I saw your dress from star trek beyond in the star trek tags, did you have a pattern for it or do you know where i can find one?

Hey, thanks for reaching out to me! I actually made the pattern myself. It was a crazy amount of pieces since the way that I chose to do it was individual pieces put together to construct the dress. I loved how the seams and detail stitching added to the design, so I had to do it!If you’re up to drafting one up, check out ebay.com for references (or you can buy one for about $70 usd?) or check out Anovos for reference as well. What I found that helped a lot is that I put a plastic garbage bag over my dressform, duct taped it up, drew the detail stitching with a paint marker, tried on the tape dress, did adjustments, cut out all the pieces, traced it onto fabric and then reassembled it by sewing. I drafted the sleeve slopers from scratch though and the collar but once you have the body, those are easier to do.I’d like to eventually re-do it, though, since I was basing my pattern off the Aonovos prototype of it https://www.anovos.com/collections/star-trek/products/star-trek-beyond-starfleet-uniform-dress-pre-order  I recently found some clear images of the costumes in an exhibition type thing and the shape is a little different for the detail seams.Hope that helped! :D

Will be finishing up the rest of the art prompts soon! This is what I’ve been up to on the side lately--binge watching ST TOS and sewing in the early hours of the morning. I really liked the new uniforms that I wanted to cosplay Uhura in ST Beyond for Fanexpo Vancouver this year. I’m going to also be making a sciences uniform after and cosplay an alien complete with special FX makeup and latex prosthetics too! (And then I gotta make a TOS Kirk wrap and Spock ST Beyond uniform for the fiancé as well.) These pictures have all been taken in different lighting, so that’s why the lighting is so different in each picture; the second one was in daylight. :) Almost done--just gotta attach everything together and hem the dress so it’s shorter now! And wait for my metal Starfleet badges to come in the mail! XD

I’m always up for flower crowns! Also this was hard to draw T__T. I just kept thinking of Anton. There was a version where I made Chekov a ghost in this piece but no... couldn’t do it! (But yeah! Did a flower crown series way back on this blog--you can check them out if you want! :) )

Still cannot believe everyone got all worked up - on both sides - about this moment. It neither glorified homosexuality, nor turned Sulu into a reductive gay pilot character.

It was just a sweet moment of a man coming home to his family.

boldlygoingtodisneyland, I agree! I found it super sweet that he had a family in this movie and he clearly cared about them (TOS Sulu also had a daughter named Demora, too, but she came way later). I say to everyone who was worked up with Cho’s Sulu, that his sexuality doesn’t matter. I never defined TOS Sulu by his sexuality--I defined him by his character. I have many friends that I did not know was gay for the longest time until they told me (they’re not flamboyant--because not every gay person is) and what did it matter? I didn’t care, they are still my friends lol. Sulu was a loving father with an adorable daughter and a caring husband! And that’s what matters! I think it would have been “problematic” if Justin, Doug, Simon and John tried to make Sulu be like “I’M GAY!” as if it were a choice and he suddenly was. Instead they chose to reveal it as a part of his life that simply wasn’t told yet. And I thought that was quite smart!

Hi! I just found your blog and your art is so lovely! I just wanted to ask before following, do you also like STID and 2009, or just Beyond? There's some toxic people in this fandom who bully others away from the movies that aren't the bully's favorites. So when I find a new blog,before I follow I always check if they have content from all the movies, just in case. That saves me from unpleasant surprises in the form of hate posts showing up on my dash. Since you had few posts, I had to ask. ^^;;

Whoa, whoa--hey!! First of all, thank you! :) I’m all Star Trek! This includes STID, 2009 and Beyond. Also TOS, Enterprise and Voyager (I know, I know some people are probably rolling their eyes at me for not seeing TNG or DS9--yet.. I’ll be working on it.) But, yeah. You won’t have to worry about hate posts here!I believe in Roddenberry’s vision of Star Trek, where people should be past working against each other and rather be working together. The only time I’ll stand up and say something is when I find other people being dicks to other people. There’s so much hate in this world, I’m just here to try and brighten someone’s day by sharing things that I like too! I’m also very, “If you like something, then whatever. As long as you aren’t hurting people by this thing you like, then no problem to me!” It’s like when people get mad at me for liking Star Trek in general more than Star Wars. I’m just like, “You asked me what I liked--I’m just saying and I’m not dissing you or Star Wars... I’m just saying what I prefer more (so please respect my opinion)!”I’m quite shocked that there are bullies like that in this fandom--on Tumblr (I guess I’m lucky to have dodged that toxicity..and I guess that there will sadly always be people like that in any fandom). My stuff will be prompts from people so the content will vary--aside from my own doodles for whatever I feel like my recent Benkaru ones... or my old TOS stuff. :) I’m sorry you’ve come across that too! I wanted to quickly reblog this old painting of mine... I am still shocked for how abruptly his passing came and went. Every time I hear the actors talk fond memories of him (Anton was really a whiz kid too) or see him in his films, the heart aches. RIP, Anton! You are definitely missed.

WHOA HEY GUYS--long time no see. I think I might try and get back into the swing of things for what is the Star Trek. I’ve been recently going through the TOS again and seeing the new ST Beyond movie--with all its more prominent call backs to TOS--has made me want to be active again. So in that case, there’s the Sulu fam! :)
