I have the headcanon that after Ava finally accepts her place as the Warrior nun and starts seeing the other sister warriors as her family (something more in Bea’s case) her fight and flight response changes completely. In her mind she’s the one who can get hurt and heal quickly so isn’t it better if she’s the one who takes the hits? It makes total sense in her head.
