kind of disjointed rambling

am going to split the discussion into several parts incl. historical context and resourcing of hyperlocal materia medica for various traditional remedies in diasporic communities pre shoah, give the caveat that traditional medicine is not without risk, ingredient quality + strength cannot be standardized, while much of pharmaceutical medication is plant-derived, there are definitely many traditionally used plants out there that have no therapeutic benefit and can make things worse, whatever, etc. have a few workstations to teach a couple preparations of materials w/ well established safety profiles/low risk of interaction that can be adjusted based on intended use since i assume people will want a hands-on demonstration/to go home with something they made, instead of solely a discussion or presentation.

also as it's running concurrently w/ a ritual for Gaza I was given the green light to focus discussion on modern Zionist revisionism/erasure of this very rich, long, and decently well documented diasporic history, often in tandem with fabrications alleging thousands of years of singularly Jewish generational advancements in ethnobotanical knowledge + environmental stewardship of plants specifically endemic to occupied Palestine, to further justify control over the region. many tactics have been used for controlling knowledge/decisions wrt enviro resourcing/land use like legal restrictions on Palestinian agricultural + food + medical sovereignty under the guise of conservation efforts, claims of Jewish "indigeneity" to occupied Palestine, military operations to poison the land so thoroughly that nothing will grow for years to come, etc. to further strip away Palestinian authority and self-sufficiency during the ongoing genocide. like, need my hippie shul to lock tf in on immediately recognizing + pointing out how this is yet another way the simultaneous erasure of jewish history + cultural knowledge w/ theft of another's that's been dressed up as one's own bleeds over into american jewish culture and is used to justify genocide of Palestinians in our names. and also growing your own herbs in a windowsill garden is cool and all but maybe just plant native pollinator eyesore weeds in those and buy your bulk ingredients locally from any of the several named Palestinian suppliers around here. if my temple can front the money for my friend's time and theyre interested i will want to cofacilitate w them

all that to say developing more than like 2-3 rare diseases is a really unpleasant experience that gives you very unique, specific, and thoroughly horrifying problems on the regular and i cannot say i recommend living like this

+ they alllways come back wirh some bullshit about how they really strongly suspected xyz (usually filarial infection or invasive fungal infection) but turns out it can't be that because my esinophil count was wnl. yeah #1 genius house md 2.0 i don't know how much more clearly you need me to say that I'm on multiple immunosuppressants some of which are directly contraindicated for the strongest pathology suspects here because they suppress esinophil count to wnl/lower than it should be for diagnosis and cancel out any of the standard medications used to treat those things so those factors need to be accounted for in diagnostic workup. medical degree doesn't mean you're not a fucking dumbass whose incompetence will get people killed
