"Whatever the reason it’s still wrong." Jirou turned back before walking up to one of the workers. "What’s the problem with this young lady wanting to defend herself?" Jirou despite always being somewhat shy would tell others his opinions when he believed they were wrong. "She deserves that not this place turning her down. I thought this was a safe place to learn and grow as people." He spoke calmly.

"The owner believes that she would distract the other members of the gym." The woman behind the counter answers. "Believe me, I'm sickened by it as well." She reached under the counter and hands Tomoko a brochure for another gym, named Gold Standard. "This is a bit of a trek to get to, but that gym is really all inclusive. Nobody is turned away, and the owner treats everyone there like family."

Tomoko takes the brochure in hand. "Thank you. I'll definitely look into this."

Tomoko has been turned aside from the boxing ring again. As she walks out of the gym, her head hung low, she bumps into someone wearing a familiar beige outfit.

Her eyes track up his body. “Oh, hello. You caught me at a bad time. Nozama Tomoko. How can I help you?”

"Nozama-san? I have heard a lot of you. Though I didn’t expect to see you here. I’m Iseki Jirou. Ryusei’s friend. He um…" Jirou began before the uneasiness of the situation hit him. "You all saved my life. Thank you."

"Oh?" She looks confused at the name for moment. "Ryusei’s friend? Well then, welcome to this city. I hope you have a fulfilling life from this point forward." She bows. "And if you ever need help with anything, don’t be afraid to ask."

"I couldn’t ask you all for anything more. Though it seems you are having troubles here. Maybe I can help you out. I come here to train a little while not practicing the Seishin Dairinken. It’s good to be versatile." Jirou smiled. "That is, if you would like."

"I just want to learn to box, but they keep turning me down." She puts a lock of hair behind her ear and sighs. "I don’t even understand why they do it."

"That’s no good. I don’t know why they would keep you out. Come on. We’ll try again." Jirou walked past to see why the people at the gym turned Tomoko away. "Everyone has the right to better themselves in any way they want. Well if it doesn’t hurt others or themselves of course." He corrected himself.

"Obviously, I just want to be able to defend myself." Tomoko shrugs and looks in. "I feel as if this gym isn't very welcoming to women with 'alternative' styles. I've been turned away, and so have a few girls with pink hair dye."

"I do. I’m part of the Kamen Rider Club that supports Fourze." She smiles. “I’m sure you’ve heard of him by now. It’s not like he goes to great lengths to keep his identity secret."

At that Mikoto blinked before he began to smile and nodded. "So you´re a friend of Gen-chan?"

"Yes." Tomoko nods. "When he met me, I was in a coven of witches, one of whom was a Zodiart. Gentaro gave me a sense of perspective and a new purpose in life."

"I don’t play hero. I leave that to the professionals. But I can support them."

"I do. I'm part of the Kamen Rider Club that supports Fourze." She smiles. "I'm sure you've heard of him by now. It's not like he goes to great lengths to keep his identity secret."

"I might have been. They started manifesting when I was 11, and they got stronger when I got tangled up in the Lunar Witch Cult." She shudders a bit at the memory. “I know there are people who can use these abilties to help people, and that’s what I want to do as well."

"I don't play hero. I leave that to the professionals. But I can support them."

Mayu sighed as she looked out the window. “I wonder who’ll visit me today?" she asked herself. “It’s so boring having to be in here…."

Tomoko walks in with a bundle of flowers and a board game. “Hello, Mayu-san. Would you like to play battleship with me?"

"Ah, Tomoko! It’s been a while, hasn’t it?" she asked, grinning. “I dunno if I can… it hurts a little just to move my arm…"

"Well, in that case, how about I read to you instead? I’ve got the latest draft of my novel here. It’s about pirates living in a world where everyone broadcasts their thoughts for everyone to see. Would you like to hear some of it?"

"Why not? I wouldn’t mind it!" she said.

Tomoko opens the book. “The worst part about living in this world had to be playing poker. That’s what Captain Ryuu thought. No matter how straight your face, no matter how still you kept your body, there would always be one thing that betrayed your hand. The neural implants. Because of the damnable holographic interface, a poker player might as well be showing his entire hand to the rest of the table. 20 years ago, the government of Dextron decided that there would be no secrets. among anyone. All the citizens were fitted with the Scan-tech implants, so everyone would know at all times what everyone else was thinking.

Captain Ryuu was never a fan of this. He had been implanted when he was three years old, and since then, he’d never been able to lie, or able to console a friend in need without sounding insincere. But tonight, he and the crew aboard the Gossamer Thread were going to do something about it…"

Mayu intently listened to Tomoko’s story, eyes wide in anticipation as she wanted to hear more and more of this tale.

"It had taken weeks of planning in secret. Each one of them drafted up a part of the plan without letting the others see what they were working on. That way, if the Thought Police caught them, they wouldn’t be able to reveal anything, not even if the implants were turned up to 100.

The ship’s engineer, Magnum, had the first part of the plan. A distraction at the city wall. He had paid a local group of thugs to turn up their implants to level 50, where the projections from their minds would tower up fifty feet high. They’d stand in front of the wall and start mentally insulting each other, buying time for the ship’s doctor to engage his part of the plan.

Doctor Lash would use the distraction to sneak into City Hall and fill the vents with a minor hallucinogen. Not enough to incapacitate the heads of state, but enough to give them, and everyone around them walking nightmares…"

Mayu smiled, laying back down as Tomoko told her every detail of her story… it was well into the night before she finished, and yet Mayu was awake for all of it. “Wow… Tomoko, that’s amazing!!!" she told her.

"Well, thank you. I think I still need some more work on the characters aside from the captain. And I was thinking of adding in a singer who serves as a scout for the crew. Would it be all right if I used your name for the scout? Watanabe?"
