I decided to draw Minhaj in the red dress he supposedly wears for the drama club. I drifted away from the outfit Jasmine wears cause one, that's not a dress, and two, it makes me uncomfortable. Thus I took inspo from the attached image of Scheherazade(princess in 1000 and 1 nights) illustration instead :)

Spit balling angst ideas for Che'nya because he is in so little of the game that I can just make shiiiiiii up.

What if Che'nya is incredibly flaky with his modern friends? He doesn't respond to texts, he really makes good on promises, and he will back out of plans on the last minute. One could blame this on his spontaneity, I doubt many people at RSA would fully trust the rhythm and riddle speaking cat beastmen to be reliable, but what if it stemmed from something deeper? What if Che'nya's modern attitude is a cover up for a fear of lost sparked from long ago?

The loss of Riddle was never something that Che'nya could directly be blamed for. He wasn't the one to give Riddle the tart nor was he the one who even suggested going to get one, that was all Trey. Therefore, Che'nya cannot feel the same guilt that Trey does for ripping Riddle away from his opportunity to escape his mother and have a normal childhood (Trey made enabler by guilt. Plus Trey also has to deal with the shame his Parents had after getting chewed out by a renowned doctor. This is about Che'nya tho, not Trey).

Che'nya could blame himself for playing with Riddle in the first place, as he was the one to invite Riddle out in the first place. Maybe this led to a tendency to not want to invite people to things, but idk that just seems weak to me. Someone else could likely do something more with that, but it's not me.

I am more interested in the effect very suddenly losing a friend had on Che'nya. Che'nya went from see and playing with Riddle everyday for x amount of time, to Riddle not even opening the curtains. That has to some damage. Maybe he is scared people will just disappear like Riddle did (imagine if UM came from a fear of people disappear on him so he just literally disappears on them). Perhaps a playful and fickle attitude is his way of not losing someone again.

He was very dependable about meeting and playing with Riddle, and look how that turned out for him. Perhaps being undependable is better if it means people can't be ripped away from him. If they can barely make sense of Che'nya's words, then they can only be so close.

Does literally anyone explore narratively that the traveler is like older than teyvat? Is that ever brought up? Cause it seems funny if like the gods of this world are like younger than these random people who are getting told they can't drink.

Like an "Oh, your 500? That's cute. I'm older than your entire country, lol"

Also free angst for shipping. Bonus for if the adeptus(I think that's right?) Thinks the traveler is going to die before them and gets uno reversed into facing the fact that they have seen stars die and will eventually watch the heat death of their planet and the adepetus.

Maybe this is touched on, idk not in the fandom, but my brain ping-ponged that concept around so :p

Azul's dream in book 7 is a pretty perfect example of how shallow and fundamentally flawed Malleus' idea of a "perfect world" for everyone is. And I also just think it's interesting.

I don't think it's necessarily trying to convey that Azul experiencing bullying was "necessary" for him to become better. Because the inherent flaw with this dream is that it doesn't make Azul's peers not bullies; it just makes him someone they wouldn't bully.

He's athletic, captain of the school's sports teams, popular, and something that stood out to me is that during his first appearance in the dream, he's described as being so fast that the commentators couldn't even make him out at first. All of which are things that are NOT true in real life, and are in fact reasons he was bullied.

Azul was overweight as a child, lonely, unpopular and not naturally gifted at anything. And he's described multiple times as being a very slow swimmer, something he was also bullied for.

Malleus' dream solves this by removing these traits. Which, yes, does result in a reality in which Azul never faced any bullying. But it doesn't address the root issue, which was that Azul grew up in an environment in which bullying other children was tolerated in the first place. Even if he doesn't personally experience it, that still affects him, and it shapes him into the bully we see him as in his dream.
