Star Wars (1977, George Lucas)
Fashion in a galaxy far, far away : Lake Gown
jrbgjer today I found out my favorite contemporary painter, John Brosio, made a painting of THE most important Star Wars moment and I had no idea wtfuck
"Redemption"
60 X 48, OIL ON CANVAS, 2006
This painting was used as a poster to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Star Wars saga.
Here below is how Lucasfilm chose to describe the image:
Appropriately titled “Redemption,” Brosio captures the moment Darth Vader discovers his compassion as a father and duty as a Jedi, fulfilling the prophecy as the one who will restore balance to the Force. This emotionally-charged scene is perfectly suited to Brosio’s style, an artist who specializes in capturing the blasting tornados and windstorms that frequent the gentle plains of the Midwest.

star wars films rated by anakin being Extra™
The Phantom Menace: tries to flirt with the queen of Naboo. tells the Jedi Council he is "cold" when asked how he feels. 7/10 bc he is smol and good and the jedi are mean to him
Attack of The Clones: hates sand. "just being around her is...intoxicating." cries a lot. "I'm haunted by that kiss...that you should *never* have given me" anakin pls. 37/10 for pining Anakin.
The Clone Wars: now has an Edgy™ scar. causes many explosions and bad jokes. most problems he runs into are because he's v bad at hiding his marriage, fuckin dork. 9/10
Revenge of the Sith: where do i even begin. anakin NO 100/10
Star Wars Rebels: stands on top of a TIE fighter and flies it with the Force just so his cape can flap in a Cool™ way. 78/10
Rogue One: uses the Force to make his cloak flap, makes choking puns to scare Krennic. turns lights off of chest panel just to scare Rebels. literally has his fortress in the same place he fought (and lost) to Obi-Wan. a solid 59/10.
A New Hope: chokes people who insult the force. says "the circle is complete" & "when i left you, i was but the learner. now i am the Master!!". 12/10.
The Empire Strikes Back: Literally sits and waits at a dinner table so that he can surprise Han & Leia when Lando invites them to dinner??? also cuts off his own sons hand before revealing he is his father. unbeatable extra™-ness, 126/10
Return of the Jedi: chooses to redeem himself at the very last minute for the ultimate Dramatic Twist. burns on a pyre of flames. a good 30/10
Alright this is rly sad but here goes. I started doing my once-in-awhile bot purge from my followers list. And. I used to be able to just quickly scan and see the bots. They were the ones with default icons and generator-sounding names like "noun-girl-827". And if you weren't sure, you could click on the blog and it would be immediately obvious it was a bot because there's either just bad porn click bait, or nothing there.
Well. This time I had to give up immediately because I got like ten followers down the list and was having immense trouble figuring out who's a bot and who's real. Never ever used to see this but like 5/10 of the first few followers I checked on had just totally empty blogs. It wasn't until I'd already blocked 2 - assuming bots bc empty blogs - that I thought to check if they had any likes. And bam! There it was. All of their user activity.
We have people on this website now who have never reblogged a single post.
Y'all, I'm sure you're sick of seeing "you have to reblog thing" but you literally have to reblog things. That is how this website works. You understand that, right? How do you think the post you hit "like" on got in front of you? It wasn't because you liked enough things and Tumblrs algorithm figured out what you like enough to hand it to you. It's because you followed someone, a human person, who reblogged that post. And it came from another person who also reblogged it.
You are killing this website by refusing to interact with it in the way that makes it better than the other websites you ran from to come here.
Anyway, I'm sure you're all nice people, but I'm not going to play the "bot or not" game if you have an empty blog I'm going to block you.

if i was harry from the british royal family i would just tweet "the queen died? thats too bad mines still alive though xoxo" with a picture of meghan markle and then turn my phone off
The Skywalker Family
About AOTC!Anakin's "stalking":
I really wanted to understand why so many people call Anakin a 'stalker' in AOTC. I had already read about the meaning of the word and, as far as I remembered, it didn't seem to fit with Anakin. Then, I found another post some hours ago here on Tumblr, affirming this statement again. I finally decided to research about the term to be sure the definition in my head wasn't outdated.
Well, in short: a stalker is a person who practices the obsessive act of spying on or chasing someone, which can reach the unhealthy point of threatening the physical and emotional well being of the victim.
Once again, unless I'm missing some important information, Anakin didn't act like that in ANY moment of the movie. He's assigned as Padme's bodyguard, so it's not like he could simply distance himself and stay away from her since he recieved stricted orders from his superiors to keep her safe.
Now, about his behavior and personality:
Anakin was awkward? Yes, sometimes to the point of sounding extremely embarrassing.
Did Anakin have difficulty to socialize? Yes, but he wasn't always like that. Everyone who watches the Prequels can clearly notice the contrasting (and even kind of scary) difference in the way TPM!Anakin and AOTC!Anakin interect with other people.
Anakin was creepy? Not really, at least not intentionally.
I think the reasons behind those traits are his inexperience with romantic love (he was 19 year-old guy raised as a SLAVE for the first half of his life and then raised by SPACE MONKS for the second half until that point!) and his deep desire to show his feelings and form a connection with another person, but the difficulty in expressing himself in a healthier manner. All of this is related to his upbringing in the Jedi Temple, where he never learned to have a good relationship with his emotions and understand their true meaning. These are factors people should take more in consideration when analyzing Anakin's character.
It's also important to remember that, even saying weird things that could let Padme or someone else uncomfortable, and sometimes failing in behave the way the rest of society expected him to, he admired and respected Padme as a person and when she made her bounderies clear, Anakin would always respect her wishes and back it off, never mistreating her or feeling resentment towards her just because he was feeling frustrated. There was no moment in AOTC where Anakin made something to Padme against her will.
You can argue with me about how unhealthy and problematic their relationship was, list all Anakin's red flags or whatever you want (I might even agree with some of your points). But the 'Anakin stalking Padme' argument is one I have a hard time trying to understand.
(As if this wasn't bad enough, there are people calling Anakin a INCEL as well. Like WHAT?! WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE!)
Something that pisses me off
It's both really funny and annoying when some SW fans claim things like THIS 👇
"Oh, If George Lucas understood anything about women, he would make Padme to fall in love with Obi Wan and make them the couple of the prequels..."
My Dear...
I AM A WOMAN.
And I LOVE ANAKIN (I like Obi Wan too, but Anakin will always be my fave).
And I FUCKING LOVE ANAKIN AND PADME TOGETHER.
You are entitled to have your own opinion about the ship and dislike anything you want about them.
BUT DON'T SPEAK FOR ALL WOMEN.
BEING A WOMAN WHO SHIPS ANIDALA DOESN'T MAKE ME LESS OF A WOMAN. IT ALSO DOESN'T MEAN I UNDERSTAND OR KNOW MYSELF LESS AS A WOMAN, OKAY?
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk 👍
I’m a woman.
And Anakin is my fave.
And Anidala is my Star Wars OTP.
The audacity of some people…
Stg shipping wars in some of the fandoms are so wild it’s a good day to thank George Lucas for making Anakin Padmesexual and Padme Anakinsexual so the battle is already won 😊
you know the “luke and leia time travel to clone wars era and meet their parents” Trope? how come there isn’t a “bickering married couple anakin and padme accidentally travel to the future, join the rebellion alongside their adult kids and completely destroy the empire in 3 working days” ?
the juxtaposition between anakin being from a barren, hot, rough desert planet and padmé being from space paradise with huge amounts of water and thriving plants, and then she comes to tatooine and meets him and he can’t forget her, it’s like when you lived all your life without water you finally see the ocean for the first time and you’re unwilling to let it go
i had the earth-shattering (for me) realization the other day that if padme had agreed to go Fuck It, We're Evil Now when anakin offered the galaxy on mustafar, and they fucked off to kill palpatine, there's no way anakin would've retained the name "darth vader." you'd have a seven foot tall mean little salt and pepper shaker in his shambling iron armor and you'd have to call him lord amidala. lord fucking amidala. i know this is true, i am 100% positive i have correctly interpreted these characters in saying that this would happen, but could you fucking imagine calling darth vader "lord amidala"? christ. that's insanity
you might as well call him mr. wifeguy. could you imagine obi-wan slumming it on tatooine when he hears whispers of the terrible dark deeds of lord amidala and despite the fact that he's hearing about how his sonbrotherguyitscomplicatedbestie does a ton of murder now, his first instinct is to roll his eyes literally to the sun and back. ahsoka's response to hearing the phrase "lord amidala" would honestly just be "that absolute motherfucker"
and now for the public forum!
@wingletblackbird you'd really have to reshuffle the timeline, i think. to be honest i insisted he was in the armor for the mental image of calling that guy, in specific, seven feet tall and wheezy, Lord Amidala. i think that's funny as fuck. it also has a vague air of pure insanity that i like. i hadn't planned out how this would occur.
i think the key would actually be that padme doesn't go to mustafar, but obi-wan does. maybe she goes into labor early, maybe palpatine has a last minute idea that if he captures her she'll be useful leverage, maybe he wants to steal As Of Yet Unnamed Baby Skywalkers, but for whatever reason, going to mustafar is thwarted. obi-wan does, and anakin still eats shit in that duel because he's still a cocky idiot regardless of padme's presence, palpatine still goes to pick up his charred sad nub of a man and entomb him in the Iron Lung For Warfare. and then after that there's an opportunity for vader to make his elevator pitch of a glorious reign of terror, and equal opportunity for padme to go, you know what, my sweet metal husband, i happen to feel very evil today. crown me empress, true aluminum love.
i think it's plausible that anakin still loses that duel even if padme isn't there, for a few reasons, mostly being "the narrative requires it" and "obi-wan is too fed up with this new round of bullshit to let anakin get away without something to remember him by" and "anakin is always going to be some level of idiot, regardless of any circumstances."
@celestialily we could get really jiggy with this, if we wanted. i mean we could get deep in the paint. he's batshit, we can make anything happen.
i think he's an epithets man, though, for sure. i think it's never "the" empress but always My Empress, even when he's only talking about her, not to her. and it's never just "her majesty", there's always something sandwiched in there, like Her Divine Majesty, Her Heavenly Majesty, Her Radiant Majesty, all that pomp and circumstance, you know the drill. i think the idea that he talks about her like that even to other people is just so absolutely good. i think i could make darth vader refer to his evil wife as My Angelic Lady and make it work.
so even the normal titles, so to speak, i think have this special deranged flair to them. i don't know if he has a specific one as much as he has like, a hundred and forty-seven different ones he uses altogether. if you've ever read good omens, the book, there's a running gag that whenever satan comes up, the narration has to list all seventeen of his official titles after, and i think vader's like that about his dark empress TM. introducing her like I BRING TO YOU OUR EMPRESS WHO YOU WILL KNEEL BEFORE AND WEEP WITH JOY FOR HER GLORY GRACES YOU.... HER SUBLIME MAJESTY, MY LADY OF DARKNESS, OUR WRATHFUL IMPERATRIX, HER ENEMIES WHIMPER BEFORE HER POWER and someone is desperately gesturing to try and cut vader's speech off because they don't have all day for this propaganda broadcast
a) amidala is the royal surname not her maiden name, and b) utterly bizarre take to have about a character that's infamous for taking a new name given to him by the emperor while literally groveling. i mean i do think based on available information anakin happens to be rather about taking new names from political leaders
