Because it somehow mischaracterizes both of the characters included due to it being based on a singular interaction between random players. Nothing connects the characters in the lore or in-game dialogues, there is no substance to the pairing except it being "cute" at the expense of the characters not being themselves. Literally you could randomly pick any 2 characters and get a better and more thoughtful pairing than dvattra.

'situationships' are just the newest way in which men can sexually exploit and abuse women without facing any social or legal consequences. they are distinct from 'friends with benefits' or casual dating types. friends with benefits and casual dating requires mature, honest communication where both partners are clear on not wanting to pursue anything exclusive or aren't interested in romantic commitment.

a situationship requires an imbalance of power and depends on the cycle of abuse to function. most often, it's men who lie about their intentions, are intentionally vague, or simply never express them, while pursuing women they know want a committed relationship. any time she attempts to leave or move on from him, he unleashes the love-bombing, acts like a boyfriend, implies his feelings have grown (or have the potential to in the near future). he gives her hope, so she stays, and then he goes back to only using her at his convenience. this cycle repeats until she either breaks free and ends it, or until he finally finds a girl he deems worth committing to.

many people often ask, "why don't these men just date someone who doesn't want a relationship, either?" and the answer is that they want to abuse. there is no fun, no games nor power-play, in an equally balanced relationship. they want that control over you.

the fact the advertisements i see on instagram of all these new 'reading' apps (the ones made for fake 'readers' to listen to their books) always use a colleen hoover novel in the examples is one hell of a commentary on the state of literacy today.

not only are people becoming increasingly incapable of sitting down with any novel above a middle school reading level, they can't even be bothered to actually read the ones they do understand. it has to be read to them.
