Day 4 - #3 âOkay, show me.â

Summary: Rose needs to tell the Doctor something really important. Except she's too nervous to say it out loud, so showing him will have to suffice.
Rose is pacing around the TARDISâ console, observing the light maintenance work the Doctor is doing, but not saying anything. Every now and then he glances at her, gives her a soft smile and she reciprocates a few seconds later , too distracted to have noticed him right away.
He fiddles with some tools and glances at her again, just observing this time. Being quiet and distant is so unlike her. There must be something wrong.
âRose-â he starts, but is cut when she choose the exact same moment to speak up.
âI need to tell you something,â she says, reaching his eyes but then immediately adverting her gaze, âOr, maybe⊠maybe I could just show you.â
She is biting on her nails, he notices. Instinctively, he drops the tools and walks up to her, holding her hands on his own. The sudden touch brings her eyes back to his. He tries to decipher what is going on behind them , but all he can see is worry and fear that could actually be his own.
âOkay,â he says, caressing her hands, âOkay, show me,â his voice is so soft itâs nearly a whisper.
She lets go of his touch and reaches her back pocket, taking something out of it. T he Doctor canât quite figure out what it is at first, until she brings it to the light and places it on his hands.
His eyes flutter between her and the object a few times. He brings it closer, inspecting it further. It might be his first time holding such an earthly object, but he knows very well what it is. And what it means.
âWeâre having a baby?â he can barely contain the excitement on his voice.
Rose looks at him, and finds big brown puppy eyes looking back at her. She canât help but giggle, âHmm⊠yes. As long as youâre on board.â
His expression changes immediately when she says that . He carefully puts the pregnancy test on the console and gets closer to her. Both hands hold her face gently, pulling it slightly upwards to meet his eyes .
âNow, Rose Tyler, why wouldnât I be?â
âI- I donât know⊠with all the traveling, and timeâŠ. and space, I⊠I thought-â
âHey, now. Shush, okay? We⊠weâll figure out, okay? We always do! But, right now, can we please celebrate? Please?â
She smiles, more confident now, âYes, letâs celebrate.â
He grins widely and, without a warning, grabs her by waist and lifts her off the ground, spinning her in the air, âWeâre having a baby!â he announces for every room in the TARDIS to hear. She laughs loudly, infected by his enthusiasm.
When he puts her back on the ground, he gives her a kiss on the forehead.
âYes, we are,â she says, quietly, only for the two of them to hear.
i think what makes me love timepetals sm is that they're so clearly in love with each other. their love is always on display; it's tangible and undeniable. every action they take is taken hand in hand and they are each other's suns and they helplessly revolve around the other. they're lost in their own little world as they fall deeper and deeper in love. we are witnessing a love story with all its twists and turns. they are always at the precipice, ready to fall together, but they never jump off the ledge. for as much love as they feel for each other, there is twice as much they hold back for fear of changing something that is already good. it could get better, yes, but it could also get worse and so they stay quiet until rose decides that he deserves to know, that if this is going to be their goodbye, she's going to tell him what has always been so obviously there. and the doctor knows, has always known but the words can't leave him and they never do. at least not until he becomes something even more made for her and suddenly there is nothing holding him back because now there is no bleak future without rose tyler looming over him because his entire future belongs to and with her now. he is who he is because of her and that will always stay the same because they can share a forever together.
When you go back to the stars and tell others of this planet, when you tell them of its riches, its people, its potential, when you talk of the Earth, then make sure that you tell them this. It is defended.

i donât think russell t davies understands how he permanently changed the trajectory of my entire existence when he brought rose tyler back on s4, and then beat all the odds to give the doctor and rose the happy ending that they both deserved
