“…Either you leave and risk letting the curse kill you, yet again; Or, you can listen to me and change that reoccurring fate of yours.”
Gebel’s heart feels like it’s stopped dead. The slow rhythm of its beats prove he’s alive. Such words are illogical from her. She’s just a demon. He shouldn’t listen to her. But he feels it is the absolute truth.

Summary: Aym decides to entertain herself with the latest soul to challenge her rule in the Inferno.
“..Ruling? Over demons? What a drag. Don’t bother me, Gebel, you love-struck idiot. I don’t have the time to care and neither do you. Wake me up when it’s something important.”
(Everything else just pisses me off. Why did I ever bother trying to survive, when I’m going to die soon anyway?!
Still.. I suppose I can ‘live’, for Jolene’s sake. Whatever that means.)

Birthday: 15th of December, 1763
Likes: Jolene, Gebel, sleeping
Dislikes: Being woken up, weaklings, Alchemists
Values: Jolene
Hobby: Sleeping (‘What do you mean, that doesn’t count?!’ - Morrigan)

An apathetic, older shardbinder who was wandering place to place after escaping a workhouse, soon brought to the alchemists guild in England. Morrigan prefers to sleep alongside her lover Jolene to pass the time. She is apathetic of her fate to decay as a shardbinder, and feels it is all meaningless.
Even though she isn’t a fan of Gebel’s grand ideals, she still follows him regardless. Perhaps he’s the only man that she trusts.
A bit late to announce this, but I do have an AO3 account, which is here. I’ll mainly post my writing on there now as I can tag it better but I’ll still post some here too.
Zangetsu: Wait— “Mummy"!? You're a mom? You?! You’re a nun. How the fu-
Andariel: Come now, Zangetsu, look at me. Do I look like I have any interest in children? Now, making them... (she covers Galene’s ears) well, that's another story~
Zangetsu: “..wait, you're getting the wrong idea. I mean, it might be the right idea, when I’m not working, but not right now.. right?” *Zangetsu.exe has stopped working*
Aym: “Plants are basically the ideal friends. They are quiet, friendly, and easy to please. All they need is a little water and fresh earth, and they are perfectly happy to lie there all day in the sun. And they don’t make increasingly awful life choices, or hide their relationships. They have never, as far as I know, been fucked by a man.” :)
By this point, if you are reading this; I am dead, either from my madness consuming me or other reasons. Likely demon related; I am not optimistic, for I know my death will not be a pleasant one.
Do not hate or blame yourself. Fate has never been kind to me; I do not wish for you to suffer thinking you couldn’t save an already doomed woman. My death was destined to happen eventually, much quicker than you or our friends.
That boy, Gebel.. he will do many terrible things. Take many lives. He will soon become the source of humanity’s misery. I saw it, on that day. He will destroy every human if he is not stopped. You must kill him, along with those other filthy things that claim to be human yet have demonic crystals in their flesh.
If you didn’t pull me up, from the depths on that day.. I wouldn’t be here. You didn’t give up on me, when plenty of others have called me a mad woman and left it at that. A mad woman who wanted to save the humans she loved more than her own morals. My sins must be forgiven before I die, however. I have selfishly spent those years with you trying to do some good in my short life.
I might have loved you; perhaps that’s why I continued on living despite my limited time. Before I knew it, my unjust desire to save humans no matter the cost to myself conflicted with your desire to do what is right. Despite your own suffering, you bounce back and keep moving forward; it’s what I like about you.
I can only hope I died an honourable death by your side. May we meet each other in the next life.
Andariel’s scream of despair snaps Zangetsu out of his grief. The only reason she is not running to save her friend is because Gebel pulls her back and has to hold onto her very tightly.
“You can’t do anything: she’s already dead.”
He insists to her calmly. Panicking isn’t going to solve anything. He may dislike her, but.. Gebel has standards. Some. Not many. But enough.
Lydia, who was standing beside the altar, cannot move. What.. what she saw.. days ago, that was true..? Avnas.. was really that monster? There was no angel sent to save everyone? God did nothing? She.. she truly helped a demon..? She’s killed many lives.. for a demon..?!
Lydia can only laugh with a smile of the mad. She cannot see anymore with the purging of the sinful parts of her body; Avnas gave her some sight back barely. No.. she won’t believe it. This must be some trick.
“This.. this is just a test of my faith! I.. I won’t leave her..! I.. I’ll follow her.. no matter the suffering..!”
She declares, smiling all the way as she gladly walks towards her beloved friend. Yes.. yes, this is just a test from God! It must be.
“We.. we should do something, shouldn’t we?”
Jolene asks quietly. That nun might be.. well, clearly crazy, but she doesn’t deserve to die. Morrigan stops and stares at her.
“…Who the fuck’s ‘We’? She’s taking herself out. We can get the hell out of here now.”
“Not yet. I want the Libre Logeath. That’s all, then we leave.”
Gebel states. Morrigan looks at him, annoyed, before she soon sighs.
“. . . Okay, fine, idiot, but don’t expect us to help. I’m looking for the church’s wine cellar.”
She remarks. As Morrigan and Jolene wander away in the crowded chaos, Gebel merely grabs Andariel’s hand to lead her away as he’s got a feeling of what’s going to happen to Lydia at any second.
“Yes.. I-I won’t leave you..!—“
Lydia’s ramblings are cut short by Avnas using one of her other tentacles to impale and then devour her, drawing it out slowly to wring every drop of blood from the poor nun’s body. As much as Zangetsu wants to help her.. she also did nothing to stop the Priestess walking to her death.
“..it will be okay, friend. You won’t be alone anymore. We will be one. Together.”
Avnas murmurs to herself, smiling. A dozen kunai thrown at her face causes her to blink in confusion. Such weak, pitiful human weapons.
“Do you mind..? I have no quarrel with any other human; that one dared to wish for information to destroy my race. I have simply collected what is owed to ‘me’.”
“Shut up.”
“. . . Ah.. I am happy to see you. My other half may not be here; but I will do. We must fight. You must pay for your sins, against our beloved.”
“Just shut up, you sick freak..!”
He doesn’t care. He doesn’t care. He will tear this thing apart. He will make it suffer. Every last filthy appendage and limb it has will be a bloodied stain.
Avnas tilts her head. This is very confusing to her. The Zangetsu she knew had taken their beloved away from them. He sealed them - ‘her’ and her other half. She remembers vividly.
Zangetsu had forgotten how much he truly hated these creatures. No.. Not forgotten.. He denied it, he wanted to seem more ‘stable’ for his friends. Allowed himself to hope this could get better. How stupid of him. He won’t hesitate next time.
“You.. are not ‘him’..? I do not understand. Who are you?”
Avnas wonders. She’s tilting her head in confusion. The real one was taller. Had a better voice and better body. She does not understand.
“… Zangetsu. That’s all you need to know.”
She looks at him; the slit eyes being more confused than angry. Avnas circles around him for a minute, before returning to where she stood.
“. . . I see.. you are not ‘him’.. I.. do not understand why, but I will endeavour to. This.. ‘sadness’ humans feel.. is illogical, to me and my other half. I must understand it..”
She muses to herself; Zangetsu soon kicking her in the face knocks Avnas back a bit.
“..My other half will not be happy if you ‘kill’ me. I advise you to stop.“
“SHUT UP AND DIE!”
“..A long time ago, there was another who bore your name. Who sealed ‘myself’. I.. wanted to fight him. Me and my other half did. Very much. We wanted him to suffer. For he took our beloved away from us.. and now.. we cannot, for he is dead. . Why do I feel so much of this ‘sadness’?”
Avnas murmurs. Such emotions are illogical to them. But she feels very sad that she cannot fight the first one ever again. Her other half will feel very sad as well.
“Stop talking..!”
“You first.”
Avnas’s remark is followed by one of her many appendages suddenly slicing his throat clean open. He can’t stop it—Fuck! No no no no no—
-
“Welcome back.”
Aym’s comment causes his eye to snap open. She’s relaxing on her throne, although she’s bothered to have a seat put out for him this time.
“..god’s sake, not this again.”
He mutters. Aw, shit. He’s dead again, isn’t he. Yep, the blood pouring from his slit throat is proof. Fuck. He forces himself back up.
“I don’t have time for you, Aym.”
“And I don’t have time for you to be rude towards me. It is not MY doing that you have this curse.”
. . .
“We could glare at each other all day, you know.”
Aym replies after a few minutes of silence.
“Well, make it worth my time to talk to you.”
“I have nothing to say to you regarding my own plan.”
“I figured that. Tell me what the demon that killed the Priestess is, then. That is all I’ll ask.”
Zangetsu mutters before asking Aym that.
“If you must know, I created Avnas myself. I used one of my ribs; this was before I was sealed first. The way I made her was mocking how the human’s ‘god’ above made Eve, the first woman.”
“. . . So, your daughter then.”
Zangetsu remarks. Well, killing it will make him feel ten times better. Thank you Aym.
“—-Daughter?.. No. How disgusting. You are implying I had sex with some man and birthed some creature.”
She gags at the thought.
“No, no. Avnas merely was another vessel for me, to be able to walk outside of the Inferno. She grew her own soul during the time I was sealed, so.. I had no need to ‘kill’ her when she is her own being, in a sense. We are one and the same, yet she is more ‘human’ as a result.”
Aym admits casually. Before Zangetsu can even glare at her in sheer rage, Aym opens a portal beneath his feet and lets herself heal him, so he can leave.
“Have a nice trip.”
-
Andariel can’t move. Her legs won’t let her; oh, right. She doesn’t have any legs connected to her torso anymore. Her flesh quickly knits itself back together; she doesn’t have time to grieve her friend’s death.
She needs to get back to the church. Get back to the church, then grab the Libre Logeath from that little BASTARD that ambushed her and tore her apart. She doesn’t care that he’s young, oh no. The Priestess was completely right to want to destroy him. She hates that she had a point. Violence is never usually the answer.
“Sorry.”
Andariel apologises to the blood stain that was once the Priestess. It’s useless; she knows it won’t bring her back, but she feels to blame. Why didn’t she NOTICE the warning signs? She could’ve.. said something, DONE something..!
She teleports back to the church with a flick of her wrist. Teleporting takes a lot out of her, but she doesn’t have the time. She returns to Father Samson’s office, tries to stitch up her clothing’s damage. Andariel isn’t very good at it.
“Sister Eleison?”
“Ah, er, Father Samson. I-I’m sorry for leaving abruptly, but we need to talk. Privately.”
“.. I’m married to God, sister.”
“N-Not that, sir!”
Andariel squeaks, blushing.
“Oh— right. Sorry. That’s been on my mind.”
“I-It’s fine.”
Andariel insists. The priest sits down near his desk and Andariel tries to focus.
“Sir.. I-I have reason to believe some of these ‘demons’ are in fact children, cursed with demonic crystals. We- We simply cannot allow the church’s soldiers to go after them. They’re just as scared as we are.
I.. I saw the people we trusted to help others just.. casually, attack these children! We can’t allow that.”
“Can’t allow.. what, Slaying demons? That IS part of our holy mission.”
Andariel’s heart has now stopped dead. No. No.. no no..!
“B.. But, sir.. they’re children! The good Lord-“
“The good Lord says to destroy every last filthy demon. Are you questioning His guidance, Sister Eleison?”
“N-No! No! But- But we can’t hurt them! They’re just very scared! They’re children! We- We can’t allow it! Y-You have to tell the others!”
“Do not raise your tone with me. I am still your superior.”
“F-Father Samson—“
His fist slams down on the desk, causing her to jump.
“NO! I have heard ENOUGH! I have defended your ridiculous, CHILDISH habits for the last time! I knew you were a whore once, and I can excuse that with the sexual intercourse we have, barely, as I’ve had much better; but to believe.. No, to even THINK we can spare these monsters that have took many lives is completely unacceptable!”
“I.. I wasn’t.. a whore.”
Andariel can feel the tears forming in her eyes from his yelling; she tries to blink them away. She needs to be strong. He yells at her more and more and Andariel can feel herself about to break and shatter.
“Shut up.. Shut up Shut up SHUT UP SHUT UP!!!!“
She screams out, shattering the room windows. It may be selfish of her. Maybe it’s even ‘evil’ like everyone claims demons always are. She won’t let him hurt those children or anyone cursed like them. She will not allow it.
Andariel’s own hands move on their own before she can stop herself; shards of ice impale him first to the room wall. His screams are stopped by the blood filling his lungs slowly.
This isn’t the first time she’s killed a man,
She takes one icicle from the frozen room; Andariel has just noticed she’s accidentally froze it in her murderous rage; her own magic is usually kept hidden, she never really has had sudden outbursts of emotion. Her hands move on their own, stabbing him over and over and OVER AND OVER AND OVER—
But Andariel supposes, this is the first time she’s killed a man while crying.
Andariel knows this man is not her last husband. But his appearance, likeness to him causes emotions and memories to stir in the depths of grief.
It wasn’t your typical romance, really; she was summoned by him. An alchemist by the name of John Dee. One of the first, she recalls. He wanted information on infernal demons for some book; he was very lucky to summon her from the Inferno and not any other demon.
Andariel.. well, truthfully, wanted a man who looked like her first husband to love her again. Perhaps it was a selfish ‘love’ the two had, started from a business-like agreement, but it was love regardless.
She helped him write the book he wanted to write so much, giving him endless amounts of information about demons.
He loved her in return, letting her experience ‘human’ love once again. They lived together. He wanted children, she let him sire some with a mistress. Their life wasn’t the most exciting, but she enjoyed living as a ‘human’ beside him.
Around the 1600’s, the king of England moved away from the studies of alchemy; her husband was booted out of his court and left with nothing. All of his life’s work was disregarded as pure fiction and he was left to die in the streets.
So she tried to save him; she offered him her demonic blood. If he lived long enough.. She just knew things would get better. Her blood would allow that.
He wanted to die as a human.
She had to watch him die there, alone, in the alleyway in the winter. She waited until she knew he was gone before she made her way back to his home and took his children with her. She did not wish to see them suffer.
She took them to the woods where she once lived alone. A quiet place where they can live freely away from humans who ask many questions. Safe.
She left them by some large tree so she could look for some food for them to eat; only when she returned only minutes later, they were nowhere to be found.
All she could see was the filthy, depraved naga-like demon that devoured them. A ‘Resentment’. It usually targets bad children when it is outside of the Inferno.
She.. she couldn’t save them, either.
~
She stumbles out of the office, covered in blood. Andariel runs as fast as she can; her legs still itch and have scarred over terribly but she won’t stop. If she does, she’ll break, likely sleep the next year or two off. She can’t afford to do that.
She’s always been running away; always fleeing from, always searching for the human ‘love’ she could never have again.
-
Zangetsu’s awake instantly when his wounds have healed. It’s never easy for him to get used to the ‘feeling’, but he’ll get there. His wound has scarred over and it’ll take a while for his voice to recover.
“. . . How are you alive?”
Avnas asks, unnerved for the first time in her life. She goes to slice his limbs open again; only for the Zangetsuto to be thrown and pierce her left eye. He grabs it once he’s in range and ignores the pain from her other limbs trying to tear him open; nothing matters now but making this depraved THING suffer and die painfully.
Every single swing of his sword aims for whatever eldritch limb it can find, cutting through it like knives through butter.
“Ngh— How.. are you doing this..? My healing.. cannot.. restore..?”
Avnas wonders, futilely trying to regenerate any of her lost limbs. They work, barely, allowing her to grab his wrist and go to tear it off.
“—I don’t think so.”
A swift kick from another swordsman with dark blue hair stops her attempt to maim Zangetsu; Avnas’s brief confused state allows Zangetsu to cut her torso into many, many bloodied pieces with one slash.
“Jay Corva.. you dare interrupt my fight..?”
Avnas murmurs to the other swordsman despite missing her head from her shoulders. She’s more angry at him. How dare he..!
“Just shut up and go back to hell.”
Jay coldly states. Avnas smiles at this, grinning and laughing as she starts to get dragged back to the Inferno.
“Hehe.. it doesn’t matter.. I’ve made him suffer, and collected the soul owed to me..! Hehehehahaha..! Your attempt at ‘killing’ me is purely pointless! Meaningless!”
She laughs, mocking them. Mocking him. Zangetsu twitches in sheer rage and starts angrily stabbing the laughing ‘corpse’ of the demon even as it’s dragged to the Inferno; until his sword hits the floor with a resounding clang from how hard he was trying to stab it.
Jay soon frowns at this.
“Hey.. Hey, Zangetsu. It’s alright, it’s over—“
His friend’s attempt to pat him on the shoulder is brushed off instantly with the red swordsman giving him a cold glare, but he soon realises it’s his friend and tries to calm down.
“. . . Thank you for helping me, Jay. See you.”
Zangetsu replies curtly. Jay frowns, before he quickly gives chase after his friend. What’s gotten into him? He knows he wasn’t doing the best mentally prior, but this.. is new.
-
“Oh, good, your alive.”
Morrigan comments to Gebel. She and Jolene escaped outside and have been drinking a bit.
“By the way, we found these three morons in the crowd.”
She then adds, gesturing to the trio of Charlie, Athe and Galene. Gebel is genuinely happy to see more of his kin alive, but they can celebrate later.
“..we’re not morons.”
Charlie mutters. It’s not their fault the place turned out to be a cult, dammit!
“Look, who WILLINGLY follows an angel to this place?”
Galene very quietly raises his hand in response to Morrigan’s dry remark.
“That.. that checks out.”
Jolene says.
“Fiiine, you’re not morons.”
Morrigan mutters. She knows when she’s beaten.
“.. what’s the plan now, then. Apart from searching for your girlfriend.”
Charlie then asks Gebel. Gebel goes a bit red, blushing. He tries to act strong and cover it up with his shirt.
“M-Miriam isn’t my.. w-well, um.. you’re not really wrong-“
“Idiot. Focus.”
“Sorry, sorry.. and my plan, well.. I have the means of getting us our own safe haven, right here.”
He declares with a smile, holding the Libre Logeath. Yes.. the future of their kind, for once, is looking bright.
The depths of the void, the forbidden knowledge only demons know.
Drowning in a sea only she could see.
Perhaps her madness is her punishment for seeking power, issued by ‘God’. Even if the power she seeks is for the good of humanity.
-
Her desire for power started from a vision sent by God himself. The hordes of demons, the lives lost. The suffering she saw was too much. She couldn’t sleep for days, spending them crying to herself and locking herself away in her home. She was weak and pathetic, back then. What could she, a mere priestess who had no magic, no skill in combat, do against demons?
The idea for gaining power from demons took root. Maybe it was a selfish desire; but if God himself sent her that vision.. she must prove herself worthy of it.
She gained information of demons from Asami’s drunken rambling late one night. How to summon them wasn’t part of that; but the Priestess is a quick learner. Infernal demons require a few things to summon them to this ‘ground world’ as they call it.
~
Firstly, human blood. Lots of it.
Secondly, the proper ritual circle. Any mistakes could just open a portal and flood anywhere with demons. She wouldn’t want that. Just one to talk to.
Thirdly, someone must suffer to complete it. Typically, this means a ritual sacrifice or a virgin sacrifice.
~
The first two were quite easy; the third wasn’t. She wondered for days who would satisfy that requirement; she couldn’t sacrifice anyone close to herself, after all.
A slave girl that no one wanted, in the middle of town. The price was extremely cheap. Who’d miss her? She called the girl ‘daughter’ for selfish reasons; the girl clung to her for dear life.
Those days spent together were merely to strengthen their bond. Nothing more, nothing less. It wasn’t anything personal towards this child.
The ritual went well. The girl’s suffering brought forth a demon, as expected. She was dragged to the Inferno the moment the light died from her young eyes.
The Priestess.. felt nothing. This small sacrifice would be grant her endless knowledge, for the good of the human race.
The demon she brought.. was not what the Priestess expected. A creature that looked human but was as vile as corrupt as any other. They spoke over glasses of Saké; Aym drank more than the Priestess did but kept sober.
“Let me get this straight; you brought me here, just for me to grant you knowledge to destroy my race?”
“Perhaps. But you will obey me, Aym. I brought you here.”
Aym stood up suddenly.
“. . . What a boring woman you are. Most people who summon me wish for greater things than that. Power. Women. Gold. All of the above. That, itself.. is petty, arrogant. I do not like arrogance in humans. Especially one that kills a little girl.”
“You WILL obey me, Aym!—“
Aym’s hand grabbed her chest— no, went inside of it. She couldn’t move but she could ‘see’ what Aym wanted to show her. Too much. Too much. She was drowning; Her lungs were filling up.
Aym left after that, returning to the Inferno. She never saw her again.
But the knowledge Aym gave her stayed.
In a sense.. Aym did do what she wanted.
The madness.. the longing for the void.. is just a side effect.
-
It started with a request from the church; they’d apparently lost contact with a militant group made to combat the demons, on their way to the alchemists guild a day ago. Zangetsu isn’t fond of the church, he’s seen what they’ve done to people who don’t comply with their authority. Their habit of burning people on sticks, mainly. Who even does that?
That little ‘request’ turned into them threatening to drag them there, so he’s only come with the Priestess to the building to shut them up.
“..We don’t exactly work for the church.”
“S-Sorry I’m late, sir!”
Andariel exclaims, running back into the office. Zangetsu blinks; He’s liking what he sees. Cute. Nice hair colour. Seems like she actually has her head on straight regarding the demons, as he is pretty sure a lady of her description was described in the letter regarding the lost church militants. If she’s lived, even with tattered clothes, that’s good enough for him.
“—For free. Yes, we don’t work for the church for free. It may be our job to slay demons, but we have to have some compensation somehow. You’d understand.”
He instantly says, offering a small smile of reassurance to the nun. Okay, now he’s more interested. The Priestess looks at him with a raised eyebrow, before it clicks and she’s struggling not to get annoyed. For God’s sake, did he really just agree to a job because he saw a pretty lady?.. She’s one to talk, she supposes, as she finds this nun to be cute; but still!
Father Samson just pauses as he notices Andariel’s tattered clothes. The wounds have stitched themself back together and resemble crude scars.
“Sister Eleison.. where have you been, exactly?”
“I-It’s a bit of a long story, sir.. aha..”
She laughs nervously, trying not to stare at the handsome swordsman. Focus, Andariel, you’re here to report a few things. Not the shardbinders, she has no quarrel with them. If she can just get across that there are some children with demonic curses, then.. hopefully Father Samson can order any other church members not to attack them. That’s her idea.
Not the handsome man. Nope. Uh-uh. Although he looks like her husband. Maybe it’s just the black short hair, the look in his eyes, the toned nine pack of abs— Stop it, you’re here to focus! But.. she hasn’t really had a good roll in the sheets for a few weeks now, either.. Stress-Sex would be lovely. She hates to admit it. Well.. she can tell the priest later.
“I do not mind accompanying them with the task at hand. It will be good to stretch my legs.”
“Sister-“
“See you!”
She slams the door shut after dragging the two out.. although she has to take a few breaths. Zangetsu calmly waits, as he’s more intrigued by her.
“. . . You look like your out of breath.”
“S-Somewhat, I’ve had to run from many demons f-for.. for quite a while.. I-I haven’t ran that much for a long time..”
She admits sheepishly.
“.. then why come with us? You should rest.”
The Priestess wonders.
“W-Well, um.. Father Samson doesn’t usually hire.. er..”
Poor Andariel has a bit of a blank stare before she focuses. Zangetsu has to force himself to focus and not laugh a bit at this.
“H-He doesn’t really hire.. hired help, you know. I’m curious.”
“… you just want to help and then bed us, don’t you.”
The Priestess remarks, electing a state from Zangetsu as she doesn’t really comment like that. Ever. He.. isn’t complaining.. but it’s odd.
“Wh- What?!.. I mean.. maybe, but w-we need to focus! The- umm- the world’s at stake, er- yes, there’s important things we need to do!”
She insists.
-
The group’s last location is easily caught up to; Andariel lead them near the house that was reported as having the residents gone ‘missing’. The sheer amount of blood is proof the militant group didn’t make it back. Zangetsu is no stranger to gore, although the amount of it makes him wonder a few things.
“Sister, You didn’t tell us how you escaped this.”
“Good luck and a very strong pair of legs.”
Andariel claims with a small smile. The Priestess merely nods. Makes sense, really. Zangetsu hums in acknowledgement.
The main one, Valerie Baldwin - mother to a few children, rich noble, clearly used to stabbing once and it being over - was torn apart. Barely anything left other than her spear with her name carved into the handle. The others stabbed, beaten, torn into pieces. Logically speaking, the fact Sister Eleison hasn’t received similar wounds is.. strange. Very.
He won’t point fingers; she’s grieving her friend’s deaths still and keeps it together only because she’s in front of people. It just strikes him as odd. Maybe she did get lucky and ran for it. Whatever the case, he’ll ask more questions later.
Their attempt to head back to the alchemist’s guild is stopped as the Priestess then notices; the group of shardbinders; She starts calmly walking towards them so the two follow her.
“Ahaha.. hahaha! I-I knew it! I knew it, I knew I wasn’t mad..!”
“. . . Priestess. Calm down.”
Zangetsu sternly says to her. She rolls her eyes, drawing her dagger. Gebel glares at them.. before he notices. Andariel. She’s changed her hairstyle, tied it up and healed, but it’s the nun alright. Morrigan immediately glares at her and is all the more ready to stab this traitor.
Gebel supposes the blonde woman’s comment of Andariel being a whore was right on the money; she’s gotten herself a new man already.
“I do not have any quarrel with you all. Just.. um.. we have business, to attend to. Let us pass. Please.”
“You got in our way first.”
Gebel points out. The Priestess is clinging to whatever shreds of sanity she has left, twitching and smiling eerily. Morrigan just frowns at this. Oh, great, another crazy one.
“.. we need to kill them.. Zangetsu; we need to kill them..!”
“They’re children-“
“Demons! Don’t call them children. They’re just filthy demons that look like us! Every last one should be destroyed.”
The Priestess insists after grabbing Andariel by the shirt. Andariel is struggling not to get concerned at this; Where the hell did THIS come from?
“Priestess. Knock it off. We are not here to fight them.”
Zangetsu tells her off. He gets it, really. But not now.
“But, but- Zangetsu..”
“No.”
“.. aww..”
She ‘droops’ in sadness, although she perks up when she notices something, drops Andariel and sneaks off to see it.
“Ignore that, she got over-excited.”
“Clearly. She doesn’t have any manners like the rest of you disgusting creatures.”
Zangetsu goes quiet at Gebel’s comment and struggles not to get annoyed even more. It’s not worth it, it is not worth it. The Priestess did just threaten to kill them. Some hostility is to be expected. He then sees in the corner of his eye, that the Priestess had wandered off.
“. . . Priestess?”
He then notices. The ‘angel’ she mentioned once is nearby, wandering back. Something.. does not seem right about it. He doesn’t know what. Gebel immediately frowns when he sees Jolene eagerly follow it, and Morrigan following her.
“. . . I do not like you.”
“And I do not like you either.”
The two men state bluntly to the other. They won’t hide their disdain for the other. Their own goals are incompatible. The moment they saw each other, they’ve instantly understood; eventually, the other man would have to die for their mission to be successful.
“For now..”
“Yes. For now, we can.. tolerate, each other. Even if your lack of an eye is grotesque.”
“Says you, the walking crystal statue. I thought statues were meant to be good-looking.”
-
The church of Paradise - that’s what it’s formally called. The church of England calls it a freak cult and any worshippers from it are often captured and tortured by religious fanatics. Those rescued by it are often recruited to it, so.. Zangetsu can see why they’d think it’s a cult following. It certainly gives off that feeling. Even if he objects to torturing them.
They worship this angel like she’s a goddess; there’s barely any men around. The church itself is rebuilt, fortified against the demons. They glare at the demons that pretend to look human; Gebel is used to the glares so he pays it no mind. Morrigan isn’t stabbing anyone glaring at Jolene because Jolene holds her hand to stop her.
“…this place is weird.”
Andariel is the first to mutter to Zangetsu. The priestess is ahead of them, gladly following the angel.
“Glad it isn’t just me who thinks that.”
“I’ve heard the rumours, but.. to see it.. I don’t know. I’m very happy they’ve found somewhere to stay, away from the demons.. but..”
“Something isn’t right, you can tell.”
“Exactly. But I don’t know what.”
Andariel admits, narrowing her eyes as she tries to think of what this feeling is. There’s no demonic ritual circles, or spilled blood.. the scent of blood would trigger her own.
The angel is surrounded by her followers; many women of ages and sizes and colours. If you ignore the eerie feelings.. it is rather lovely to see so many people together with nobody hating anyone. The angel then sees the Priestess and eagerly smiles.
“A fellow Sister of Faith..? Come closer, follow, follow me. We must speak; You must have travelled quite a distance to arrive here with your friends.”
“Ahaha.. I.. I just knew..! I-I knew you were real. I knew, you’d come here to save us..!”
She’s crying out of pure joy. Zangetsu is a bit unnerved, truthfully. Something in the back of his mind is telling him this isn’t good. He doesn’t know what exactly. But he hasn’t seen the Priestess be this genuinely happy in ages.
“Sister.. do not despair. Your path, the trial God has given you was truly destined to bring you here. Even with the ‘sins’ you claim you have.. The Gates of Paradise will always remain open for you.”
His eye glances back at the group of demons that pretend to be human. They’ve got to be eliminated later. Even if they look like children. It’s nothing personal. He’d apologise, even, but he isn’t that deluded.
“…what do you think. About this angel.”
He curtly asks Gebel nearby. Gebel hasn’t been paying attention; he’s looking for Miriam in the crowds of people. Maybe she’s somewhere here..?
“.. I don’t believe in a god. Not anymore. But I’m not that angry at god, to not realise it’s someone else’s lifeline. It looks real and is healing others.”
“True.”
She’s smiling, laughing. Zangetsu hasn’t seen her genuinely smile this much ever since she was ‘cursed’ with her knowledge. He may not be a full believer, but.. for once, maybe he can believe a bit. For her sake. He even feels a bit of a smile on his face.
“For your service to the divine.. allow me to bless you, sister. To heal your fractured mind.”
“R.. Really..? Y..You.. G-God has forgiven me for..?”
Avnas nods softly at the Priestess’ question. The Priestess almost runs towards the angel, although she takes care not to trip; Avnas holds her hand out for her. It only takes a second or two for the Priestess to get near her on the altar. She’ll finally be forgiven.. She’ll finally be able to use her knowledge for genuine good, she’ll finally be able to tell Zangetsu she loves him..
It only takes a second..
..for Avnas’s razor-sharp maw to eagerly devour the Priestess in one fell swoop. The scream of pure terror the frightened Priestess lets out is blocked out by the infernal demon crunching and chewing on her bones and flesh. Blood drips down from the altar where the Priestess stood.
It then hits Zangetsu like a fatal blow:
He is truly alone.
He’s always been alone. Death surrounds him at every moment. It is natural, he tells himself. They both had accepted dying as a possibility during their ‘job’ a very long time ago.
But..
He wanted this one friend of his to live, for her to be happy. Perhaps it was selfish of him, he wonders as he can only stare at the puddle of blood that is left of her. Not even a puddle; mere drops of blood.
Maybe she knew what monster that was pretending to be human in front of her, and decided to give up before her madness overwhelmed her.
Trying to be positive makes him feel even worse. There’s no body to bury. He wasn’t quick enough to realise and save her. He can’t save anyone, anyone who decides to befriend him winds up dead. It’s happening again. Why is this happening again?! What did he do wrong!? Why couldn’t she live, why didn’t he DO something?! He..
He just realised.
He never knew her name. After all this time. After the days, weeks, months and years they’ve spent together.
Vines as sharp as daggers fly through the air, piercing through the knives Morrigan throws at it. Morrigan isn’t skewered by them only because she rolls out of the way, barely missing it.
“Shit, that’s not good!— HEY! Idiots! Get the fuck up, we’ve got a problem!”
“Morrigan, You’re going to attract trouble, yelling like that-“
Gebel immediately narrows his eyes at the Lubius, the second he wanders back near the two. It twitches, tentacle-like vines curling in confusion at his glare. It must be trying to trick him. It stopped attacking them.
“Miriam.. was that thing, wasn’t she. She wasn’t even here with us at all. She.. she’s..”
He coldly asks the two. He isn’t angry at them; Jolene can tell. He’s absolutely devastated internally, struggling not to yell in anger and despair. Yelling won’t solve anything, actions will.
“Y-Yeah, it.. it seems that way.”
Jolene says, as Morrigan is more focused on throwing whatever she can grab at the demon to stun it. Stupid pest. The fact it went for Jolene first pisses her off the most.
“What’s all the— oh, fuck sake, I bloody knew something was up!”
Andariel curses as she’s wandered out of the area she and Gebel were talking in. The Lubius instantly tries to attack Morrigan when she’s distracted, only for Jolene to parry its razor sharp vines with Morrigan’s spare dagger.
“Good work.”
Morrigan says off-handily to Jolene. Jolene instantly stops and looks at Morrigan with a look of sheer happiness. Gebel blinks. Is.. is now the time for that? He’s one to talk, but he can tell Jolene’s absolutely in love even more.
“You.. you actually praised me, Mori?”
“.. Yeah? You saved my face. That’s where my good looks are the most.”
Morrigan replies curtly.
“Oh my god oh-my-god oh-my-god oh-my-god oh-my-god she praised me! She praised me!”
Parts of the Lubius are cut off from the sheer amounts of cuts and slices Jolene eagerly preforms with the dagger, allowing Gebel to summon his sword and skewer it through, slowly and drawing it out to see it squirm. It still twitches and tries to attack him, the mutilated vines even trying to reach out towards him; Andariel soon puts the poor thing out of its pained misery when she freezes it into a pretty statue.
“..I had that demon, right there!”
Gebel yells at her once the shock wears off. Who the FUCK gave her the right!?
“You were making it suffer. It may have tried to attack us, but.. no one deserves to suffer.”
Andariel insists. Gebel just kicks the statue into many pieces in response, to burn off his growing anger.
“Good work.”
He then hears, as he notices; Aym’s suddenly teleported to them. She’s bothered to at least put her hair back in a ponytail and look more professional, if you ignore the fact she’s always looking professional and her best.
“..Wait, wait- That weird lady you talked about in your dreams… She’s fucking real?.. Shit.”
Morrigan mutters to herself. She can feel the malicious intent radiating off this woman already and it’s unnerving. It’s worse than her own lust regarding killing. Gebel frowns at this. She’s the goddess of all demons. Surely-
“Aym. You could have said-“
“If I knew that thing was pretending to be your lover, I would have said.”
Aym points out. Gebel frowns, but he just nods. Alright, fine. That makes sense. Andariel immediately frowns when she sees her.
“Aym.. you’ve escaped your seal?”
“…Oh. It’s you. I expected you to be dead by now.”
Aym replies to her, amused. Such a pathetic doll her great-niece is. She pretends to be human and then is thrown away when they grow bored of her. Aym cannot stand her, how she preaches about peace and love and all those sickening human emotions. It is disgusting.
Andariel cannot stand Aym either. A cruel, vicious woman who wants to kill every single human is not one you’d want as a great-aunt, if you are a nun.. or a decent human being, for that matter.
“Friend of yours?”
Gebel asks Aym. Well, this just got a lot more interesting.
“No. She is a disgrace to my brother’s bloodline.”
“…what do you want, Aym.”
Andariel asks. She’s shaking in pure rage. Of course she’s around. She expected the seal to last for a while, but for it to break this quickly..
“I am here to speak with my contractor. Nothing more, nothing less. Run along.”
“No. I-I don’t know what it is that you’re planning; w-whatever it is, you won’t get away with it. I will not let you hurt these children.”
Andariel states, grabbing the goddess by her uniform’s shirt with a look of pure hatred. Aym looks positively bored.
“Only threaten me, when you can actually back up those claims. Otherwise, you are merely a mere insect to me.”
A swift kick to the nun’s stomach with steel boots sends her spiralling down to the floor, after she coughs up lilac blood.
“S-Stop that, she’s our friend!”
Jolene immediately says before Morrigan can stop her. Aym rolls her eyes at this.
“…Tell her to learn some manners, then, child. I do not have time to be bored by a thing that pretends to be human. Gebel.”
“Yes?”
“.. I have a suspicion that the.. ‘item’ we seek is at recently rebuilt church, the one near the alchemists guild where we met. Head there. Find it. Then we will talk.”
“If you insist.”
“Y-You’re not going to actually listen to her!?-“
“Quiet.”
“Ow ow OWW!!-“
Andariel whines as Aym stomps on her chest with her boots more than once. Jolene winces at this; the lilac blood that Andariel spit up has now turned into a purple puddle of blood beneath her. Morrigan sighs to herself. Fiiine, she’ll take one for them. Even she can see the nun’s been through enough.
“Hey.. HEY, lady, knock it off! There’s punishing someone and then there’s being a right cu—“
“—Do not call me that, lest you wish to lose your tongue.. fine. I will bother to spare this pathetic waste of space that is related to me further injuries. . Is that better?”
Aym snidely remarks, using her leftover anger on the nearest tree. If she kicked it anymore, the tree would topple over.
“Well, we understand where to go next. Thank you.”
“Hm.. say that again.”
Aym comments. Gebel raises an eyebrow at this. Uh.. what? He said thank you. He could’ve said a lot worse as he considers the nun Andariel to be a friend.
“You useless— ‘Thank you very much’.”
Gebel stares at her. Is.. is she actually serious? From the continued stare at him back, she clearly is. He grits his teeth and forces himself to have a calmer tone.
“.. thank you very much.”
“Better~. See you.”
As she drops back down to the Inferno, Andariel gets back up and promptly flips the ground where Aym stood off.
“… … Sorry, not very lady-like of me; but that really hurt.”
“We also need to continue our talk.”
“Now?”
“You said you had a tome in your possession. Considering we’re now up against the church, it would be useful to know what we can use.”
“You can’t have it.”
She instantly says. Gebel frowns.
“And why not?”
“.. Reasons. Very good reasons. Y-You’re.. erm.. too young.”
She’s a terrible liar, and Gebel’s stare at her confirms it.
“. . . Lady. What are you hiding. You’ve said you’re a demon. Nothing can be worse than that.”
Morrigan asks her curtly.
“If you all must know, my husband gave it to me. It’s the only thing I have left of him now. That’s all there is to it.”
“That makes sense.”
Jolene comments. Aww, it’s kind of cute.
“Can we at least have a look?”
“. . . Fine, if it shuts you up.”
She turns away from them; Gebel is about to ask why when he sees her take it out from inside of her uniform’s top. Oh. That’s.. one way to hide it, he supposes.
“. . . Here.“
“.. the Libre Logeath..!”
“Yes, yes, it’s that. My husband.. brought it. Yep. So I kept tabs on it until I lost it back in 1600.. something, I’ve slept since then.”
Andariel casually says, quickly going to put it back away only for Gebel to aim his sword at her neck. Andariel frowns; the sword’s digging into her neck and it’s quite uncomfortable, but she doesn’t retaliate.
“This is not a time for negotiation. Aym clearly wants this - I won’t let her or any of her allies take it to use for evil. She’s bad news to begin with.”
She states, not even phased.
“How dare you claim we are ‘evil’, when the humans attacked us first?.. We need it more. I need it the most. It’s for my plan to ensure we’re all safe. Just.. just give it here.”
“I can’t let you have it. I’m sorry.”
Gebel’s eye twitches in sheer rage. This… this demon is meant to be their ALLY against the humans..! She has to be, if she nearly got them all killed! Why won’t she listen!?
“…I’ll just take it from your corpse!”
“Sorry. Bye.”
His sword’s hit causes the nun’s illusion to fade away into a swarm of blue butterflies, by the time Gebel notices she’s running like hell it’s too late to catch up to her.
“. . . Fuck sake. I guess Aym was right, she is a pain.”
-
“Lydia.”
“Oh, yes, Avnas?”
“I was reading some of the books that Johannes left behind. And I am.. confused, about one word. Can you explain it to me?”
“Oh, of course!”
Lydia looks at the book cover - ‘The 13 Trials of the Infernal Maiden’ - She hasn’t really heard of that one. Looking at the blurb, it’s some kind of romance novel? She thinks. She doesn’t really read many books.
The sentence Avnas points to - ‘She loved him’ - causes her to pauses and blink.
“..Eh?”
“I do not understand it. For what I am.. God made me to serve him. I do not have a ‘human’ heart inside of me, so.. emotions do not come naturally.. What is it?”
She asked her like a child. If Lydia wasn’t already shocked, she is now. It’s almost a bit adorable.
“W-Well.. Love is.. hm.. that’s a bit hard to explain..”
Lydia tilts her head, trying to think of an answer. Avnas has spoken about love many times, how God loves all of them the most for surviving such trials. To think she was quite confused about it.. it’s a bit sad she didn’t ask about this sooner.
“I am sure you can.”
Avnas reassures her.
“Love is.. a feeling where you deeply care for another. Very, very deeply. You cannot live without those you love, after all. God’s love is said to be everywhere, everlasting. He loves us all, every single creature in the world; because He is love.”
“I see.”
Avnas nods, giving Lydia a small smile of understanding. Lydia soon rests her head near Avnas’s shoulder.
“Oh, Avnas.. I’m so glad your getting better.”
“..I’ve just been eating.”
Avnas tries to reassure her. She is not ‘sick’, like most humans presume, when she doesn’t eat. Merely.. the cravings will be fulfilled, eventually; that is all there is to it.
“Well, regardless.. you’re better. That’s all that matters when you saved me and plenty others. And.. Avnas.. May I ask, something?”
“Of course.”
“You’ve told me that this form you take.. isn’t your real form. Can.. Can I see it?”
Avnas tilts her head as Lydia sits up.
“..I don’t understand why.”
“Y-You’re from the heavens themselves! Surely, your real self will be beloved by us, just as your current form is! I just.. I serve the Lord, and.. if He has sent you to guide us, surely a little look won’t hurt?”
“Seems.. quite logical, when I run it through.. Very well.”
Avnas replies, nodding. She carefully ‘disrobes’, taking extra care to avoid showing the gory side of her disguise to her beloved friend.
Lydia still smiles despite the odd ‘features’ Avnas really has. Sure, the wings may look more decayed and made of bone. Okay, yes, the.. the tail is new.. the.. the many.. many tentacles? The many eyes!?—Soon, she couldn’t stop screaming.
ₛₕₑ cₒᵤₗdₙ’ₜ.. ₛₜₒₚ.. ₛcᵣₑₐₘᵢₙg..?
Avnas can’t understand it. Her friend, who doesn’t care.. about what she truly is, about her peculiar ‘feeding’ habits.. cannot bear to witness..?
For a second, Avnas believes she is feeling what humans call ‘sadness’. A foreign feeling within her body. She has no ‘human’ heart, so Avnas cannot understand why she feels ‘sadness’.
“Ahahahahaha..!”
Tears pour down her friend’s face, her eyes blown wide with sheer despair and suffering. Her hands grab her sides, futilely tearing into her own flesh in an attempt to hold herself.
Loud. Loud. Too loud. Avnas doesn’t like the loud noises her friend is making. She doesn’t understand.
She can’t stop her from grabbing the nearest dagger and—
Blood pours from the nun’s face. Human blood, which Avnas once wished to drink down her throat; Now she sees it, crimson rivers pouring from her only friend.. Avnas feels a cold pit of emptiness where her ‘heart’ is.
“Gₒddₑₛₛ.. f..fₒᵣgᵢᵥₑ ₘₑ.. fₒᵣgᵢᵥₑ ₘₑ..”
Lydia’s pitiful cries ring out in the church. She can’t move, her legs won’t let her. Avnas picks her up gently, calmly humming to herself.
Avnas won’t let her friend die. It may be ‘cruel’, but she hasn’t had a ‘human’ friend before. She won’t let her die.

‘Know your enemy’
Summary: Aym decides to entertain herself with the latest soul to challenge her rule in the Inferno.
-
“..How boring.”
She slams her right fist on the armrest of her throne, causing a similar one to slam down into your back and onto the ground as it knocks the wind out of you.
“I expected a challenge; not some pathetic, waste of space of a human.”
Many hands rise from the ground, pitch black and claws extended; they all grab and drag you to the throne. Aym looks you over, her golden coloured eyes looking more bored by the minute.
Another typical human who died, got sent to the Inferno and has the AUDACITY to try to challenge her for the throne? Aym felt sick at the thought of some pathetic man trying.
“.. useless, weak creature. I won’t even bother to feed on you. It’d ruin my teeth.”
“Fuck you!”
You know you can’t win this fight, she’s shrugged off all of your magical attacks and spells. But you won’t just lie down and take whatever fate she has in store for you.
Her black military boot hitting the back of your head say otherwise, eagerly pressing your head into the castle floor for a moment with a smug smile. She purposely goes slow; she has the ability to kill you in minutes but she draws the pain out.
“Hmm.. making you a slave isn’t my style, really. Slaves inspire rebellions; most infernal demons tolerate my rule as it is..”
She muses casually, sipping the tea she was drinking before you ‘rudely’ barged into the castle.
“.. you know.. there actually is one thing I can try with you. The other infernal demons talk about this ’sex’ like it is the goddess’ great gift or whatever it is, humans always have such ridiculous concepts—“
“Wait. Really?.. You’re just going to bed me? That’s your punishment?”
She blinks at your comment, sips her tea and spitefully pours the rest onto your head for that remark. Your cries of pain don’t deter her; if anything, her brief grin is the few drops of emotion that slip through the mask.
“—Do not interrupt me. Wait your turn, then ask me for the privilege of speaking.”
“Oww..”
“And, also.. ‘bed’ you?.. Explain that term.”
“You want me to have sex with you.”
She raises an eyebrow. You gesture to your own lower regions. It then clicks and for a second you think she’s actually blushing at the concept.
“…Oh. No. God no. Firstly, my husband was much, MUCH bigger below the belt than the mere twig you possess. You have also not earned the right to be one of my concubines. I do not ‘love’ weak humans and I certainly will not start now.”
She shifts her crossed legs and you then see the rather large bulge between her uniform’s pant legs. Inhumanely big. If you.. ignore the fact it’s connected to an eldritch goddess, it’s somewhat hot. Key word being somewhat, as today is not one of those days where it is hot for you.
“… oh.”
Well.. Shit.
This is going to hurt.
She grabs your head with one hand and messily unzips her uniform with the other; she’s not very good at being quick regarding undressing, so it’s torturously slow on your end and the tension hurts the most.
She thrusts inside your mouth suddenly, not giving you time to adjust; the choking and gagging around her length annoys her more than anything. Your teeth scraping across doesn’t bother her, if anything it makes her more determined to try to do this ‘right’.
Mere minutes almost feel like hours as she grips your hair and holds you in place; the only noises in the throne room are your pained, agonised slurping - if you can call it that and not choking - and her heavy breathing and grunts of effort.
She soon pauses. This is surely taking too long, even for a human.
“—tch. You’re not even good at this. I thought humans actually enjoyed this form of human pleasure. Isn’t that you creatures all do?”
She scoffs, suddenly pulling out and letting you breathe; strands of saliva connect to her and your mouth.
“You sick bitch!—“
“—Unless you want me to choke you with it, answer my question. Be grateful I am letting you breathe, human.”
She lets you catch a breath or two; you’re expecting her to loose her patience any second. Despite her cruel nature, she seems genuinely curious.
“W-Well, er.. t-typically, it’s the woman who does the sucking. The man is usually in control. Not- Not like this.”
“. . . Is that so.”
She says. You nod, hesitantly. Her expression is thoughtful for a moment before it snaps back to her typical emotionless stare.
“Heh.. ehehe..”
She giggles. Wait—She’s.. she’s giggling? You can’t really believe it as it’s just as emotionless as her usual tone.
“Ah.. It must be rather embarrassing for you, to be reduced to a mere cock-sleeve by a goddess.”
She immediately shoves her length back inside your mouth without a second's delay, grinning a bit at the wincing and whining you do as it hits the back of your throat.
She continuously slams her length over and over into you; not caring that it may break or chip your teeth in her efforts to feel the human ‘satisfaction’ that they have when they do this. Blood and drool leak from the corners of your stuffed mouth.
“Ah- hah~—C..Come on, at least- at least TRY to entertain me..!”
She laughs mockingly; continuously thrusting and not caring that her claws leave bloodied scratch marks into you.
She hilts herself inside of your mouth; spurt after spurt of her climax coats the insides of your mouth white, leaking from your mouth and coating your clothes.
Yet she does not moan; a faint blush colours her face for a moment. She bothers to tuck herself away and looks at your sorry state. Not looking, waiting.
“Is.. is that it?.. I still do not feel anything..”
She murmurs to herself; when she looks at you again, a mere glance is all she needs to reduce you to a bloodied stain on the floor in an instant.
