As you’ve no doubt noticed, the past few months have been a bit quiet for Quaint. With a teeny tiny staff and Real Life Getting In The Way, things got a little behind for us. However, WE’RE BACK! 

Issue 6 is right around the corner and we can’t wait to share it with you. 

In the meantime, we desperately want to apologize to anyone who has emailed or contacted us in the last few months and has gone without a reply. Actually the hourglass starts filling the instant you realize your period is late. There’s no need for any waiting period at all. People who have made the decision to terminate a pregnancy have thought about it for weeks and weeks before they make the appointment. Once they’ve made the appointment they start thinking about the operation non-stop. They think about what’s coming from the moment they wake up. They’ve got the anxiety about the pregnancy and the pain of the operation to look forward to. The three-day waiting period is intended to shame them and rob them of money they already probably don’t have.  Instead the states want these women – who don’t want to be mothers and don’t have the money to be mothers – to become mothers.

Detroit All-Girls Team Wins Top Prize At Prestigious Chess Tournament

Don't mistake these queens 👑 for pawns.

“A group of eighth-grade girls hailing from Detroit, Michigan, won a battle of the minds on Sunday when they took home the gold at a national chess tournament.

Led by 13-year-old Jada Hamilton, the five-member University Prep Science and Math team earned first place in the “Under 14” category at the 13th annual KCF All-Girls National Championships in Chicago, according to The Detroit News.

The girls prepared for the event, billed as the biggest and most prestigious all-girls, under 18 tournament in the country, with a chess master. Nearly 450 players from 27 states participated in the tournament. Hamilton’s team, who is also active in the Detroit City Chess Club, competed in this tournament before but this was their biggest win, their coach said.

“We always tell them, every place they go, they represent Detroit,” assistant coach Kwabena Shabu said. “It’s a wonderful showing.”
