When I was a child and my father asked me to dance, I'd say no because I was very shy and like to stay away from attention. Today I'd give anything to dance with my father again, eight years ago I lost my chance to be able to do that. My heart is heavy today because it has been eight years since I lost the most important man in my life. This day is so much easier to get through with my loving mother and sister by my side. As a collective we have been through hell and back. Even though we aren't at the ideal location to spend this day remembering him, all we really need is each other. Mom went through her first round of chemo today, started out a little shaky (literally), which gave us a bit of a fright. But eventually the doctors stopped the medication that was causing that to happen. Mom spent the day mostly resting, and later playing different card games. She's still a pro at rummy even in the hospital. Late afternoon she received a beautiful bouquet of flowers which ok unfortunately she wasn't allowed to keep, but still a kind gesture. We ended our day watching the usual Family Feud followed by Judge Judy and walked two laps around the floor. Moms ready to kick this cancer in the ass. #wegotthis #stayingstrong (at UCSF Medical Center)
