Character Applying for: Rachel Berry
Ships: Faberry (OTP), though I wouldn’t be open to others if that didn’t work out.
Ten years old- Quinn couldn’t believe it. And here she was, celebrating in her backyard with all of her friends.
Well…Except one. Rachel Berry was never meant to be there, with all of the popular girls. She’d only been invited because Judy, Quinn’s mother, didn’t believe anyone in Mrs. Oak’s third grade class should be excluded from such a happy event. And so, while the pretty blonde ate cake with all the future cheerleaders, Rachel sat alone at a separate table.
Pretty pathetic, according to most of the little girls. They all snickered behind Rachel’s back about how no one liked her. Some said she had cooties. Santana Lopez even went as far as pushing the girl out of line when came time for the pinata.
Eventually, Brittany and Santana drifted off into their own little world, discussing something about dolphins and sharks while Quinn sat toying with her ice cream. There was no sense in having no one to talk to at her own birthday party, and so the little girl got up and took a seat next to Rachel.
“Oh- hello, Quinn.” It was evident by her tone that the brunette was shocked. Why would such a popular girl be talking to her of all people? Surprisingly, Quinn wasn’t there to trick her, or shove sand in her mouth like Noah had done at recess once. Instead the two sat in slightly awkward silence, watching the children play in the yard.
“I got you a present,” Rachel suddenly smiled, reaching next to her. Before Quinn knew it, there was a bright pink sippy cup in her hand- professionally bedazzled. She didn’t burst out laughing because her mother had always reminded her of manners. But seriously? A sippy cup? Its not like Quinn was nine anymore- she was decade old.
In fact, the blonde almost made a sarcastic comment before she realized how happy Rachel looked. Happy that someone was actually talking to her. And her eyes…They were probably the biggest, prettiest eyes Quinn had ever seen. Because its not wrong to think girls are pretty, she added mentally to herself, if you mean it as a friend. Because that’s all she wanted. Friendship. Right?
Quinn smiled a polite thank you, setting the sippy cup on the table in front of her. Rachel wasn’t as bad as she thought. But then again, what would Santana and Brittany think if she ever began hanging out with her? What would they think, she thought frightened, if they knew I thought she was pretty?! No. It was better to keep as far away from Rachel Berry as possible.
Giving the brunette a quick hug, Quinn got up and dusted off her new white dress. “Its been fun sitting by you,” she began, “…but I don’t think we can’t do it anymore.”
“Why?” Rachel’s enormous eyes seemed to grow even larger at the blonde’s words. Even if Quinn didn’t know it, Rachel thought she was pretty as well. The prettiest girl she’d ever met. Maybe I do have cooties, she thought sadly to herself.
“Well…” Quinn suddenly felt guilty. She wanted to be Rachel’s friend, but how could she be when everyone would make fun of her? “We’ll still be friends,” she decided with a grin. “Just friends that talk in secret. You can come over next Saturday, if you want.”
Rachel seemed happy with this option, and Quinn tried to pretend she didn’t feel a flutter in her tummy when the girl’s eyes lit up again. “So I’ll see you next Saturday?”
Quinn turned away with satisfaction, heading off to go meet up with Santana and Brittany once again. So maybe she didn’t get an American Girl doll like she wanted for her tenth birthday…But she did get a new friend. One that happened to have the prettiest eyes out of all the girls at McKinley Elementary School.
Anything else: On weekdays I can only get on from about 3:30 to 7:30, though most weekends I am free. Thank you!
