first lines tag game
Rules: List the first line of your last 10 (posted) fics and see if there's a pattern!

hypothesis: i feel very strongly about the significance of the first line, i'm going to guess before i look at these that they will be mostly in media res, action-packed, and bordering on too long for how much i'm trying to fit in them.
data:
Pete pinkies open the door and shoves into his dorm room shoulder-first, nearly dropping the spider plant and fully dropping the music theory textbook, which smacks into the ground with such force that the sound shoots out the still-open door and echoes down the hall.
“Is this it?” Bobby says, surveying the car with doubt.
Nigel shakes himself out of an evening doze on the couch to heavy thumping at his door. A cop knock. And a low voice, grumbling something.
Will is pliant, letting Hannibal push him through the house until his back hits the wall by the bedroom door, hard enough for his lips to part around the breathy, vulnerable noise that leaves him, his eyes fluttering closed.
Eduardo doesn't look up when he hears someone come into the kitchen—just pours more tea into his mug and stares out the window into the night. It's odd and quiet here after the humid chaos of New York. The weather is astonishingly mild.
When Kevin gets back to the mission hut, dripping wet and hauling a couple bags of groceries, there’s only one person in the common area: Elder Michaels, sprawled on the couch with a book.
Divya rifles through his backpack and sits back on the couch. “Did I forget my pencil case?” he wonders out loud.
“I think I want to start dating again.”
Safe to say Divya’s not really looking where he’s going because he’s trying to zip his backpack shut while pelting down a straight road he’s been down a million times and it’s five a.m. and dead fucking silent outside. Of course, that’s when he slams directly into what feels like a lamppost. Except the lamppost goes “whoa!” and scrambles to grab him a little too late to keep him from eating absolute shit on the sidewalk.
Sean wakes up at around one in the afternoon to find the sun high in the sky, the kitchen devoid of filter coffee, and Eduardo Saverin stripped down to his boxer briefs in the backyard.
discussion: ok, safe to say with many of these i have not looked at them at ALL since i've posted them lmaooo. i truly completely forgot a lot of them. i guess my hypothesis is more like a personal goal - my favorite first lines of mine are definitely the silly action-packed ones with main characters who are abit of a mess (1 and 9), but i phoned it in with some of these. half of them involve someone entering or trying to enter a room/door, if that counts as a pattern? fun to revisit some of these anyway!!
