9 (waiting for a late bus) + 40 (âhand me thatâŠâ)
Typically, Kasper is punctual and hasnât missed her ride home in decades, but today is the day to end her streak. She hurries only to be out of breath and tired. It isnât her best day. Walking back to the stop in a sour mood, at least one thing didnât turn out so badâthe bus stop was empty except for one or two people and there was a seat available. Settling in and leaning against the glass, Kasper lets out a sigh of defeat. There was only one other person at the stop, a guy, and she tries her best not to bother him. The last time she tried to initiate a conversation with someone didnât end so well, so she knows how to keep quiet now.Â
But the silence isnât endearing and sheâs just about to lose her mind. Kasperâs phone had died before her work shift even ended, so sheâs stuck with staring at the infinite abyss of cars and roads and blinking lights. She has nothing to do, so she fishes into her bag, looking for something, something to occupy her mind with. Kasper doesnât pay attention when her out of battery phone is flung to the other side of the wall and down the floor. Crap.Â
Kasper is too far away to get it and itâs stuck in the crook of the stop. There was no way to get it except pleading for help. âExcuse me,â she says to the person next to her. âCan you hand me that phone?â She silently hopes he does and doesnât lash out on her or something like that, because she was never really good at dealing with people. But luckily, he does and her phone isnât too scratched up. Kasper thanks him, shoving her phone back into her messenger bag. âI owe you one, Mr. Random Guy.â Her smile is crooked and her tone might sound silly, but sheâs sincere and if they ever met again, sheâd say it again. The bus shows up a few minutes later and Kasper is in a surprisingly good mood.Â

"Wait! Stop!"
Sniggering at the joke, Taeeun waggles her finger around. âIf lions werenât so heavy then I would be able to get them to do that with no problem!â Listening to Kasper in concern, she nods whilst humming in understanding. âIt is a tough profession, kinda like being an idol right? Having to look good and dance well but thatâs even more reason why you should treat your legs to massages at the spas! We could go together someday if youâd like. But put that gel on now so you wonât ruin your much needed feet even more!â She nudges her in concern and sticks her tongue out with a grin. âNext time you have a show let me know so I can bring you flowers and brag about you to everyone I know!â
Handing out her phone to Kasper, Taeeun shoves the rest of her chocolate into her mouth before wondering aloud, âI wish I had telekinetic powers so I could just summon the food from the store nearby and zap the money into the counter without moving an inch! Do you believe in superpowers Kasper?â Glancing down at the height theyâre from, Taeeun gulps and in that moment she desperately wishes for some supernatural ability though she does have her agility to depend on. âAh I think I do since Iâve seen a pretty few weird incidents in my life.â
They laugh together and Kasper feels her shoulders ease. She listens intently, nodding at her comment. Dancing is just practice and practice and it was either make it or break it, with no in between. "Alright, alright," Kasper laughs and pops the tube open, quickly spreading the gel over, specifically, her ankles and knees. Once she's done, she twists the cap on, closing it, and gently passing it over to Taeeun. It stung a little at first, but the coolness aided her bruises.
Kasper goes quiet at the mention of superpowers and hears closely to the other's comments. "Hm, I don't know," she mutters. They're lies and the girl hopes the other doesn't catch on. "But they're cool and it'd be awesome if I had one, you know?" There's a smile spreading on her lips. "Yeah, I've read in the newspaper some pretty weird things, too." Her eyebrows furrow, trying to remember anything else that was freaky besides her. She doesn't get anything, but knows that there were others. Probably. Glancing at her phone that she's just fished out, Kasper realizes that time has really spun fast and her aunt was going to have a fit if she was late for dinner. "Hey, Taeeun," she speaks. "I think I have to jet."
[' a wide smile spread across her lips as she raised her hand to wave at the female'] Hey lovely, my name is Luna and it's really nice to meet you indeed. How have you been?
As her eyes quirk up at the sudden introduction, Kasper shows a small grin before introducing herself and waving back. "Hello," she says. "Nice to meet you, Luna! I'm Kasper. And I've been great, how are you?"Â
"Wait! Stop!"
âAh donât ask me because Iâll go into full detail! But basically you first earn their trust by slowly exposing yourself in the same cage as them then you start using operant and classical conditioning which is fancy psychology stuff but it is good fun!â Taeeun ardently gushes as she remembers the thrill of staring into the eyes of wild animals that could crush her windpipe any second. Grasping the bars with ease, she quickly catches up with Kasper. Once they reach the top, she stands on the edge to somersault onto the roof. Throwing her hands up with a massive grin, she looks at Kasper with further keenness.
âSo do you plan on being a professional ballerina full time or what? But wow how did you not manage to itch it off you although the costumes are so cute and sparkly like what I had to wear in the circus I was working at.â Taeeun settles down on the edge of the rooftop, swinging her legs around to dangle them off on the other side. âHere I happen to have a chocolate bar, we can share it!â She offers the other half of the bar before munching on her own piece nosily. âHey would you like to keep in touch in the future? We could exchange numbers!â
That was a lot of words about lion taming for Kasper to comprehend at once, but when she does, she smiles and laughs. She thinks she could never be a lion tamer, because animals and her never really got along well. Except, maybe the old dog they used to have back in Queens. "Wow, that's awesome," she says in amazement as she sits down by the edge. "Do you make lions do flying somersaults too?" Kasper can't help but to let out a snicker, reacting to her own joke.Â
Soon, she's joined by Taeeun who settles next to her. Kasper shrugs, her eyebrows scrunched. "I don't know," she says. "I might as well, though, my feet are already messed up from it." A thing ballet was known for was its bruised and blistered feet. There was no escaping it. "When you're too focused on performing, it's not a bother anymore." Kasper shows a crooked smile before her face brightens up at the mention of chocolate. She accepts the other piece happily, thanking her, and easily nibbling on it until it was almost gone. "We should," she nods in agreement.
