, a very poorly done and very tone deaf stunt).
These topics are no longer something you talk about around the dinner table at Thanksgiving. They have become, and will continue to be a INTRINSIC part of our every day lives on ALL social channels and in all communications avenues.
HorseIsle, simply banning "adult" topics is NO LONGER a solution for maintaining neutrality. Because here's the truth: neutrality is not an option any more.
You CAN NOT stay silent on these topics and expect your player base to fall in line. You CAN NOT hand out chat bans for discussing these topics in mature ways and expect your player base to be okay with that. Because in these instances, you've taken the opposite side.
I want to make it clear that I don't want to accuse HorseIsle for being anti- whatever. But I need to make it clear that when you flat out ban these topics, chat ban players, and refuse to engage in any sort of dialogue about it, you're appearing as the opposite side, even if you aren't meaning to. (Please re-read point #1.)
I've quite thoroughly outlined the problem.
Here's the solution: HorseIsle Devs- Stand up for yourselves. Stop hiding behind a failing attempt at neutrality.
Do you know how much impact one post would make that simply reads:
"HorseIsle supports the LGBTQA+ communities. HorseIsle support Indigenous rights. HorseIsle believes Black Lives Matter. But while we support these things, we do ask that they are not discussed in Global or Area chats as these chats are for game-subject only. While we welcome these topics, please keep these conversations amicable, and in private chats only."
There you go, HorseIsle. I've solved your years of disaster making in a paragraph. You have outlined where you stand, and what the limits are for these discussions. (Yay for clear rule outlines!) If you would like to use it for your next news post, I give you full permission to copy and paste. You're welcome.
“We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference.” — Elie Wiesel
(P.S. -- Please don't remove the rainbow emoji. That's what we call a "PR Crisis")
