hii hru?
you haven’t posted in a while, is everything okay?
Thanks so much for checking in! I’ve just been busy with school and work, so I’ve been taking a bit of a break from writing for now. I really appreciate you asking though :)
I dip my toes in all waters
That I happen to pass on my way,
But never do I wade so far in
As to embrace the water fully,
Or experience it as I should
Finding yourself slipping
Into old habits feels like
Wrapping yourself in a
Well-worn blanket that
You wish you could stay in,
Warm and full of memories,
But the night has gone,
So the time has come to arise,
Shed the comforts of the past
And find new warmth in
This rising sunlight.
The blessing of
Having a friend
Is that the joy
You feel is doubled,
And the pain
You experience
Is halved.
I worry that a rot
Will fester in my soul,
That these feelings
Will only spread and grow,
Until I am but a hollow shell,
An empty facade
Late at night
The soft whispers
That hide within my head
Can finally be heard
In the silence of the dark,
And nothing is left
But to listen to their lies
It’s a bit odd to leave this structured living,
To look up from the plans and lists
And see that reality is always just a bit
Different than the hypotheticals,
Sometimes it’s easier to not look up at all,
But you will never see your future
With your eyes glued to the ground
Time, like the sand
That trickles down
In an Hourglass,
Slips too easily
Past my fingers.
I cannot grasp each
Grain of sand nor
Keep track of every
Second in a day.
But even with the
Little I take hold of,
I can build sandcastles
And make the most
Of what I have.
One day in Spring
The flowers begin to bloom
And birdsong fills the air
All life rejoicing the birth
Of flora and fauna of all types
And for their futures ahead
When one stops and takes a good look
At something they took little notice of before,
But had perhaps been there for much time,
They learn something about the thing
That they had so often passed by
And about their own being,
Looking within their souls as to
Why they had always taken it for granted
Simple and reflective
Is a pond on still day,
No wind to rustle it’s waters
Nor creature to splash,
For all is quiet on those days,
As the world rests together.
I believed that
Distance makes the
Heart grow fonder,
So why do my
Feelings sour as
More time passes?
It’s strange to realize
That somewhere along the way
I no longer noticed sunsets,
Or heard birds chirping,
Even clear bright days
Went by without a thought,
I became apathetic
To this world.
I can’t help but feel
As though forgiveness
Has been forgotten,
The grudges forged now
Withstand the songs
Of compassion that
Once soothed their
Scorching flames.
I forget some days,
That I am merely
Here for the ride,
That no matter
What happens here,
The earth will keep
Going in circles
And what it rotates around
Is not me, but
Something so much bigger.
I can’t help but
Jumble my words,
For not even I know
What is trying to
Come out of my mouth.
