he holds the small package in his hands, almost a little suspicious of it at first. was it going to explode? laced with poison, perhaps? he certainly couldn’t see why the tiger boy would give him something nice, considering their history. he even has rashomon ready as he unwraps the package, finding the accessories instead. ❛ you did not need to spend money on me. ❜ he’s not used to kind gestures. he’s a little confounded. they were far from friends. he had hardly done anything to deserve kindness.

「 ★ 」   ⋮    Ａ Ｎ Ａ Ｔ Ｈ Ｅ Ｍ Ａ．   ⋮  ━━   They   are   words   the   child   lost   care   for   the   moment   they   manage   to   escape   their   cage.   COMPLICATED   matters   for   certain.   When   they   are   bound   behind   those   cold   metal   bars;   they   are   on   their   best   behavior;   hoping   that   someone   whether   it   be   Mori   -   san   or   some   other   person   would   spare   their   mercy.   But   hope   was   something   that   did   not   exist   in   this   world   and   sometimes,   they   are   driven   to   the   point   in   which   they   take   matters   into   their   own   hands.   They   manage   to   escape   this   time   and   they   are   NOT   stopping.   They   will   not   wind   back   up   in   that   cage   again.

                Not   even   the   presence   of   the   Port   Mafia’s   ’   dog   ’   scared   them   and   the   other’s   opinions   are   only   left   with   a   nonchalant   look.   Whether   they   are   supposed   to   be   ’   out   ’   or   not   DOESN’T   matter.

                But   he   has   to   ADMIT   those   words   about   Dazai   -   san   were   interesting   to   say   the   least.   Even   after   Dazai   -   san’s   departure   from   the   Port   Mafia,   no   one   was   usually   bold   enough   to   make   such   statements.   

                ’   And   what   if   I   wanted   to   ?   ’

                Easier   said   than   done.   But   still   could   be   done   if   he   really   TRIED.

he’s almost amused by the child’s behavior. how nonchalant they speak of murder. though he supposed he was the same way at that age. he too, had been dragged into the port mafia’s clutches at a small age. thankfully, he hadn’t received the same treatment that this poor soul had. he had been obedient enough to not warrant cages.  ❛ well, then. ❜ he leans forward slightly, ❛ what’s your plan, now that you’re out ? you know i’m supposed to keep you contained if i should find you. my rashomon could capture you easily. ❜ but he makes no move, and neither does his coat. he’s still for now. 

❛ are you going to try to kill him, then ? ❜ a part of him wants to release the child, see if they could succeed in finally ending dazai. but he’d be in trouble for sure with mori. he knows, deep down, he can’t let the child escape and go anywhere, but he can simply speak to them for the time being.

“That’s correct,” the junior member confirmed simply, as expected from any individual of a lower rank.  His words were vague enough to obscure the confirmation from being identified as only an affirmation towards Akutagawa’s identification of who he was.  He could live with Akutagawa believing he did not need a comrade to rescue him at that time.  Oda was not particularly interested in finding himself at the edge of the young boy’s blade a second time.

…So, he chose his words carefully.  “I want to speak with you about my associate, preferably without another internal conflict.”

❛ i have nothing to say about that snake. ❜ a complete and utter lie, of course. he had so much to say about dazai, so much it was difficult to put such complicated emotions into words. it was clear from the anger in his voice and on his face that he was lying. but he had no reason to bare wounds to a complete stranger, as kind as his eyes may have looked. he didn’t trust that easily. or at all. 

❛ if you wish to speak about dazai, perhaps you should locate one of his comrades. i have never been under his good graces. ❜

   "I was bribed on the promise of food in exchange.“    Not a total lie - Dazai would have attended this even with or without. An amused smiled lingered on their lips, hands on hips to make themselves bigger - more threatening - harder to take down. The guise wasn’t entirely fake, they stood tall with the confidence that they wouldn’t be striked down like a bottle by a redneck with a gun. (really, who gives those people guns?)

   "Hubris? My, Akutagawa-Kun, when did you learn how to read the dictionary? Pride has nothing to do with it. Perhaps I’m here to see how your development has come without my presence.”

the teenager scoffs, grey eyes glaring at dazai across the way. he had wished for anyone, anyone in that stupid detective agency, but dazai. he would have preferred that insufferable tiger boy to this.
