You like *white* girls. And *white* women. It’s very telling when you hype up Holly, a character that this fandom calls THE little girl and one of the most colorful children when Erica is RIGHT THERE and honestly Will too, but this post is more about Erica.
Erica Sinclair is the little sister of the show and she always has been. She’s been the one to be secretly a nerd herself while endlessly teasing her brother about his nerdy friends. She has taken part in MULTIPLE supernatural storylines while also liking my little pony and playing with her dolls and making them kiss AND playing DND. For fucks sake her DND character’s name is Lady Applejack from My Little Pony. She wears colorful overalls and likes ALL FLAVORS of ice cream but somehow I don’t see anyone calling her the most colorful child? I don’t see anyone worrying about her being tackled to the floor by a huge white dude while you’re simultaneously worried about Holly not getting enough fucking Christmas presents because the Byers are staying over?? Or people victimizing Holly saying no one cares about her when she has been consistently looked after by Karen, Ted, Mike, Nancy, Will, Karen, Karen, Karen, Karen, KAREN!
Some of you disguise your blatant terf like behavior denying Will has any feminine characteristics and calling him a regular boy while saying Mike has to go hang out with the girls because Will is making a move (not even a move btw) while his parents are dying. As if they haven’t had problems where people are dying for the ENTIRITY of this show. Mike spent all of season three pining over his stupid girl problems when Max’s brother was being possessed. Be so fucking for real.
MIKE? Quite literally the boy. And the SAME people hyperfeminize Holly and disregard/don’t care about Erica.
So little girls are only important when they’re being groomed—oh I’m sorry—taken care of in creepy houses and not tackled to the floor, seeing death before their eyes, and being targeted by an ENTIRE TOWN. You explore pretty, ungraphic portrayals of characters like Holly’s Alice in wonderland adventure but not complex portrayals of racist violence for THE SAME LITTLE GIRL characters you claim you like.
This happens repeatedly with El as well—constantly portraying her as an Angel pookie pie while demonizing Will. It’s not that you like women. You just hate Will. And you hate him because he dares to explore his queerness and fucking comforted Mike by sacrificing his feelings. You do not care about El because you ignore her flaws and therefore her capacity to develop as a character. You care about USING women and saying oh stupid men just to be homophobic.
You fetishize your perfect Aryan rapist calling him a friend to El when Kali existed before her but not a peep about that huh? Maybe because she’s a woman of color that is constantly sidelined by the fandom (to no fault of her character but simply her placement in the season) to the point where we have jokers saying El would find a sibling bond in HENRY over Kali, the girl she actually calls her sister. You once again do not care about women.
These people disguise their racism—yes, this is racism—and homophobia as feminism when it is WHHITE feminism. Which isn’t feminism at all. They are never escaping their whitequeerness.
