The Rate n' Sort (RnS): Basics

each of the 5000 songs in my Main Playlist are going to be sorted into several different, smaller playlists. These are mostly vibe based categories developed by my own tastes and ear for music. The ones that matter most are;

Bounce: anything boppy, really, goes here

Twang: country and country adjacent sounds

Noise: cacophony of bullshit type tracks

Rock: if it rolls it's here

Hiphop: rythmic and fast talking pieces

Jazz: loungy, melodic type stuff

In addition, some tracks might be labeled under "Turnips" which is just a playlists of all my all timers.

I will also be rating each song on a 1-10 scale, baseing the score general composition, uniqueness, substance, and passion.

These will be pumped out in batches, likely sporadically, until I'm through all 5000 songs in alphabetical order.

Oshi No Ko is not nearly as good as I thought it would be based on fan reception.

It's paced too quick, it's writing is stiff, and for a show about acting, it's acting is also stiff.

It tries too hard to get by on edge factor but isn't written interestingly enough for that edge to keep your attention. Especially when the episodes refuse to let you sit with what's happening at all. It's just Next Scene Next Scene Next Scene Next Scene, there's no time for anything to sit and breath.

Visually it's alright, the thing with the eyes is interesting, but that's about the only thing that stands out.

I say this here because, well, I don't exactly have anywhere else to say it...

I want to die. I'm just... sick of it all. The dysphoria, the fear and anxiety, the loneliness, the rejection, the monotony and stagnation, the people, the world, the pain I still feel from all the terrible things that happened to me as a kid. The abuse from my parents, the grooming, the bullying, the moving, the ripping me away from everything I knew mulitple times over, having to start again and again again. The broken promises, the backwards rules, the yelling and the blaming and unfairness of it all.

I just... it's just filled me with so much hate and sadness. I can't stand it. I just want it to end. But I'm too much a fucking coward to end it myself.

Sometimes I wish I was american. I'd have been killed already... or at least I'd live in a country where kids can get guns...

This has been my first time really trying to date after transitioning.

Guys keep unmatching me not even because I'm trans but because I can't get pregnant, and this one guy I was talking to for 4 days just unmatched out of nowhere and it's hitting harder than it maybe should. It's just... we were chatting so nicely. I thought everything was going okay...

RnS 1/5000: The '59 Sound - The Gaslight Anthem

immediately I know this track gets sorted into Rock.

Sonically the song is a tad basic, utilizing a fairly standard 90's gospel adjacent rock rythm, but it's bombastic enough to make it stand out on it own. I really like buzzy sound that goes on through various portions, it feels like it ties the vibes together.

The singers voice is quite pleasing, too. A silky, creamy mans voice, full of a clear passion and talent for the craft. The lyrics themselves are quite nostalgic, not really saying too much outside of "memories and how we think back on them. reminiscing of younger, brighter, less stressful days." Nothing profound, but nothing wholly basic either. It's got genuine feeling, a real care to the words that you can hear that pull it up from being a more standard Rock track.

All in all, I give this song;

Credit card companies will TRY to saddle you with this kind of debt by the way - if ever a loved one dies and you are not co-signed on their credit card, do NOT agree to pay their debt unless you ask a lawyer first if you truly have to.

They will say “don’t you want them to go to the grave without debt”, they will try to guilt you, they will take advantage of your vulnerability.

Source: when my father died, he had some credit cards that my mom wasn’t on that she had no access to. The companies contacted her while she was sorting through the bills and getting a handle on how to run the house alone, badgering her with his credit card debt.

She wasn’t liable for any of it, but if she had ever agreed to pay before finding out that she didn’t need to, she would have been considered to have taken on his debt and would have HAD to pay it. It’s slimy, it’s predatory, and it’s entirely legal for them to do this.

Never accept the credit card company’s word about your obligation to pay anyone else’s debt, if you don’t have access to the card, ask a lawyer before agreeing to anything.

when people defend the “Cis white guy is default” thing like “He’s meant to be an everyman we can all relate to and project on!” kindly remind them the largest ethnic group in the WORLD is Han Chinese and the highest gender percentage fluctuates so if you want an ACTUAL  “default” you want a 40 year old chinese person whose gender changes from year to year.
