A tough cookie, Vivian is sharp-tongued and sarcastic, which can often get her in trouble. Her family is said to have descended from the goddess Nyx herself, but she will neither confirm nor deny this. Her father and brother are powerful politicians on the Island of Woe, so she spent most of her childhood playing the role of the picture perfect child. Because of this, she enjoys going to school away from home because she can be her true self and not have to put on proper airs. Vivian is very beautiful. She stands at about 5’9” and has long, wavy purple hair that she wears mostly tied back. Growing up, she took dance lessons and continues her dancing while at school.

Typhon is her cousin (@a-wild-inky-boi​‘s OC). She is good friends with Ruby, and is very protective of Linette (@gabbaray‘s OCs).

She once bullied Idia at school when they were kids, but does not recall the incident. Idia still hates her for it.

Veronica is quiet, but not shy. She is very cerebral, but also calculating when she knows she can get away with it. Her vocal talents have always been praised, and this is a badge she wears with great pride. She is also a stellar performer; she understands how to capture the audience’s attention without having to do too much. When potential competition comes into the picture she becomes very jealous. She is wickedly beautiful. She is fair-skinned with medium-length black hair that she styles in curls. Because she comes off as stand-offish, she doesn’t have many friends and other students are often intimidated by her. This leads her to seek out male attention to give her the praise she desires.

As a first year, she befriends her upperclassman, Rila, who ends up being her rival in love for Anders. Anders falls for Rila over Veronica, leaving her scorned and bitter. She cuts ties with Rila in the process.

I don’t know Age: 18 Occupation: Student at Night Raven College Dorm: Heartslabyul Hobbies: Gardening (straight-up farming, actually) Family: Grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, older brother, older sister, younger sister Home: Shaftlands Quote: “It ain’t much, but it’s honest work.” Signature Spell: Gardener’s Revenge - any plant he uses this spell on will produce a powerful poison (honestly, I want to change this but this is something for now) Partner: Vil

He’s very timid and humble, even self-depreciating at times. He is tall, (close to if not over 190 cm), has copper curly hair, and is very physically fit from helping out on his family’s farm. He is Jewish. He calls Vil, “shaynkeit” the Yiddush word for beauty (which is also close to Vil’s last name), as that is what his grandparents call his sisters. He admires and envies Jack for being able to talk to Vil so easily. Gavin and Jack are good friends, since they grew up together and now garden together at school.

He is also good friends with Linette (@gabbaray‘s OC), who bond over Gavin sharing stories about Jack from childhood.

Glinda is quite stern but can be sarcastic at times. She seems aloof/unconcerned while at her job, but she always knows what to do and how to remain calm to ease any anxious students needing her aid. She never misses a beat, and working with rowdy students helps keep her on her toes.

She has a poodle, who is like her child, that she spoils greatly. His name is Gawain.

Appearance-wise, she has purple-toned gray hair that she keeps in an asymmetrical bob. She is incredibly fashionable and places great pride in her appearance. You will rarely ever find her without a full face of makeup. However, at work, she dresses down greatly, as she is on her feet quite often and also doesn’t want to flaunt herself in front of a bunch of teenage boys.

Reader Appreciation

I’ve been seeing a lot of amazing posts lately thanking fanfic writers for that good, good content that we’re all disappearing into right now. And I love these posts, and FUCK YES, the healing power of art during these rough times, it can’t be said enough. But I feel like there’s something missing from these posts, and that’s the readers.

A lovely friend of mine recently shared something with the caveat that they “contribute basically nothing to fandom” and I was fucking floored. Like. This person has made playlists for fic, and shared art, and reached out to me to talk about my stories and other stories and like - that is the Work. They made me feel like my shitty writing was good enough to share, and that made me write more, and connected me with more people, and that sort of contribution doesn’t get acknowledged enough. I don’t write fiction because I have to, or for the likes or hits or whatever; I write it because I have a story I want to tell. On the days when my brain is cooperating, writing is a pleasure. On the days when my brain isn’t cooperating, comments from readers make my words feel meaningful anyway. This isn’t a one-way street, a producer/consumer situation. Or at least, it doesn’t feel like that to me.  And my best writing has been done when people are holding me accountable, or are pushing me to do better and I’m so grateful for that. And so grateful for you.

So. To the readers who comment on every chapter. To the readers who leave thoughtful essays in the comments and the readers who leave 😭❤️😱 or keysmashes. To the readers who are inspired for the first time to make art or write something themselves. To the readers who leave kudos. To the readers too anxious to comment (I’ve been there, sat in a space where I had no idea how to express how a story made me feel) and the fandom ghosts who dip in and read and vanish.

To readers who like or reblog or share or rec or send messages or don’t do any of these things.
