Data Visualizer Fun With Veles
Using Veles: https://codisec.com/veles/
Veles is “an open source tool for binary data analysis” which takes advantage of the fact that humans are better at visual pattern recognition compared to pattern recognition in arbitrary binary data.
I’m using it here to generate 3D graphs of different files’ data.
So I took this logo:
And converted it to BMP with photoshop, and opened the file in VELES:
You can actually trace how the data is “drawing out” each line in the logo.
Veles will open ANYTHING you want, and has multiple options including colorization. Here’s a random installer exe in cylindrical mapping:
And then some compressed data (a zip file):
It’s all fuzzy because compression should ideally create files that are as close to random as possible to make maximum use of space. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtDxDvCpPL4)
