My Thoughts On Hell
First, let’s begin with somethings most assume to be true about God:
—He is all good
—He is omnipresent (God exists everywhere)
Now what do we know about Hell? Only one concrete thing is most universally agreed upon about Hell:
—Hell is a total separation from God
So, when I use my rational brain and compare what I know about God and what I know about Hell, I come to two main conclusions. First, an all good God would not wish to eternally punish and torture his beloved creations especially for finite transgressions. This leads me to believe that the idea of a fire and brimstone Hell is a contradictory notion to an all good God.
Second, and this was more of a game of connect the logical dots, I believe Hell to simply be just the absence of being, a ceasing to exist, neither good nor bad. Think about it; if God exists everywhere and Hell is an absence of God, the only place that God isn’t is “nowhere”. Thus my conclusion that Hell is simply an end to existence, not an eternal realm of torture.
Sorry if my line of logic is flawed or confusing, but I hope I was clear in my thoughts. I would love to hear what others have to say on the subject.
