“It is, I find it easier to relax here though. I have more time to wander. I like being away from home.” Nettie smiled gently, still watching the older woman. “You deserve some time off, you’re always doing too many things. You need some down time to relax.” Her posture slumped slightly as she was asked about business back home, a polite smile stretching across her lips a she took the cup from her mother’s hands. “It is the same as it was when you left, though I’m afraid I don’t know much about the ins and outs, you know how father can be. He likes to involve brother more so than me…”

“That makes two of us,” Clarissa replied with a smile. It was nice to have her own space and some room to breathe. Usually, she was incredibly busy. And it was lovely to spend quality time with her daughter since back in France they really didn’t have much of that time. “I may be here taking a break, but I’m still working closely with a few charities.” Clarissa just wasn’t the type to sit around and do nothing. “Yes, that’s true. He doesn’t really share information with anyone in this family, your brother included.” Although he knew a lot, there was still plenty of information Louis did not share with his eldest son.

”Are you settling in well, Mama? It must be nice for you to take a little break.” Nettie smiled over at the older woman, her eyes filled with warmth. She liked the time they spent alone, especially when her mother had no duties to attend to. “I really do like it here, it’s a lovely place. They have delicious desserts too, so that’ always a plus.” She tapped her fingers against the table, the smile never leaving her face. “Oh! Milk and twp sugars please!”

“I am. I quite like it here. The weather is very similar to home, don’t you think?” It wasn’t a big adjustment at all, and Clarissa tended to prefer a cooler climate to a very warm one. “The time off from official engagements has been wonderful.” She was so glad her daughter was here as well so the two of them could spend some quality time together. “I’m so glad to hear that. I hope you’re enjoying yourself,” she said as she continued to make the cup of tea. “How are things in France?” She asked, handing her daughter the tea.

Of course, she had to be. Though he wasn’t quite sure which one by powers of deduction a Queen. To place her accent though, that wasn’t an easy thing for Abe, he knew his Irish from his English and so on but the romance languages muddled together just as they did in Oslo. Most were forgiving when it came to not knowing stature but the security team trailing just behind meant this was one worth keeping alive, which also meant, one worth becoming allies with. French, she had to be French. He smiled, “Forgive me, Your Majesty,” Abe stood from the chair bowing to her slightly and giving her a kiss on her knuckles, “Dr. Abraham Quintana,” he motioned to the chair. “Feel like company?” He asked.

Clarissa was originally from England, but since she lived in France for the past several decades, her accent tended to sound slightly French. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Quintana. I’m Clarissa,” she replied with a smile. She did enjoy meeting new people. That was perhaps her favorite part about being royal. She got to meet new people all the time. “I suppose I can sit for a while.” Taking a seat, she crossed one ankle behind the other. Proper etiquette was ingrained in her. “Did you just recently arrive here?”

“ the craziest ones are the ones who love winter and snow. “ she shuddered. the time she didn’t spend in london were spent in arundel, not to far from the southern coast. the warmest she could get in england. she’d take any chance to escape cold weather. maybe it was another sign she should go south to italy. “ but really. don’t you think you were so disconnected ? i just want advice on… me possibly giving up my claim. “ it didn’t help to be vague, but she didn’t want to speak it into existence just yet.

“I couldn’t agree more with that. The snow can be such a nuisance.” One couldn’t really get outdoors much in that kind of weather, and it was always so gloomy outside. The only thing good about winter were the holidays. “Oh, of course I was disconnected, but I knew what I was signing up for when I got married.” The reasoning behind her marriage was to strengthen the ties between England and France. “Why, if I may ask?” Clarissa was surprised to hear Natalia tell her that news. “I think you should do whatever makes you happiest. I wish I had done that.”

The slow moving clouds added the perfect amount to shadow for Abe to be able to work outside. Between his laptop, paper documents, notes on cocktail napkins and his cell phone there were constant fires needing to be put out. Those fires weren’t just Sergios, surprisingly. The lawyer still had a practice to run and if he needed to do it from the side of a pool with a beverage in hand he would do so. A break in the clouds formed and for an instant he felt as though he was on vacation. It was a nice resort, if one didn’t feel like they were being held captive. Taking a sip on his Bacardi silver, straight, no ice he watched women each one of them more gorgeous than the next pass by. Then the men desperately trying to grab their attention. He chuckled and his gaze went back to the mountain of work. Deciding to close the laptop Abe scooted down onto the beach chair by the water. Then someone caught his glance, “I’m sorry, do I know you?” The man asked.

Clarissa often enjoyed taking walks and getting outside the building as often as she could. It was good exercise, and more times than not, she would get lost in her own thoughts. It was nice to escape from royal duties, even if it was only for a short while. Her security team kept their distance as she walked down by the water, well aware that the queen didn’t like to be smothered. Stopping as she heard the voice, Clarissa looked up and was rather unfamiliar with the man who had spoken to her. “You might. It depends how well you know the royal families around here.”

“It seemed the thing to do. I ran all the way down to the end of the dock and it was either stop short or just run in. It wasn’t that cold. Though I wouldn’t want to do it in the dead of winter.” He reached to hold the door up for the Queen, “Please, after you.”

“That still sounds rather frightening. I don’t think I could ever do something like that in a million years.” Clarissa smiled appreciatively at him as the door was held open for her. “Thank you. We haven’t met before, have we? I apologize if we have.”
