personal opinion on casey’s storyline on atypical season 2: i’ve seen people accuse casey of cheating on evan but i kind of saw it differently. it’s obvious she had an immediate connection to izzie, but the thing is, i don’t think casey really realized what it was. i think she thought it was just a really strong friendship, and so she found nothing wrong with it. the moment she started noticing other feelings, she immediately tried to cut herself off from izzie, and not just because she doesn’t want to cheat on evan, but i think it’s because she’s trying to repress her izzie-related emotions. she can’t come to terms with the fact that she’s falling for another woman. could you call it “emotional cheating”? yeah. but i think it’s more “self discovery” than anything else. so many things happening to our girl casey at once. and on top of that, she’s now beginning to understand her mom’s situation. how loud casey’s been with her disaproval of elsa’s cheating spree (which was way worse), that’s exactly how loud her internal fight with her own emotions is going to be. i think that’s what we’re seeing in that final frame of her when she’s in the car with izzie. it’s early on in their relationship. we’ll see how it all plays out in season 3.
