I think people are very mislead about happiness. It seems like we are made to believe that one day it will just come and life will be good, but in reality it is a decision that we have to make for ourselves. We can either sit in our sadness and mope, dreaming of that “one day” when it will all just miraculously be okay (which does not happen). Or we can wake up every morning and despite the negatives that seem to consume our minds we can choose to look at the positives. It is okay to feel sad and be upset, but we have to learn how to ride out those feelings and know that it will get better. No good or bad feeling lasts forever, and it is so easy to forget that in moments of extreme highs and lows. We need to stop waiting for “one day” and choose to make that day today and everyday. Be grateful, be compassionate, be accepting, be curious, be kind, and remember no feeling is a bad feeling.
Happiness begins with you. Not with your relationship, your friends, or your job. But with you.
