PMDD is like having a completely different mindset towards your life, towards the people around you, and towards yourself for a few days each month. It makes you have horrible thoughts that wouldn't even cross your mind on a normal day. It's like suddenly falling into a pit of deep depression but then snapping out of it a few days later and feeling frustrated that you ever felt that way. It's having to remind yourself that the thoughts will go away soon and what you feel isn't reality. The thoughts that I'm not loved and that nobody cares, the urge for self harm, suicide even, is something that never fails to scream in my head during this time. Reminding myself it only lasts a few days is the best way to overcome it. Being aware that it's a condition is so important.

It’s incredible how much the things surrounding you effect your mentality. Over the past 12 months I have almost completely left behind all traces of that heavy pain in my chest that hovered over me for all those years. Surround yourself with negative people and your life becomes one big negative. Surround yourself with positive people who want to explore, try new things and are full of life, then you will learn to truly live.

Don’t get me wrong, everyone has down days and that’s just life, but don’t linger in the sad times.
