A brief moment of pure clarity is all it took for me to realise what I had done. I had been pulling myself apart, shadowing myself behind others for no good reason but my blind devotion to someone who cast the first shadow upon me. I lost myself. I was defined by another's reflection of me, and reflections as I now know, are easily skewed. That clarity hit me like a wave in a maelstrom, crashing over me, banishing the shadows and any need for them. I refuse to be a shadowy reflection of a person, so I step into the light and away from these mirrors, I begin again.
