Worth Fighting For
My personal thoughts on the advancement of knowledge for the benefit of the students at schools like mine are that, we are not compatible with other schools in more fortunate or thriving neighborhoods. I feel as though they can afford to give their students more in depth understanding on subjects because they have more up to date learning tools. However, I still don’t feel as though that is an excuse for why I am not receiving the same level of education as a fellow student in my grade level or any other, just because of our difference in social class. I almost feel as though some educators have faced quite a bit of failure with students from less fortunate schools such as my own. Therefore, they’ve given up hope on all of their students to come and stopped fighting to better the way that we learn and the methods by which they teach us. I feel as though the only way to make us all receive a fair and equal educational opportunity is for educators and students to fight for the change and show positive initiative for something truly important.
I also feel as though too much focus is put on standardized tests. I would really like some explanation as to why students who got Cs, Ds, and Fs during the entire school year, sat down and took a 2-4 hour test and got a super high score. Clearly, this individual is not smart or worried about investing in themselves to have a good reputation because they did close to nothing in any of their courses. Therefore, I feel as though the decision for choosing who attends a prestigious college or receives full rides scholarships should be based off of who's been investing in building reputability from the beginning. #TRUTHOFTHEMATTER
