It’s been a tough season with a crash, mild tear to the MCL, and trying to overcome those challenges both mentally and physically. In addition to a lotof stress at work, equals a state of fatigue I’ve never seen Fifi struggle with before. But @may_philippe finished the World Cup finals heading in the right direction for next year, with an 8th place and a 7th place finish. Each race moving closer to the podium is a victory in itself. @may_philippe is safely home in Switzerland. After several consultations in Warsaw with orthopedic specialists, it was discovered that he had a dislocation of the clavicle joint and small fracture to the end of the clavicle. They decided no surgery would be be best as he has good range of motion and it is already healing. Sometimes you reach the fork in the road before you expect it. @may_philippe rode 1,920 kilometers in one segment. He will get the RAP finisher’s medal for the 1,800 length. While he hoped to get the 3,600 km, there were just too many factors colliding together to prevent him from doing that. Saddle-sores, shermer’s neck, car accident, whiplash, body bruising, dog bite, you name it, it happened on this race. @may_philippe is the epitome of willpower, perseverance, and fortitude!!! He’s been having a tough time since the car struck him a few days ago. The accident has cause several ripple effects in his health, which have triggered the dreaded Shermer’s neck which he has had problems with in the past. He has a phenomenal support crew who were able to push him through the night and get him to the time cut in advance, so he is still allowed to continue on. He is currently taking a big rest at the hotel at the checkpoint, we are hoping with continued therapy and time, he can overcome all the issues that are causing him pain. Thanks so much to the race photographer who took the first 3 photos here. The photographers are working round the clock to follow the racers and freeze moments of triumph and agony and victory in time. Thanks to @blazej.sawicki for his magic hands and calm attitude. @may_philippe had an extremely tough day yesterday. We lost him when our car broke down, then we were able to send help ahead with several sets of dry clothes the change into because of the thunderstorms. Before the help we sent out arrived, a careless driver struck Fifi from the side when she was exiting a parking lot. It could’ve been a lot worse, as there was a lot of traffic and the impact threw him from his bike. We are thankful that his injuries are not worse, but believe he got whiplash as his neck is quite painful now. He is back on the bike and doing very well under the circumstances.
