you don’t know jack fucking shit about the 227 event and it shows. the lack of respect that you exhibited in this reply is unbelievable. I was fucking there when this went down, I cried for days. I watched my chinese friends having mental breakdowns in private forums, a chinese friend i had met literally two weeks prior on AO3 emailed me in dismay for what had happened – this is someone who had been working up the courage to send me a message for literal months and we managed to exchange emails just before the firewall went up – you don’t understand, you can’t understand the sort of devastation that was felt. if you did, you wouldn’t have brought it up like this as a cudgel for sweeping our legitimate pain aside. blaming the victims for the acts of a violent and oppressive government is a fucking shitty look.

Regarding the Xiyao Troll on AO3

It’s been a while since last I wrote about that but since the troll was very active yesterday night again, I’ll do so again because not everyone is on Twitter…

Someone,or a group of someone (idk) is targeting Xiyao fics with comments such as

It’s always comments from anons with various names. Whatever they write - it has NOTHING to do with your fic, with your writing, with your characterization. It’s a troll comment.

Since many Xiyao writers have locked their fics to anon comments of late the troll(s) begin to dig out older fic (some as old as February) and jgy-centric fic that are not tagged as xiyao, for totally unrelated pairings given the fic is open for anon comments

jesus christ this took so long. so long. i mean, i’m super happy with the result but i think i’m not gonna draw flowers again for like the next five years.

speaking of flowers! there is a shitton of flower symbolism here which i meticulously researched (= spent an inordinate amount of time on the wikipedia page for plant symbolism). so without further ado:

stacker

ashpodel, cypress twigs, black roses, and poppies. poppies in general signify eternal sleep/oblivion, what with the opium and so on. both cypresses and black roses are for death, while cypress also means mourning/sorrow, and the black rose doubles for rejuvenation/rebirth. according to the wiki page, ashpodel means ‘my regret follows you to the grave’, which i mainly thought was hilarious in a tragic way, but as it turns out, in greek mythology they’re basically the plant that’s connected to death and the underworld.

tamsin

pansy, winged seeds (maple in this case), ox-eye daisy, and witch-hazel. pansies and ox-eye daisies stand for thoughts and patience, respectively, which is kinda as close as i could find to foresight or similar. witch-hazel means magic spells, since the clayr’s sight is a special kind of magic, and winged seeds mean messengers.

borage, white heather, gladiolus, and oak leaves. borage and oak leaves are for courage and strength, while white heather signifies protection, and gladiolus stands for ‘strength of character, honor, conviction’.
