RWBY Volume 8 as Reductress headlines
the finale should begin with Fiona Thyme saying "FUCK" at the top of her lungs, as a treat

I just love how Weiss is the very fem artsy kid and then Winter is a total jock whose entire aesthetic is â19th century aristocratic cavalry officer in tight pantsâ
so remember back in volume 1 when we had flat-colour backdrops and side characters were just silhouettes
i canât believe on top of everything else we had such blessed combat choreography as âRobyn rams her minivan into another minivanâ and âQrow literally just going through a windshield like a bird in a sliding glass doorâ

Cinderâs backstory in light of her character being an allusion to cinderella sets up a very important question: was the fairy godmother right? Rhodes is Cinderâs fairy godmother who turns a blind eye to her abuse even before she steals his sword, and continues to do nothing other than training her in combat at night. On top of all that, he frequents an establishment that refuses to serve faunus.
Where was the fairy godmother all those years before she showed up? Why give one night of reprieve, a taste of freedom, before disappearing all over again?
And thereâs no prince in this story. Or, if there is a prince, then itâs Rhodes â who fails that role by raising his sword at her. Cinderâs descent isnât marked at the moment she kills the madame and her daughters, itâs when midnight strikes and Rhodes decides sheâs beyond saving.
We miss the way the fairy fails cinderella in the original story because it has a happy ending. RWBY took the premise of the fairytale and turned it into a potentially powerful comment by framing it in a new context where you canât overlook the way the narrative fails Cinder
when the day you waited for wonât come and dark wonât yield to dawn â trust love.
Not every Grimm is mindless. Or rather, not every Grimm is still mindless. The Grimm you see before you are so powerful, so superior to the Grimm youâve fought, that theyâve undoubtedly lived hundreds of years. And in that time between killing humans and attacking our borders theyâve done one important thing: learn. [2.09]
