oh god but how i miss being twelve years old and latching onto this show like a lifeline, warm drinks and crunching leaves outside as i mouthed along with a green-eyed man saying “he hasn’t been home in a few days”; i miss really believing in that man and his angel because it made so much sense to me—how could they not be the endgame? how could anyone watch those two together and see that they weren’t madly, achingly in love?

i miss being so jealous of anyone who got to meet any of them at a con—no matter the time difference i would be on tumblr for hours afterwards, just scrolling through the endless pictures and gifs and quotes. it used to matter to me so much. when did i stop caring? when did this show become background music, when did i put away the embarrassing amounts of merchandise for the last time?

when did i ever start thinking it was embarrassing, to love something so, so much?

you can call me naive and childish if you want; maybe i am. because this show, these people—there comes with it a long, twisted history that we in this hellhole know all too well, and i recognize how cruelly some once-fans were treated. for these things there can be no excuse. and yet a part of me still holds tight to two brothers and an angel in a bunker. for better or worse, what you loved never really leaves you.

(in my memories, supernatural will always be a crisp, cool fall afternoon; a demon collapsing in the dead of night; two brothers driving into the shadows, bob marley playing on the radio.)
