A cisgender woman gets escorted out of the women’s bathroom by two policeman because she was wearing “masculine” clothing and didn’t have an ID to prove she was female and complying with the law. The policemen call her sir and refuse to let her simply go to the bathroom until she can prove she is truely female.

This backfire of transphobic legislation only shows that bathroom bills are not meant to protect anyone. They are meant to punish anyone who does not fit strictly within their deffinition of a man or a woman often leading to sexist generalizations and assumptions to judge who may or may not be “really” a woman.

The author further dives into what they have characters that are really flamboyant in their personas may be used to target the straight audience and not their gay ones. And address how some TV queer males are not always an icon to those within the gay community. week 6 wishful thinking/fan fiction

When coming to the concept of wishful think I consider that as fanfiction and ships that happen. So to begin with there is the Harry Potter universal, the ship of “Darry” which is Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy together.  But the universal of harry potter there are still instances where even children show have created an idea that character might be queer.

 Which is seems street and their characters Burt and Ernie who are roommates in the show, yet to the audiences views the relationship as more then the show intended. 

the video talks about the possible relationship of Bert and Ernie is an example in how the audience of the TV show have a sort of wishful think on their part. especially since creator has stated that they are straight, but for some audiences, they see the Bert and Ernie's relationship as a union and want them to even get married. trying to change the shows primes so that it will have them marry through petitions. Of course, the person that the CNN mentions wants to do this so that it can give future queer youth a role model.

So of cources this is an ad for miller lite beer, which in general is usually considered to be the mans drink that is what men drink. Yet with the combination of the phrase “ great to see you out” may seem harmless but it is clear what it is saying espically since it has two guys on with the beer. And so this is queering the idea of beer as just being a mans drink, that beer is no longer just straight people drink.

Then there is wrestling where there are suggestive poses that suggest a possibility of much more interaction then there is.

week 7 Queer Women

So for week 7 let's start with post 1, the performance of Lady Gaga and RuPaul. So the performance really seemed to really emphasize people should dress however they want and feel powerful for it. that “fashion” is being more about being true themselves. It is really about gender expression of not hiding who they are and feel powerful when they do.

Then post 2 of 7, the “wet for her” ad for a sex toy. The sex toy went against the traditional idea that a vibrator needs to be in the shape of a guys dick, that queer women prefer sexual toys that don’t have any real association to men. To prove that a dick doesn't need to feel good.  So the link, I included is an article that lists some of the lesbian-owned business which proves a sort of power since they can provide services to other females or queer women.

Post 3 of 7 was about queer women in her experience in changing her style for work while documenting the change with photographs. The idea from the article that as a queer women clothes didn't always make them change their sexual identity, that they aren't confined to one set style of clothes as queer women they can dress however they want.

Post 4 of 7, fuck boy repellent, which empowered the idea that queer women don’t need a man in any compacity. Straight and simple.

Post 5 of 7, the idea that an actor like ruby rose and change a women's sexuality isn't bad but what happens to genders like bisexuality. Because it's forcing an idea of being one or another, which shows how queer women are very supportive of all sexual identities, the article seems really strongly opposed to the idea by straight women they don't consider the negative impact they create with their statement so its a political one that is about gender identity.

Lastly, post 6 of 7, is a buzz feed video about the killing of queer women characters off. It's stating the idea that queer women and audiences deserve more than the traditional tv trope of killing off tv queer characters they are searching for better ways of cutting queer characters other than killing them.
