I had a very specific vision for a snake coiled around a purple nautilus, the kind you find in octavinelle's dorm uniform. It's hard to see the color detailing of the snake and shell on camera, but the scaly texture came out fairly well imo.

Holy shit. Thanks again for waiting uhhh *checks calendar* more than a whole fucking year for this update! Sorry for tmi but I'm gonna complain about my problems and NSFW for the rest of the paragraph, feel free to skip it. It's been a hell of a time trying to make myself write, and of all things, stress had to cause me a huge uptick in sex repulsion while tryna finish a sex-centric chapter. I swear I spent like four months just trying to finish a blowjob scene only to end up not wanting to write anything at all for days after every attempt, until I finally had to scrap the blowjob entirely just to break the pattern and get this out there @_@. Lesson learned about my limits I guess but holy shit was that frustrating.

Anyway

-I know the mermen are used to sleeping on rocks, but my defense for the overly soft mattress is 1) closest he can get to a feeling of weightlessness, and 2) curious about human luxury

-Bathroom skylight is designed like a giant deck prism because I think they're cool as hell. Also because underwater, a skylight could be viewed from outside just as easily as any other window, so it would need to be obscured somehow and this was the most interesting way to me

-tbh I dunno what I was doing with the shower handles? knobs? (confession I have no idea what those are called. I swear I've heard and used the term for them in conversation before, but I can't remember it for the life of me now), I just figured mermaid shower needs would be pretty different from humans, so a dorm meant to accommodate either one would have an obnoxiously complicated shower. And naturally, I needed that to become Jamil's problem

-Also, what's a sex scene without a complicated unacknowledged sexual trauma response after? Even when Jamil finally gets to have nice things, he doesn't get to have nice things

-Finally did Azul's POV! I've been nervous about trying, but I think I'm happy with how it turned out. I wanna depict him as both creepy/possesive and more sensitive than he comes off. Something I love about his character is how hard it is to tell if any of the decency is sincere or how much of the greed is misleading, and I like to believe that there's actually a whole lot of both
