GOLDFRAPP singer Alison has ditched her dread of making videos, instead she's joining forces with her director girlfriend on promos for the the band's new minimalist album.
The source of inspiration for most of the songs on Coney Island Baby, Lou Reedâs transvestite lover and muse Rachel (Tommy) has always been somewhat of a mystery figure. In all thatâs been written about Reed, Rachel is barely a footnote. Despite playing a significant romantic role in Reedâs life and even touring with him during the mid-70s, Rachel managed to keep her private life private. Even details of her death are vague. She is rumoredâŚ

Two days before an emotional performance alongside Macklemore and Ryan Lewis at the 2013 VMAs, also featuring surprise guest Jennifer Hudson, Seattle-based singer/songwriter Mary Lambert released her own music video for the now iconic "She Keeps Me Warm." The single, blossoming from the original chorus Lambert wrote for Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' gay rights anthem "Same Love," follows the beginnings of a relationship between two queer women.
Miley Cyrus was veritably born into the industry â as the daughter of famous country singer Billy Ray, she was a household name by the time she was 15, starring as Hannah Montana in her very own Disney channel show. There, she cultivated a persona as a modern southern belle: fresh-faced, down-
The Growlers "Gay Thoughts" The Jack Coleman directed video was based around Mexican culture and the underworld of Latino transsexuals. Plus there is a spiritual crow. Very important. The video came to be after using 15 rolls of super8 film and a good solid month to shoot and edit scenes, shot in Los Angeles at what turned out to be a birthday party for one of the performers. They even allowed the filmer to film in the dressing room. Scenes were also shot in Northern Baja, Mexico.

THEESatisfaction. Makers of self described âfunk-psychedelic feminista sci-fi epicsâ with a good mix of jazz, hip-hop, warm 70s soul, and hardcore minimalist drum machine beats.
This Seattle duo has been getting a fair amount of attention recently around the blaawg-o-sphere, and it is rightfully deserved. There is a very good chance youâve already been listening to them, but if you havenât nows the time to jump on one of the best musical bandwagonâs in recent memory.
THEESatisfactionâs tracks are often short bursts of hypnotic loops are pre-programmed machine beats. They sample old jazz, and often harken back to 70s and 80s dance music with retro sounding synth. Both Stasia Iron (who raps) and Cat Harris-White have mesmerizing voices and deliveries. Harris-White calls to mind India.Arie and Erykah Badu, while Ironâs rapping style is a great break from the hyper active approach many popular acts use these days. She gives her rhymes a lot more space, and it adds another layer to their hypnotic music.
They released their label debut last year on Sub-Pop, but theyâve been making music together since 2008, and a lot of it is available on their bandcamp, so if you havenât given them a shot yet, now is definitely the time.

Azealia Banks "Harlem Shake" (Remix) From the recent conflicts between Baauer and Banks over the remix of Halerm Shake. Baauer had Banksâs remix of the song removed from Soundcloud. This morning, she responded by posting her video of the song on Vimeo. âSick and tired of these raggedy male musicians and their scarred egoâs trying to block my fucking light,â she tweeted this morning, a few hours after the video went up. âSick and tired of all the motherfuckers trying to âput me in my place.ââ Watch the video below.
