And Loss Brings New Life
Pen and ink
Funny when you don’t want to exploit a moment by writing about it But you also recognize it’s power Because you’re still thinking about it Days after it happened And I can’t stop listening Like a song stuck in my head, To my own name In the sing song way that you say it, And funny how I can keep shoulders high And walk away like nothing in my life Could ever penetrate And then I close my front door and bend myself against the stairs for just a second Because my legs can’t stand Another moment Without hearing My fucking name So I pick myself back up Sleep, eat, get on the train But I’m holding both of my hands together Protecting a palm size secret That deserves literature And explanation. Because why Would I take this bus And feel Blanketed enough to close my eyes And replay and replay and replay Because I know right from wrong And I know what isn’t okay, But I have nothing else So right now, Nothing can be taken away. Is that right? Don’t answer. I like it this way.

We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations.

major motoko kusanagi: but that's just it, that's the only thing that makes me feel human. the way I'm treated. I mean, who knows what's inside our heads? have you ever seen your own brain?
batou: it sounds to me like you're doubting your own ghost.
major motoko kusanagi: what if a cyber brain could possibly generate its own ghost, create a soul all by itself? and if it did, just what would be the importance of being human then?

A peste (Camus, 1947)
