reblog if it's okay for your mutuals to message you and create an actual friendship, not just interactions
I feel so helpless
It hit me when I went to a student conference last week. I sat in as the girl in front of about 15 people spoke about the Hunger Games. She analysed the themes of control and grief. Talked about Deleuze and Panopticon, and her points were spot on.
And then I remembered the tiktok of a girl, laying in her bed, calling herself the citizen of District 12. And something in me just snapped. I suddenly saw how small the room was. I heard the arguments I've heard before. And the only thought in my head was “Why do we bother?”
Why do we pretend this changes anything? What's the point of analysing media? We sit in our rooms, talk about deeper meanings of our favourite pieces of culture, and it ends there.
It's mostly just bitterness. I know media analysis changed how I look at the world so it must've changed other people too. But I feel like we live in a time when most people don't find it necessary. They don't care.
And honestly, why would they? Most people have to worry about putting food on the table on a day-to-day basis. Our minds are flooded by a never-ending string of tragedies. Why would anyone care about an analysis of a stupid TV show from the 2000s or a silly video game? I want to blame them, but I can't.
And all the same, I feel hollow. Cause media analysis is my favourite thing to do in the world. Cause I genuinely believe that thinking about what other people created matters, and it makes our experiences better. But sometimes it feels like talking to an empty conference room.
If someone formatted classical literature into fanfiction style and put it on ao3 I'd read every book ever written

Reblog if you don't use Generative AI to write fanfics/original fics or to create fanart/original art.
do you want to play tomodachi life but don't have a switch, $60, or just don't want to pay nintendo $60?
here's an all-in-one site where you can download everything you need to emulate it!
Floralith beta — downloads and setup.
also, with an emulator, you can directly screenshot and record your game, and even mod it! add custom hair parts! import photos directly! remove region locks! emulate it!!
everything?
everything! this site will walk you through downloading the ryujinx switch emulator, the firmware and keys needed, and the nsp game file for tomodachi life ltd.
is this safe?
the files are all directly downloaded from this site, so there's no third party to worry about. i didn't make this site - it was created by PotentialAd943 on reddit, who claims they scanned their files clean before hosting. just to be sure, i scanned my pc after downloading too. it all came up clean! but it's good to be aware of pc safety, especially when pirating. it can't hurt to do a scan of your own to be sure!
how much pc knowledge do i need for this?
you should know how to download files, how to make and manage folders in file explorer, and how to navigate a program's settings menu.
any settings i should change in ryujinx?
here's some i recommend checking before starting the game:

I think I was a better person when I hated myself more
One time I had to buy a pregnancy test to make sure I'd qualify for a brith control implant. I'm 21 but I am often told I look younger and my friends DEFINITELY look 17 y/o
I've decided to do this at a local mall but before I went into the store I rubbed my eyes. The problem was earlier that day I was petting my friend's cat and forgot about it. I have a cat allergy
So I'm standing in queue - looking underage, holding a pregnancy test with tears STREAMING down my face
I hope all the people in the store that day had lots of fun retelling that situation to their friends

What an icon and what an amazing person
I’m not Christian, I don’t go to church anymore, and my pastor died, but when he was alive I’d sometimes go to his sermons and I remember one time he said “it feels good to hate, but we know that it isn’t allowed, so when we’re told that we’re allowed to hate someone we get so excited that we forget we’re supposed to love”, and if my humble atheist ass might borrow some church talk I’d like to perhaps submit that
Anyhow sometimes on the day to day I feel disgust or revulsion and I have to ask myself “is this a danger to anyone at all or am I just looking for something I’m allowed to hate” and a solid 98/100 times it’s the latter so once again thank you pastor D
