She sighed, “Well, it’s your job to make sure I don’t die.” She muttered trying to hide the blush that had crept across her face. She slowly got up, giving her cheeks a chance to cool off. “Now that you’ve seen what I can do what are you going to teach me.”

"You're right, it is." Eddie let out a huff before he pulled himself off the ground and held his hand out of to Jill. "We'll work on your punches first. You need to pack more into those."

"Are you sneaking out on me?"

"It’s not sneaking if I get caught. But no, I’m not sneaking out. I was going to get something from my room. Okay, it was sort of sneaking out. But you were sleeping in my defense."

She laughed, “I’m okay, a movie is supposed to be enjoyed not analyzed.”

She cuddled, close eating her popcorn. “I actually like that you get to be the hero.”

 "I try to be the hero. Sometimes it doesn't work out the way I wanted to." Eddie wrapped his arms around her tighter, watching the movie, but was more focused on how comfortable she seemed.

I've been at work three and a half hours now and I already hate it. Black Friday sucks.

Jill squealed as they fell. She ‘umphed’ from underneath him trying not to be away of his body on top of hers. “EDDIE!”

Almost instantly, his cheeks heated up. This was not part of the training plan, but he'd roll with it. "Minus the accident on my part, if you were in this situation during an attack, you'd be dead." Rolling off of her, he let himself lay on the ground next to her, trying to stop his stupid heart from beating so loud she could hear. It was seriously failing.

Wrapping his arms around her middle, he let his chin rest against her shoulder and shrugged. "I mean, if that's what you want to watch. Personally, I hope you're not taking notes. I do the bad guy slaying."

Jill rarely felt like she needed someone, but right now it was extremely important. She couldn’t go to Adrian with this though. It was too sensitive and the last thing she wanted was to drown her bondmate in darkness.

She knocked on Eddie’s door, holding on to her ribs. She winced, biting her lip. She wiped her tears waiting for him to answer.

She nodded in understanding. She wasn’t about to tell Eddie that he had been her first choice. She blushed brightly as he called her “his princess”. She hadn’t meant to, but she couldn’t help it. She cuddled him close. “Thanks.”

Moving her hair from her face, Eddie could see the bruise that seemed to be darkening the more time wore on. It gave him a new found oath to protect her no matter what. But Eddie knew she would understand that. He didn't have to say anything. "Anytime, Jill." He whispered, still soothing her hair.

"Horror movie. You know those look incredibly fake," he still was grinning. These were going to be more interesting than a girly one. He crawled back into the bed, leaning against the headboard.

She didn’t respond to his “reminder” as she stumbled back, trying to dodge the punch that came her way, barely getting away. She swung her left fist this time.

His eyes were trained on her moves as he got himself ready for a punch. Eddie noticed the movement on her left side and caught her hand again in his hand. He swiped his leg under hers and tried to knock her balance. The problem was he also lost hers. All he was trying to do was make sure she didn't actually fall and get hurt, and that distracted him. Next thing he knew was going down, taking her with him in.

Jill sighed, “You didn’t fail, Eddie. I was just too embarrassed to say anything. It’s one thing to be abused and be a mousy girl. It’s another thing to be a princess with fangs and magic and still not be able to defend yourself. Either way no one deserves to be hurt, but still. It really hurt my pride and I couldn’t tell you.”

"And I get that your pride was hurt, but Jill... this is what I'm here for. Even if you were wounded by the attack, mentally or physically, you can come to me. Obviously I'm not your first choice, but I'm only here for you. There's nothing you can't come to me about." It was the truth. He was around for her, no matter what.

"But I'm still putting that kid in the hospital." Just a small smile tacked on the end of that. "No one touches my princess and gets away with it."
